I’m from Nebraska and had the same growing up with my dad. Seriously pry have made it pry 5 times in the last week and in a half for dinner and supper.
Good to have those memorable moments from people you love keep them with you for as long as you can Mark. May he “ Descance in Paz”. Grew in a dairy like you mom would make us fried baloney and egg sandwich. Back then we didn’t have many choices.
Those are good. When i worked at the almond huller the boss's wife would bring out fried bologna and egg sandwiches every morning to us all. She knew us teenagers probably didn't have breakfast.
Great memories, Thanks. I still reach for my phone occasionally to call my folks. Memories are what we have and they are so treasured. Starting Sunday mornings with a tear or two is always a good thing. Keep up all the good work you are doing. Don
I love hearing love stories and great memories of late moms and dads! My late dad also loved his fried eggs...he would even make his omelettes for work sandwiches! My dad died in 2012 at 83. The whole family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren surrounded him. His passing was a beautiful one, and he knew we were there, we dimmed the lights, put on his favorite music, we held him, we cried on his chest and told him how much we loved him and thanked him for raising us with so much love and would miss him and it was time to let go from his suffering. He had previously a grey skin tone from being sick and things started happening, he had 5 little smiles ,then at his last breath you could see his face light up and he took one last huge smile and that was his end! We always felt he was obviously seeing something at the other end and being believers to Christ Jesus, we knew he was seeing his loved ones waiting for him. We wonder at his huge ear to ear smile, just before his final breath, did he see the face of the Lord? We find comfort in that! We cant judge anyone for how they go about death. Facing it or not because it is very hard to say goodbye to your loved one, I keep his memory alive by thinking of the great times when he was alive and not on his passing. Mark you are so sweet to share this personal feelings and for that, thank you so much! You really are a gentle giant with a heart of gold!
I understand about your Dad, my mom had Alzheimers. The picture of your granddaughter and him is precious. I sat by my Mom, Dad and Uncle's side as they took their last breath so by the time my older brother was passing I just could not do it. So, I understand, you were wise to make the choice you did & remember him during the good years before, those are precious memories. Thanks for the recipe I will make it for my hubby. Have a nice day.
Hi Mark, What an awesome looking breakfast! Such a wonderful tribute to the dads!! I too lost my dad to Alzheimer’s and it was painful watching his decline…sadly, I was not with him when he passed and that broke my heart! However, I was with my mom and oldest brother when they took their last breath, watching the peacefulness on their faces, gave me peace knowing they were no longer suffering!
