I was in second grade, and our school secretary's voice suddenly came over the P.A. system, saying: "Ladies and gentlemen, it is officially snowing in Miami." And although we were normally well-behaved little kids in our Catholic school, we shouted out a collective "Ohhhh!" and rushed over to the windows in the hopes of seeing it. We were later told that the snow was melting dozens of feet above us, but it was still a special day. We all went home to drink hot chocolate and to hear reports of flurries in North Miami. The newspapers the next day were filled with pictures of the places where snow had reached the ground. Unforgettable moments.

Having recently moved here from Connecticut after 35 years, I can honestly say I miss the snow, the fresh crisp air, the way the city looks coated in white snow, the snow days no school. I wish south floridians could experience it at least once here.

I remember this. I was born in the Bahamas and I relocated to Jamaica in 76. I remember my mom telling me it was snowing there and I was disappointed that I didn't get to experience it.

When I was a kid growing up in Florida I wished there would be a day where just once it would snow in Florida after my Mom told it did happen once before long before I was born. Sadly that never happened. I would probably be acting like a little kid if it ever did though being an adult now. Snow has always felt magical to me due to only ever seeing it in entertainment and outside the state which was also quite rare to see as well. (In fact I only saw it on mountains)

I was going to school in the upper keys on this day. They closed school early because it was so cold and we did not have heat or AC. If it got to 40, school was cancelled. Miami actually had snow piled up on cars. It snowed very slightly in Plantation Key where the school was. I remember walking to the bus and holding my hand out and catching snowflakes, they melted fast. The one and only time I ever saw snow. 😂. I was so cold, as we didn’t have very thick coats. But it was fun being let out of school early. On some cold morning we would actually start a fire at the bus stops to stay warm, just small ones we stomped out before we got on the bus. Back tge. Lots of woods still in the area. Not now 😂

Remember that day like it was yesterday. Mom was scrambling to get us winter gear which was a fail. Haha.
Didn’t cancel school crazy enough and was devastated we couldn’t stay home and play in the snow. Went to belair elementary which had very few windows back then and was counting the minutes till the end of the school day only to walk out and find that all the snow had melted. Oh well, my parents split the following year and we ended up moving to ny where I still get my fill of snow. Haha

Of course! Frozen Buddy Canada is always the culprit for high pressure & freezing low temperatures.
Sent from a dude in Quebec, which is the weirdest province in Canada ❄️❄️💨💨
