Easy: He was a decent Goalkeeper. In the final he got concussion , made the mistake ,and was criticized by his own team and literly every football fan and was under a lot preasure and he never recovered from it, Physical and Mental....
Just watch Besiktas vs Alanyaspor Replay played today and see how karius is recovering. I think if we could play with no goalkeeper there is no way away team could score. No goalkeeper safer then Karius. Since club has no money and back up goalkeeper he is sadly our only way to relieve stess at matches by swearing or keep booing him untill he leave us.
@array s ofc not he is so bad you can watch 2 recent match of Beşiktaş to see how bad he is. He does every mistake he can do every match. With a normal goalkeeper we could be leader of the leauge as Beşiktaş.
At Liverpool he did only fail at one game. At Besiktas he makes one every 2nd game at least.

I can sympathise with him sooo much.
I was a young goalie of only 13 and was promised a tryout for the scouts.
But that faithful day I was promised that... I... just wasn't right in the head. No idea why. I let EVERY shot through. It could have been a shot from the midfield. IT was in. And it wrecked me. I never recovered from that and quit 2 months later. It can end careers. Just imagine if I had already focused on making my career as a keeper. Dear lord that poor guy! Years of training and performance... gone in a day.
I feel bad for him.......
this is where good coaches comes in, someone like Sir Alex and Wenger, they know how to inspire and gives confidence, being a coach is not just about knowing football the psychology is also very important.

It's not like his career suddenly declined after that ominous CL finale. His game was packed with errors earlier, he never was a good enough goalkeeper for Liverpools high standards and it's for the better for either parties that he got replaced.
