Also, She-Hulk wore a variety of outfits in Byrne's She-Hulk comic from the 80s. These weren't costumes, but this was cool. Multiple costumes also would work for Harley Quinn and Starfire.
When Supergirl states that maybe changing costumes will confuse her enemies, it reminds me that the same point was made during the brief era where Spider-Man was changing between the classic red and blue costume and the (non-symbiote) black costume. Jameson especially hated the changing costumes and briefly wondered if there might be two Spider-Men out there now.

Lois Lane once gifted Superman with an indestructible white-tie costume (with a top hat and an "S" emblem sash). I forget where she got it, but it's a real shame that he never actually took her on a date in it. Or, the story could have ended with Clark Kent taking her out, saying Superman lent him this nice suit, "Isn't it swell?" and Lois saying irritably, "Superman looked a lot better in it, Clark", and Clark winking at the reader....

But the one that was actually used for awhile to surpass anyone story in people's minds.

I wish they kept up with that, its cute, and gives her something that could help define her character a bit better. She desperately need some core character elements so doesn't become a completely different person every time she has a new writer.
This reminds me a little of the '80s revival of "Dial H for Hero", where they had readers submit ideas for heroes and villains. The "Dial H" concept lends itself to a constantly changing roster of hero identities, so it made sense. Robin ( THE Robin ) also went through a phase in the mid 1970's where readers were invited to send in their sketches of alternate Robin costumes . Robin wore several of them in a single story in a single issue of Batman Family .

Perverts pay a fortune online for used articles of clothing from their favourite cam girl, imagine the money that’d roll in if a superhero started selling off old costumes! …yeah, this totally just got weird; I’ll just see myself out now, a have a sudden urge to clean something with bleach…
No one does a better job of reviewing comics or dispensing comic history *without judgement* than Sasha. Most other channels have turned comic books into a social mess that hurts my soul.
To Highlander, and everyone who just replied before me: Ditto! Yep! Agreed! You get a like, an you get a like, an you get a like! An... I think you get the idea.
I've always loved the puffy-sleeve/hotpants design, and REALLY liked the first variant that Diana had her in (liked the shot with her, Di and Morgan' Daughter, together...wasn't that Morganna's last appearance?)
The costume I disked the most was her last one -- the one she died wearing in the Crisis. The lopsided cape, the frilly ballerina-type skirt, and that headband - ugh, it was a terrible combo. Not a good look.
That costume came in because of the Supergirl movie. DC didn’t like the headband but shoehorned it in because it was planned for the movie. Then the headband was dropped from the movie, leaving DC with an unwanted headband. DC must have been pretty narked about that.
Okay, I'll come out and admit it. My favorite is the hotpants and poofy sleeves look, especially as portrayed on that letter page illustration which became the cover symbol and a staple of DC's character licensing art. That image was the one used for the 7-Eleven Slurpee cup of the early seventies where I first learned of the existence of the character many months before I bought my first comic.
@Will N I most often refer to them as pixie boots, myself, but didn't this time. Now I'm getting the urge for someone to put Kara in elf shoes for a gag -'the ones with the curly toes.
9:35 "This full body one with magician cape attachment, I feel like it ends up being used." It does - for Doctor Strange. Go ahead, try to unsee it now.
I don’t like the logo being just on the belt. The big blue empty space on the chest looks strange on a super hero. It needs strips holes or something to help either the contrast, maybe take the sleeves or change the texture.
The hotpants costume has always been my favorite. Probably because that’s when I started reading comics. And I really hope you come back to this run of the series. It features a girl named NASTI!! So many questions.
I consider the hot pants outfit her REAL costume, its the one she wore throughout my childhood. Adventure 408 was one of my first comic books (I was just out of kindergarten) and my father destroyed it after the story gave me nightmares! Still hate ghost stories!!!
Wasn't she an alien duplicate or something. They ruined Supergirl for decades after Crisis, though eventually, they made her a cool character who is more compelling than Superman.
Superman: No,no, I’m fine wearing the same thing...decade after predictable decade... Supergirl: Ewww. No. Where’s my closet!?! I did like this era of Supergirl transitioning from pre-teen to young adult. That time of life when we experiment the most. Results vary. My favorite was the combination with long gloves and thigh boots(sans side stripes) Visually dynamic and distinct. And whatever else you might think of this time, like Sekowskys art, it was FUN! That was the whole point. True, the contributors weren’t paid, BUT...! Imagine being a kid at this time. Being asked to interact with a favorite comic in a way that had never been done before!!! They print YOUR design with YOUR name...BRAGGING RIGHTS!!!!! So for kids of all ages, this was awesome. Chris Farley awwwwsoooome...! And some of these kids may have grown up to be Cosplayers. Sooooo.....RESPEC!!!, man. And then there were those Robin designs....
Yeah I like when it makes sense for the character. Superman had a classic costume that meant a lot to him as a symbol both personally and to the public so why would he change it. I really like Janet aka Wasp in Marvel being a fashion designer and being the in universe cause behind most of the costume changes for any Avengers member.
I like characters having many costumes. Like Kitty Pryde, it was kind of a running joke how frecuently she changed her looks, at least till they decided to ignore that her Shadowcat costume is the coolest and settled for the boring black/yellow one.
This video has me feeling my age. 20 or 30 years ago I'm sure my reaction to the swimsuit type costume might have been imagining how attractive it could be in real life but now I can't get past the 'how is that staying on?' feeling and thinking that the poor lassie would be frozen flying high up wearing such a skimpy outfit. I'm so old.
1. I'm actually a big fan on the tennis outfit, has a kinda alien futuristic vibe 2. I appreciate how lots of the submissions were from women. Showed how diverse the comics fandom was even way back when in the stone age.
Personally, my least favorite of her costumes is the one they gave her when she was officially brought back for Post-Crisis DC under Jeph Loeb, who thought it was a good idea to play up her sex appeal as she was supposed to be a "superpowered Paris Hilton" type! I'm not a prude who dislikes sex appeal, far from it, but only where it fits, and this was completely missing the fact that the entire reason there was such an outcry to bring her back in the first place was because Peter David had whetted our appetites with the "orignal" Kara, who is as far from that as you can get! So, let me get this straight: DC wanted Kara to stay dead and gone, but let PAD bring her back for just a few issues; he gambled that the fans would like her so much, they'd want her back permanently, and he was right! So, of course, DC agreed, but in a "monkey's paw" sort of way, by canceling his book (effectively firing him) and having another creative team bring her back, but with a personality that was almost the exact opposite of what the fans really wanted! ...Passive-Aggressive much, DC?
Was this the version with the white shirt who was in the cartoons? I didn't like this version, but it was a step in the right direction away from the alien clone thing. They evolved her into a cool character in the 00s. I like the New 52 version, and I like the first season of the TV series, but I don't like the Rebirth comics.
That's an interesting backstory! You're referring to the crop top suit, right? It was so unnatural how much they stretched out her lower body, but besides that I stan the art style. I think it inspired her look in the animated film Superman and Batman Apocalypse? I loved her in that film but hated how they had her be nude getting out of the ship (like why? Also, eww, didn't her parents put her in there in most continuities?) and almost get attacked by those random guys. It was both gratuitous and unnecessarily dark at the same time because nothing else was done with it.
If it’s the Inferiors you’re wanting , the Strange Brain Parts RUclips channel has a wonderful presentation. But it’s mostly bits & matter of fact type stuff. But I would LOVE to see Sasha’s take on it!!,, Except for what happened to Dumb Bunny and Merryman post-crisis. Could’ve gone my whole life without that.
They should make Aquaman the male version of the princess and babe characters. I wonder if a Prince genre exists. The Star Wars OT is kind of a male Disney Princess story. Men are portrayed awfully by the media. It's a discrimination and exploitation which is rarely discussed. I would like to see dignified portrayals of men again. They ruined Aquaman in the movies though.
I’m surprised at how long it took for the red skirt to appear... and that it didn’t stick that long. It’s the costume worn by Helen Slater and Melissa Benoist and it makes sense: the skirt reminds the viewer of Superman’s red trunks and the red breaks the all-blue design.
Yeah, I never liked the blue skirt, it just seems ODD to me! Team Red Skirt forever! IIRC, New 52 Kara was the first to go skirtless? How did people like that look?
that magician lookin outfit was...certainly something. Supergirl Sorcerer-Supreme or somethin type deal that one. What about Spiderman costume changes and alterations though? It may not work so much for Supergirl with feeling disconnected but Parker has deffo gone through a lot of versions, and a lot of the other Spider-character outfits are variations and just minor tweaks of his own. What makes his costume work so well that it could get so many off-shoots that each of the alter-versions of him that exists from the spiderverse that makes them all feel unique in a different way compared to Supergirl's massive wardrobe changes?
I remember the TV series Supergirl going through her fashion parade when trying to choose a costume (particularly the "I wouldn't wear this to the beach!" outfit) - all of which had been SG's costume at some point.
You do know that this video just prompts me to request respectfully that you do these two things: 1) An overview of THE DARING NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERGIRL, the 80's series that features what might be the single ugliest outfit Kara ever wore; in my head cannon DC wasn't killing Supergirl in CRISIS, they were killing that outfit. 2) An exploration of the many, MANY costumes of Janet 'The sun rose today, so it's time for a new costume' Van Dyne and Natalia 'Gotta Follow The Trends' Romanova....
@Will N You and I will have to agree to disagree...I think the combination of 'new' elements (the 'necklace' piece around the emblem, the cut of the blouse, the belt) all serve to overcomplicate the outfit while dating it thoroughly to that worst time for fashion ever, the 1980's. I think it would have been possible to update the costume without anchoring it to a particular time period--and to keep it 'classically' Superman-y. Still, I respect your right to like what you like, my friend. If we all agreed on everything, the world would be a much more boring place.
Around the same time, there was an open submission policy for new costumes for the Legion of Super-Heroes. IIRC, one story had Karate Kid, Princess Projectra and Shadow Lass wearing fan-designed costumes. Shortly after that, Dave Cockrum became Legion artist and redesigned over half of the Legionnaire's costumes.
I’m a fan of evening wear I think one of those DC/Marvel Universe handbook catalogues of characters that features all the fig costumes throughout the years would be cool.
I actually did like those art books too. I mean, even for a 13yr old, the Marvel swimsuit edition was… a lot. Like, way to much actually. 4 words: Cyclops, Speedo: ‘nuff said. But Rogue looked so beautiful in her Wedding Dress during the ‘90 Jim Lee run; a right proper southern belle! 🥰🥰🥰
I picked up this run of Supergirl stories on Comixology about a year ago. The costumes were just the tip of the iceberg. The stories themselves were batcrap crazy. And I've always been partial to the hotpants-and-poofy-blouse look, myself. Then again, the first stories I read with the character were from the Superman Family book, so it kinda imprinted on me at an early age. Still an iconic look, though.
Supergirl was not the only Hero that went through the "How is that staying on" phase. Several of the Legion of Superheroes got strange new costumes in the 70's. Cosmic boy was the main one but some of the other also made you wonder.
Did anyone notice that they actually printed the name and address of readers? That seems strange and creepy in 2022 but 1970 in America was a very different time and place.
You missed out on a golden opportunity to advertise all your merch. Since you were doing a video about the constant changing of Supergirl's costume, every time you switched back to being on screen you could have on a different shirt. It would have totally worked with the subject of the video. LOL
Characters who spend a large amount of time in melee combat probably shouldn't have so many tassels, dangly bits, and accessories, especially the ascot. You don't see Wonder Woman tussling while wearing a built-in noose.
I really like the one with the red vest, blue 1-piece underneath, S on the belt, and medium-length red boots. So many superheroes wore capes, especially in the old days. But this costume seemed comfortable and practical. It still showed some amount of skin, which was evidently the common factor in these designs. The one exception to that was the business suit costume, which was from the same cover of issue 397 of Adventure Comics, shown at the 3:49 mark in the video. I guess one way to think of this is to decide if you want a costume or an outfit. And what would the distinctions be? The two I mentioned there seemed to be more like outfits, along with the evening wear. They're out of the ordinary enough to not be regular street clothes, but not exactly tights either.
Thank you for the retuospective on Supergirl's costumes. You always do an absolute great job on research. I tune in for your research, yet your wig options are also enjoyable. :)
I have to say this video was a pleasure as it stemmed from the time I started collecting as a kid back in the 1970s. I had a special fondness for the Legion of Superheroes and Supergirl back then. So kudos to you, a very dreamy host, covering nostalgic and dreamy subject matter. Thanks.
Supergirl should hang out with Kitty Pryde. I never knew. Lots of comic artists love drawing fashion: all of the classic Archie comic artists were chosen for that reason, but even high concept artists like Bill Sienkiewicz have said they really like drawing haute couture
I think these are all far better than what Cosmic Boy and Saturn Girl wore at the same time. But then that wouldn't be hard. The full body one doesn't really work on the printed page, whereas it does on tv. The problem is the gloves. They stand out too much. The tv version make it work as it doesn't have them.
I’d really like to have gotten a storyline in which this fashionista version of Supergirl went up against Mugatu from Zoolander. “What is Kandor? A city for KRYPTONIAN ANTS?!”
Too funny! I can see it now. First, Supergirl runs into Derik and Hansel, there’s a misunderstanding. They face off. Girl of Steel v BLUE STEEL!! Then, they realize Mugatu’s plot to take over the Fortress and kill those “Ants “. They team up to stop him, reminding Zoolander that not only can Kandorians read good, but they’re not a side dish from Morocco.
Wow, I think the Supergirl outfit with blue pants is where the TV series grew inspiration from. I didn't know she got a pants outfit before in the comics and I think it fits the best to me at least. I really hope she gets the modern Supergirl TV series outfit in the comics.
I guess I'm with you on the hot pants and puffy sleeves costume, it's more iconic I think, or at least less weird. That wig you're wearing also really compliments your face, speaking of fashion. Good video, thanks.
I like the idea, and a lot of the costumes are really well made, and I like the concept of asking fans for designs too, I don't think it's them trying to be lazy and take advantage of the fans, to me it's just a nice way to make to interact with them, to say that this is cheap in any way is just skepticism
In the 90's the Batman Artists came up with a ton of costume ideas and they were used in the story: Brotherhood of the Bat. Kind of reminds me of this, without taking advantage of fans.
Lillie: “Hmm, what’s a super good costume look for me? Give me all the design.” “Design me like one Super girls. Lol.” (( Yes, I got a pic of a hero look made and using it just for the occasion. I wanted to look super cute.
I say you take your defense strategies where you find them. I don't know, houndstooth mixed with horizontal stripes could be very off-putting, knock an opponent off balance. I've been to New York Fashion Week. Plenty of things there made me want to run and hide lest I go blind. - MAL
In the Great Book of Superman, published in 1978, had a layout of the Fortress of Solitude. It showed Kara had a small apartment of her own of to the side of the main Fortress. Did any of the comics in 1960s and 70s show her at this apartment?
I've always been a fan of the Justice League Unlimited costume and the variant in the finale of that show. They also date the period it was drawn in, but they add to the character of Kara as a younger hero trying to define herself
I'd love to see a video like this for Catwoman's and Black Canary's costumes over the years, as they've both had a slew of them -- ranging from dreadful (Catwoman's "pirate boots", black leotard, blue tights, and red mask in the early 1970s and Dinah's recent, hideous "Daisy Duke" shorts and combat boots ensemble) to terrific (Catwoman's skin-tight purple body suit and thigh-high black boots--courtesy of artist Jim Balent--and Dinah's revamped original-style costume worn during Gail Simone's run on Birds of Prey).
Supergirl's costume collection competing with Superman's Lois shrine collection at this point. 7:13 Yeah honestly even now I feel its still one of her stronger designs, that swimsuit and New Gods ones though are too far different imo. 0:35 Damn I forget Sue looked like that, I'm curious what wen't through their head coming up with that.
If I recall correctly, "the 90s" were going through their head. Everything had to be jacked up to 11, so giving her a boob-window swimsuit (with a collar) was a way of updating the team's look. The artists often drawing it were horrible, so in practice it usually looked much WORSE than the panels shown (coloring problems, line problems, the whole thing was cursed). Eventually the costume was explained by Sue having an evil twin, whose moniker I can't recall at the moment. Shrike?... don't think so but something like that.
I started reading comics with Supergirl's hot pants period. It lasted into the mid-80s. It's what I think of when I think of the character. My 7 year old self dug it a lot of a lot. Lol.
A woman who changes her wigs almost daily commenting on a heroine who changes her costumes almost issue to issue - - - Isn't it ironic, doncha think? ("Like rayy-ayy-ain, . . .") hahaha!! I did like a few of these, but my favorite is still the hot pants/puffy shirt combo. I would switch the pixie shoes with knee high red boots, equestrian style.
like costumes, issue 397, the one right behind the speech bubble (blue full body) , the kelly -bray fusion , the no capes, evening wear, issue 409, 410 ( but no long sleeves, same for the hot pants ) issue 412 (no belt), issue 415 ( change the red to blue , no gloves, cape , boots), giant issue 24 , page 1 (bell bottoms , minus the belt, ) page 2 ( blue blouse with red S ) page 3 ( the two with all leg boots , but no yellow belt and dangly chain)
I love the one from 398 with the chain belt and red hip boots, but my favorite is the one with the leggings (somewhat similar to Batgirl's outfit) that was on the cover of Adventure Comics #413.
It’s funny how at the same time Wonder Woman got de-powered, they made Supergirl’s powers unreliable and she had to use rocket boots and an exoskeleton to make up for it.
My first memory of Supergirl is the puffy-sleaved choker- cape outfit. But I really like her original look the best. They gave her yet another new look a decade later with an oh so 80's headband.
The puffy blouse with the hot pants was my favorite SG outfit. I grew up on the Bronze Age of DC comics. That outfit was my first introduction to Supergirl.
Reminds me of what John Byrne did with Mattie Franklin when he was writing her solo series - she had a different (and usually horribly ugly) costume virtually every issue.
Great video, as always. I'm guessing none of the fans were paid for their contributions, although John Sposato (who did the hotpants outfit) should have been given how often it was used during the 1970s. Back then Marvel used to at least tease its readers by sending out stuff like the infamous 'no-prize' empty envelopes as a faux reward, but I think DC just assumed readers would be happy enough with maybe possibly perhaps sometimes getting a nod in one of the caption panels or editorial pages. Btw, reader Jim Larsen had an idea printed in the letters page of Action Comics #280 about using a magic comb to switch Linda's hair into Supergirl's -- DC finally used the idea 23 years later (!!) in Supergirl Vol. 2 #17. (Probably just a coincidence, but I'd love to think that it wasn't -- like there was a scrapbook in some dusty drawer at the DC offices filled with crazy fan ideas ready to be exploited in the case of a writer's block emergency.) :-) (And while we're on the topic of paying for fan idea, wasn't the symbiote Spider-Man outfit originally designed by a fan, which Jim Shooter only paid something like $200 for..?)

@@CieJe.Alexander Good will? Perverts pay a fortune online for used articles of clothing from their favourite cam girl, imagine the money that’d roll in if a superhero started selling off old costumes!
…yeah, this totally just got weird; I’ll just see myself out now, a have a sudden urge to clean something with bleach…
lmao supergirl w bangs is my fave “costume change” lowkey just like the animated version
At this point I find this being one of the only comic channels I watch, you keep things interesting
It's nice when they only talk about comics and not other stuff like politics.
No one does a better job of reviewing comics or dispensing comic history *without judgement* than Sasha. Most other channels have turned comic books into a social mess that hurts my soul.
It's one of the few channels that I KNOW will leave me with a smile on my face.
To Highlander, and everyone who just replied before me: Ditto! Yep! Agreed! You get a like, an you get a like, an you get a like! An... I think you get the idea.
Comic Tropes is a pretty fun channel.
It’s so clear the artist appreciated all the effort that the fans put in. it’s honestly really sweet.
Yeah, the goofy pointy skirt. Just doesn't work at all.
That costume came in because of the Supergirl movie. DC didn’t like the headband but shoehorned it in because it was planned for the movie. Then the headband was dropped from the movie, leaving DC with an unwanted headband. DC must have been pretty narked about that.
I'm reminded of the JLA: Sins Of Youth comic, where Green Lantern Kyle Rayner has a different costume in every panel.
Superman : Fortress of Solitude.
Super girl : Cavern of Costumes.
A action figure company's wet dream.
Please, never stop. Nobody else does these things.
Cannot love this channel more.
I agree; that was the best version. I always loved the ties on the sandals in that costume, but I think Adventure 410 was the only time she wore them.
@@TheTooshoes Yep, by 411, the sandals had been replaced by the ballet slippers.
Now all we need is a “At the time of this recording “ shirt
I don’t like the logo being just on the belt. The big blue empty space on the chest looks strange on a super hero. It needs strips holes or something to help either the contrast, maybe take the sleeves or change the texture.
That's more or less why Powergirl works
@@ExeErdna So True!
The costume wardrobe idea is awesome. They could use it to appeal to women and some men (without long, boring dinner parties where nothing happens).
The hotpants costume has always been my favorite. Probably because that’s when I started reading comics. And I really hope you come back to this run of the series. It features a girl named NASTI!! So many questions.
Lol
Nasthalia Luthor, Lex’s niece.
Nasty I know her isn't she luthors niece. Great name
I consider the hot pants outfit her REAL costume, its the one she wore throughout my childhood. Adventure 408 was one of my first comic books (I was just out of kindergarten) and my father destroyed it after the story gave me nightmares! Still hate ghost stories!!!
I got #415 on January 1, 1972, a few weeks before my tenth birthday. That cover! Being dragged by her hair--yikes!
Now I want Araki to do fashion for Marvel/DC characters.
Angel dust yessss
That would probably be really cool
As a priest in the Church of the Algorithm, I bless this video with a comment.
Amen
I was excommunicated...-_-
Following that logic, I probably qualify as a Heathen. But I’m still a sucker for great content, and story!!!!👏👏👍
I light this votive comment for the Engagement
At 1st I was against the different get-ups .but when u see how much the artist(Mike ) enjoyed drawing them. It total changed my mine..
Will the whims ever take us to the Peter David Supergirl run? Asking for a friend.
I can't believe how long it took me to recognize the Buffy references!
PAD is easy to talk to on the Facebook, why not see about doing an interview?
Wasn't she an alien duplicate or something. They ruined Supergirl for decades after Crisis, though eventually, they made her a cool character who is more compelling than Superman.
I have...highly conflicted feelings about Mr. David.
@@thomasdeja523 same but I’m talking about the work itself.
I'm so old.
1. I'm actually a big fan on the tennis outfit, has a kinda alien futuristic vibe
Well, he did commit the sin of bringing back a legacy character…
@Will N I'm convinced Dan Didio doesn't like anything
About time you took a long hard look at Mike Sekowsky's work. Especially the "Inferior 5" Go on. Do it! Do it, do it, do it!
"Inferior Five" is right in the Casually Comics lane!!
If it’s the Inferiors you’re wanting , the Strange Brain Parts RUclips channel has a wonderful presentation. But it’s mostly bits & matter of fact type stuff. But I would LOVE to see Sasha’s take on it!!,,
Except for what happened to Dumb Bunny and Merryman post-crisis. Could’ve gone my whole life without that.
This reminds me, did he work on the Metal Men during the time they looked human? He was all about changing up images.
@@scottboswell6406 Yeah he did. Mercury as an artist, Platinum as a model? Mike at his best.
6:48 After this issue, demands for Supergirl team-ups with Aquaman increased by 1,000%
They should make Aquaman the male version of the princess and babe characters.
"What is keeping that up?"
me: Tactile telekinesis?
I remember the TV series Supergirl going through her fashion parade when trying to choose a costume (particularly the "I wouldn't wear this to the beach!" outfit) - all of which had been SG's costume at some point.
You do know that this video just prompts me to request respectfully that you do these two things:
1) An overview of THE DARING NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERGIRL, the 80's series that features what might be the single ugliest outfit Kara ever wore; in my head cannon DC wasn't killing Supergirl in CRISIS, they were killing that outfit.
I’m a fan of evening wear
I think one of those DC/Marvel Universe handbook catalogues of characters that features all the fig costumes throughout the years would be cool.
Marvel had a super-heroine in the '40's called the Blonde Phantom who wore an evening gown & mask. Never read any of her stories, but she looks great.
Some of these costumes look like Kara started getting ready, then realized there were too many pieces and just rushed out with whatever she had on.
Ha! At 6:03, that's a rare Mercedes C111! The artist definitely had taste lol
Was that a DeLorean on one of the pages? Maybe Doc did build a time machine!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mike Sekowski sounds like he really would've been at home on a Katy Keene type of book
Loving a lot of these, and more than a few just need a minor adjustment to be just fine. I was impressed by the Supergown, though!
"Where are the bottoms on this one, Ellen?" Best line.
"What is she wearing'" was my guest host's reaction to the contest costume on my channel last year. It was in a video on Lex Luthor's, her nemesis.
I love your "Supergirl voice", Sasha; it's somewhere between Marilyn Monroe and Judy Jetson!
I always like the puffy sleeves, hot pants, and slippers.
Thank you for the retuospective on Supergirl's costumes.
You always do an absolute great job on research.
I tune in for your research, yet your wig options are also enjoyable. :)
You should make this a playlist. I can see it now “ superheroes and the costumes more criminal than the villains “
LOL Sounds like fun!
I mostly remember Kara from her time with the LSH, particularly the poofy blouse and hot-pants look.
That "suimsuit" outfit of Kara's reminds me of the kinds of costumes you saw in the late Silver/Bronze Age of the Legion.
@@Emptybee Yeah, it would have gone over pretty well in the Grell era.
@@Emptybee I especially like Princess Projectra's costume. Mmmm!!
I like the fan contests, it's cool seeing fans have so many ideas, but the winners should always get some money too
The Barbarella cut body suit is gold.
Old comics . Good times, Good times .
Some weird ones in there, but also some cool concepts. Though it always makes me question things when a character who flies where's a skirt/dress.
The Comics Code Authority WISHES it was approved by The Casually Comics Code.
I guess I'm with you on the hot pants and puffy sleeves costume, it's more iconic I think, or at least less weird. That wig you're wearing also really compliments your face, speaking of fashion. Good video, thanks.
I am partial to the DCAU costume, and I think the Arrowverse and 80's movie might be the same style. I like that too.
The what is keeping that up out fit , the side cut outs was a brief fashion Trent at the time. They looked good with a bubble umbrella
Lillie: “Hmm, what’s a super good costume look for me? Give me all the design.”
“Design me like one Super girls. Lol.”
(( Yes, I got a pic of a hero look made and using it just for the occasion. I wanted to look super cute.
I had no idea! I'm always hype for more Supergirl content though! Thank you sooo much for these!
I say you take your defense strategies where you find them.
I don't know, houndstooth mixed with horizontal stripes could be very off-putting, knock an opponent off balance.
I've been to New York Fashion Week. Plenty of things there made me want to run and hide lest I go blind. - MAL
Man, the Invisible Women almost went full Vampirella with that outfit.
Sash, you are my favorite. Love your voice, delivery and humor. Keep up the good work!
0:37 "Robin-rooters" a hilarious phrase to an Australian!
If you think those are bad check out (and please do a video) on the 1970s Legion of Superheroes costumes. Especially the Cosmic Boy one .
Only super being with a closet of uniforms....... while Batman running around in full zebra print
Lol.
I had no idea there had been that many costumes for Supergirl.
Great video, thanks for all the research
A woman who changes her wigs almost daily commenting on a heroine who changes her costumes almost issue to issue - - - Isn't it ironic, doncha think? ("Like rayy-ayy-ain, . . .") hahaha!!
I did like a few of these, but my favorite is still the hot pants/puffy shirt combo. I would switch the pixie shoes with knee high red boots, equestrian style.
I wish Supergirl had a "ninja" version of her costume.
This would be metal. She could train to be a Kryptonian ninja. Cassandra Cain was kind of a ninja Batgirl.
You should totally design it!!!!
I absolutely love that in a video about Supergirl Sasha managed to get a jab in at Sue Storm. Oh the wanton pettiness of it all, I love it❣
like costumes, issue 397, the one right behind the speech bubble (blue full body) , the kelly -bray fusion , the no capes, evening wear, issue 409, 410 ( but no long sleeves, same for the hot pants ) issue 412 (no belt), issue 415 ( change the red to blue , no gloves, cape , boots), giant issue 24 , page 1 (bell bottoms , minus the belt, ) page 2 ( blue blouse with red S ) page 3 ( the two with all leg boots , but no yellow belt and dangly chain)
You look so good with your hair like that ! Keep up the good work , I love your Channel 💗‼️
2 #17. (Probably just a coincidence, but I'd love to think that it wasn't -- like there was a scrapbook in some dusty drawer at the DC offices filled with crazy fan ideas ready to be exploited in the case of a writer's block emergency.) :-)
(And while we're on the topic of paying for fan idea, wasn't the symbiote Spider-Man outfit originally designed by a fan, which Jim Shooter only paid something like $200 for..?)
