I like how linus always speaks like he is about to swear and is at his edge
Yeah. 😂
Because he is. This video probably took a team of editors an entire week to clean up hahahaha
Nvidia PTSD
ye, more or less speaking through his teeth with a clenched neck lol
He appears nervous/camera/people shy
This is scripted. How do i know? Because Linus said the thing that excites him the most about open source is all these people ...
really?
@@dude2542 99% chnace, cause linus hates people..,
😂
He's not the most friendly person, but linux is open source since 0.01 and if he not cared about other people he certainly would not do that. Also if you look at old interviews(pre 2020) linus always wanted to show his work to other people.
@@yrds96He's on the record as explicitly saying he hates people.
I remember when I first got Linux on my cheap PC. I felt so cool, like I was sitting at a Sun workstation in some super-high-tech research place.
We are living in golden age.. people who changed the world and future are living today..
480p in 2024 just looks like AI
Thank god linus held his anger for 1.14 mins... Before going boom ... 😂
Short and sweet word from Linus!
is this a call for devs to help out the linux project? or are you trying to sell courses, because that's how it looks
Linus, what happened to you? Blink three times if they force you to be overpositive.
may be they force him to micro kernal OS 😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
250 million dollars per year and 2% of that spent on Linux.. That's what happened.
Unless you break user space. Then you better stay away from the email chain for a while 🤣
Nah, I’ll do it tomorrow
Will it ever be user friendly ?
Mint
Most versions of Ubuntu
Peppermint
Pop!_OS
There are tons of incredibly beginner friendly Linux distros.
Is this AI generated?
This is for real :)
But panhandling pays so much better.
Linus looks like he's gritting his teeth the whole video haha!
Strange yeah
creating the most used OS of all time only cost him all of his patience.
480p in 2024: a remarkable open-source advertisement
Pure efficiency.. Getting the point across while not wasting bandwidth.
@@B-a_s-H 🤣
@@B-a_s-H It's funny because the exact same original video was posted in 1080p 8 years ago, talk about not wasting bandwidth...
What would you even do with this video in 2160 or 4k?
Examine individual sweat pores on Linus' face?
The content is in 4k
Passed my Linux+ recently, love to hear this lol! good luck to everyone going in and already in, we all got this. young or old, experienced or fresh to the field, we've got each others backs
Remember kids: This foundation gets 250 MILLION dollars/year (!!!) and spends 2% of that on the Linux Kernel... Amazing.
what do they spend the rest on?
@@rezah336 Their own costs/salaries and buzzword projects pass their trend days like IoT and Blockchain, the new cloudy one is: AI. Remember this is the LINUX foundation and it spends 98% of their budget on things NOT Linux.
Happy to be the 1st comment here, the 32 subscriber, and 333th viewer of this..
FOSS has already won ❤🎉..
matter of time before domestic adoption
Thanks and welcome aboard. Cheers :)
FOSS? "free and open source"? you know that's redundant right? all Free Software can be classified as open source software as well (but not the other way around)
I guess this is Linus's way of saying: "Please send help! I have a gun to my head!"
may me Bill gates after him 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😁😁😁😁😁
choose a Career 😂, I can't find a job forget choosing a job
Open source for the win!
Open source linux is when blobs and proprietary stuff in the kernel out of the box
Choose a career in Linux and Open source so you can starve and get yelled at if you try to ask for any money for your work.
This looks like ai
Thats how we know its truly linus in the video
He's just finnish
@@luucent 😁
It's interesting to think that the most important part of every device you see today was a side project back in the days.
Does one make a career from a permanently free OS, software?
Yeah
Calibre is a succes story in that regard for example. I remember there is an interview too maybe on medium. If you can find a popular enough niche, that nobody really filled up you can make a carrier out of it.
L (into) u x..
...what does it mean..
what means X..
multiplicator?expand?
I chose a career in investment banking and then when that went to sh!t in 2008 I chose a career in pizza delivery
Man this Looks like Ai Generated
For quality satire, press "5" repeatedly.
This is AI lol
Does Linux have a good Hebrew language pack? 🇮🇱
No, convert to Islam and learn Arabic 🦀🦀
Spoiler, unlike Linus you won't be paid thousands of dollars to be a professional code reviewer, you'll be like Lasse Collin, overworked, stressed out and not being paid a penny for your trouble
If you only work on FOSS in your freetime, then yes.
But it is entirely possible to work a well-paid job with FOSS.
Granted, for the extremely well-paying jobs you need to invest time to become known beforehand but for every standard, run-of-the-mill dev or admin position there exist positions focusing on FOSS.
Despite the job market being a little weird right now, I'd still say it's a matter of willingness.
Forget it. Linux is great cause it can be upgraded remotely. Period. This is it.
This is oddly reductive. Are you sure you are talking about this kernel and related technologies that almost everything depends upon?
@@Digo-eu Never saw a comment more unrelated, pompous and stupid than yours
i don't care about remote upgrades sorry bro
@@shallex5744 Paul G cares only about it. Sorry u r not of any level to care ONLY about it.
@@GEMSofGOD_com i don't know who paul G is but that's cool i guess
I need someone to teach me freely how to create new OS from zero by Rust, I only care about Sanpdargon Plus CPU
Linux is very old and ugly, please create new OS from zero by Rust and teach us everything, consider it an educational course 🥰🥰🥰 and make the main screen says #freePalestine
Linux isn't Open Source. Free as in Free Speech, not Free Beer. Which Means, My Gob is Saying its Free. My Gob has the Freedom to Say Whatever it Wants, be it Lies. Linux is Not Free as in Free Beer. Which Means you Have to PAY for an Inferior Product.
I Could Write 100 Page Documents in Word for Windows 3.0.
Open Office Crashes on Single Page Documents. Windows 3.0 didn't Switch between User Mode and Kernel Mode. 25 MHz Processors, Couldn't do That. You Need 100 MHz for Windows NT 3.0.
Windows XP (Borg / Avatar ) Needs 300 MHz. A Linux System, that is functionally Equivalent 1 GHz.
Unreal Engine isn't Open Source. The Open Source Free Version is Buggy: The Game Character Falls THROUGH the Floor and dis-Appears, Occasionally.
Kernel Kesaria is 8 Times (800%) Faster.
Believe, it Or Not. The Goal was to Make a SECURE Operating System, Not a Faster One.
Minix? Tanenbaum isn't The Only P1G, that knows, if You Separate Code into Separate Processes. Then the System becomes More Reliable and Secure.
However, I Knew That Wouldn't Work. So, I Chose a HARDWARE Method.
The Decision to go to 128 bit was for Security. The Expanded Address Space means: We Could have Valid and Invalid Virtual Address Spaces. Our Chips are Faster (4X=400% Faster). Going to 128 bit made us Faster.
Then Moving the Process Scheduler and Memory Management into The Kernel was for Security. A Hardware based Security Mechanism, made us Even Faster.

You're Not Linux.
Linux is Intel. Now they're Dead, You're Gonna Have to Go to ARM Linux, which is Sony.
Sony Dieing, You're Gonna Have to Go to NXP Semiconductors. Only 100 MHz.
After a Few Years they Might get to 500 MHz.
Its Gonna Take them a Decade to Get to 1 GHz.
