This is a really nice instructional video. You speak and instruct while you're working which many guys don't do..... having to look at their headstock while they go on and on about what they're preparing to do. You're action man who talks as he works. You bloody beauty! Thank you ☆☆☆☆☆

Great idea to line it up. Thats a killer piece of wood for a neck. I’ve seen your work first- it’s spot on.

Thanks a lot. I've been wanting to do this on my old Kramer (the holes are 8mm) to replace the tuners. This is a neat solution.

I have had good luck with Step Bits. They widen perfectly center to what ever size you want in MM.

This actually is pretty easy if you have a drill press. Very safe method, similar to drilling out the string-through holes for a hardtail bridge.

Didn't look all that difficult to me - - seems like a reasonable method to use if you don't have the proper stepper or something...

So why not add what your method is so viewers can understand why?
I get criticism as long as it's constructive and yours isn't.

We all have our methods, some more complicated than others. Use whatever method you’re confident with.

A 'prop reamer' is for RC airplanes and a popular one (for about $15) cuts both 8mm and 10mm diameter bores.... and that is just what we want for 8mm hole headstocks (import Teles are famous for that and of nice maple and well made). Chuck the reamer in a drill press and carefully go from 8mm to 10 mm diameter and deep enough to let the modern 10mm barrel press in from the headstock REAR... the depth is also just about 9mm deep. 9mm depth is needed for a 10 mm diameter tuner. And do it yourself and skip a repair guy and buy decent tuners online (Wilkinsons from Korea's Jin Ho factory are nice and cheap). BEST done on a small drill press with the headstock rested face down flat on a small block. 6 holes are reamed in about 2 minutes, working carefully.

I've used a Harbor Freight reamer with great success to that same thing.

Never drill to finish size, the holes you have are 8 mm if you must drill 3/8 in reverse than finish with 10mm reamer

NIce, drill bit guide to get the size.

That 10mm bit...is that a forstner bit? Maybe update the video and tell us why we might need one of those? Just a suggestion.
    Nice video, by the way.

What would you do.... I am at the stage of either fretting my neck or finishing it first and then fretting it. It is very hard to sand in between the frets after to get that beautiful finish. I have a 50th anniversary Strat that was sprayed with lacquer after being fretted.
What are your thoughts on this???

Could've been done quicker and easier if you used a hand reamer
