First time watching. Not a fan of Wes Craven ( too teenage kinda movies like Scream ) but I'll give a chance to this one maybe more serious when he was younger. This is also my answer and an opinion why somebody with skills for editing a video better just doesn't want to do it.
It's on Plex, but oddly the Plex version is 10 minutes shorter. Just having a quick look, the opening scene is already different 🤔 Still VHS quality though.
Unfortunately, being a TV movie, there's no rogue prints floating around, so unless the studio combs through the archives, this'll probably be as good as it gets. Apparently it was also released on Betamax so *maybe* it'll look a little better, but not by much.
I remember having a small black and white TV in my bedroom and sneaking it on late at night to watch horror movie's with my blanket pulled over head spooky I was lucky to have a TV in my room i remember it making me feel all grown up 😊
In Australia in the mid to late 70’s they had “ Friday night fever” at midnight, I was a kid, I would wait for it to come on but i would fall asleep 🤦😂
good recommendation.... def watching it now. i got a few movies like that too that i cant remember the titles to etc coz theyre from soooo long ago xxx
@@GeminiladyJackson-xq6hc I respectfully disagree. He *was* very good in this, no question, but he was virtually perfect as T.J. Luther in _Celebrity._ I think that's the performance of his career; he absolutely *was* that character straight out of the book.
On Fridays & Saturdays i could stay up as late as i wanted and watch whatever i wanted. I was 10 yrs old and saw this. I had my own tv in my room. I knew anything i watched wasn't real.
My theory of his callous nature is that even though he was revived, he wasn't fully thawed so his body remained cold, including his heart. The film is called Chiller.
Jill Schoelen's first major role. I had the biggest crush on her in my late teens and early twenties. You know her better as the daughter in The Stepfather.
Ironically, I was pondering this question just the other day. If we died and was so for a long period of time, and then somehow was revived; would our soul have moved on? I would think so. But is it even possible that it could return just because our physical vessel was brought back to life? And then again, if our physical body has no soul, could it even be possible to revive?? If it were, with no soul, we could imagine this would be the result perhaps. Scary indeed!
I say the soul and spirit remain until complete death. If we are revived by the medical team they're still there. I have heard of near- death experiences changing people's personalities or they come back with supernatural gifts. It is strange.
if the body was kept at deaths door would the spirit be trapped in a kind of limbo. would a soul be able to move on if the body wasn't dead. if u actually died & were frozen then u did die...but if you were frozen & the body lived what happens to the soul. would we cause more suffering than we intend just by being selfish & trying to keep someone here beyond their natural time...better to die & hopefully move onto somewhere more peaceful
These are good questions, and I think what the movie is inferring is that the body doesn't come back empty of a soul; it comes back full of a demon spirit: that is, it comes back fully possessed. When Jesus and his disciples and the Old Testament prophets raised the dead, they did so by the power of God's Holy Spirit, and so by the grace of God the souls were returned to the bodies and all was well with them. However, in the movie, it wasn't God's Spirit bringing Miles back to life; it was clearly something diabolical, so it didn't end well. The other bodies being reanimated at the end of the film would also likely be fully possessed of demon spirits, or so is the inference. Now, there is no instance in the Bible of a dead body being animated by a demon spirit, which means the premise of the movie is unrealistic. Demons can only inhabit bodies that are still alive -- that is, bodies that still have souls. If demons could inhabit corpses, we would have seen evidence of that over the millennia, but there is no evidence. Possession only happens to live bodies. Which means that the premise of the movie is flawed, as people are dead before they're cryogenically frozen: they are not frozen alive. And if dead, the body no longer has a soul, which means it cannot be possessed and the movie is a big fat lie. Even so, it does get you thinking, which is a good thing.
Exactly. There are companies today that are freezing people due to illnesses and one day hope to revive like this movie. I do not believe it can be done. The body is dead. The soul passes on. I don’t think it ever can reunite with its body. There is no scientific proof of this. Spiritually it’s a very complicated subject. This movie is a scary at the thought of this possibility. When the soul has moved on, what is left?
His dog knows, Miles is not his 'daddy', he's evil. Only the Lord God can bring people back to life, and He will when He returns on Judgement Day to judge both the living and the dead. Maranatha
Yo creo que todas las películas de terror de los setentas y ochentas son muy buenas con sus efectos prácticos casi artesanales y su maquillaje especial todo muy diferente a las películas con efectos digitales de estos días que no asustan como antes
There was a cryonic facility in Scottsdale, Az in the 1970s and 80s. Not sure whatever happened to it but they used to advertise it on local TV commercials. I wonder where everybody went? Totally forgot about that until now seeing this film.
Just for funsies, I checked the IMDB site, and most of the reviews of this flick were negative. I don't agree with those reviews at all. For one thing, this is a TV movie, so don't expect great special effects or the best acting. However, the acting here is quite good, particularly Beatrice Straight, and Paul Sorvino. Even Michael Beck, who played off his looks most of his career and not his talent, was all cold assurance and swagger. Wes Craven took a lot of heat for his directing skills, but here, again, I don't see the bad. It's a solid, workmanlike effort. And the overall effect is...chilling. Worth watching.
One must wonder what would happen if we could do this with the brilliant minds that can be preserved until a cure is found and what actually comes back.
It's crazy that this 40 year old vhs is STILL the best quality copy available. Somebody remaster this movie already!
Why?

Reminds me of the time of hooking up two VCRs together and recording rented movies we got from the little VHS store down the street.
ikr wow!!!
Yes!!!!!!! Those were the days!!!!!!!🙏🏻🥰
Hahaha! Everyone that knew how did it.
I’m sorry but I’m gojng to have to report you. Didn’t you read the FBI warning!?!??! 🚔🚨

You and me both bro.
That sounds like fun.
Awww I was so poor in my country we didn't have light 😭
That's some scary shit 🙄
When I was a kid here in Texas the Spanish channels would play some scary movies with English audio and Spanish sub titles they would show everything
Drove 400 miles today for my job and this movie randomly popped in my head. Thanks for the upload.

Driving a "refer"?
In 6 years, the 80s will be 50 years ago. This makes me sad 😔
The 80s sucked. The 70s are what you should have missed.
Man that sounds horrible...
42 years tops, depending on how you count it. 🎉
Make it stop, make time stop !
@@AlanBurge Ya, the 70s were groovy, maaan.
I’ve been looking for a good copy of this film forever, so glad you put this up Lewis 👍
Just got this movie on VHS! 🥶📼
📼 😮
I taped this off TV when I was far too young to watch it in the 80s. Didnt realise it was Wes Craven!
i wish i wanna go back to 38 years from the past i love all movies from 1985 👌
85 was a great year for movies.
🍻 We need timemachine yo. 1984 tho
That's insane that 1985 is almost 40 years ago.
same here jose,it was the best your cool in my book buddy.
You wish you wanna?
Miles just seems like the typical CEO.
No kidding.
Yes, most CEO's are cold-blooded and uncaring.
Wes Craven is one of the masters of the horror genre.
Wasn't to sure about this untill half way through. Interesting storyline.Never come across it in a film before.A man with no soul concept.
53 years young and feeling nostalgic😊
My brother loved horror movies and had an extensive collection on VHS. This was one of his favorites.
Salem's Lot was also another great horror TV miniseries.
In Australia in the mid to late 70’s they had “ Friday night fever” at midnight, I was a kid, I would wait for it to come on but i would fall asleep 🤦😂
Good to see the little cbs fox jingle at the beginning reminds me of the old vhs tape.
I still have a VCR and a huge collection of tapes.
@@XNY556-Apple Me too w/ the vhs players- 2 of them. I've downsized the vhs tapes though 📼 👍
Michael Beck plays 'cold and soulless' so well.
Michael Beck should have been a bigger star.
I remember watching this in the 80s when I was still at school
One of my favourite. Films like this with no special effects and music like this really freeze the blood
Such a pro active nurse
i've been looking for this movie for 40 years 🤦
This was Michael Beck's best acting role ❤

Not if you came from the 70's.
Yes 80's rock .
Sorry, but, no, it wasn't. The fashions and hairstyles were AWFUL.

This scared the crap out of me growing up !
This movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I wish they had the ability to make them like this again. Ty
This movie is off the chain mann
That was a good movie thank you
Good movie. Wes Craven can do no wrong.👍
Boy. That is some security guard at the beginning of the movie. He heard all those noises and he just kept right on reading his book!!
What a great movie.9/10 💯🤗🇦🇺

What makes this movie watchable is the outstanding performances from ALL involved.

Love finding a good "old" flick that I've never seen.
This was a good one. Very enjoyable 🥶👍
Thank you for putting this on
Damn I'd forgotten how this ended. One can never die, come back and be the same. In movies, it never ends well.
"He's aIiiiiiiiive!"
I remember watching this when it first came on tv I really enjoyed the movie he sure came back evil.
Michael Beck was terrific in the film, The Warriors. His acting career tanked after he starred in the film, Xanadu.
God how I so do remember this film. Finally found this on RUclips!
Thankyou x
Good movie, dry suspenseful! I would watch it again. Thx for sharing!
I watched this movie when it first came out. It was great at the time. And is good now to watch.

Thank you for the movie! I had never seen it which is weird for me🙂
i really love this movie 1985 Chiller is a very awesome 🤗
Great movie! Michael Beck looks a little like the late Andy Gibb.
Brought back without a soul😮
Or his empty vessel writhed and pulsed as something housed itself in his flesh.😮
That part is fantasy since nobody has a "soul" to begin with.
Kind of like Pet Semetary. They have a different personality and heart.
Creepy concept 😳
Great job .thanks.😊❤
My God, that CBS Fox logo and fanfare brings back a few memories.
The lilypond at the house is where they filmed the lilypond catfight on Dynasty.

there's magic in the '70 and '80 movies that I do not know what it is....some of it is, curious enough, the fainted colour of the picture.
So basically Whoever made this has the idea that even if you are put to sleep in this manor you come back without a soul or something?
Not only did Wes steal the title card from The Thing, the opening credits are Carpenter's usual style!
