not to far from where you guys were, i found a small yard with about 17 CW bullets in it and some other stuff. Hope you guys had fun, if you're ever in destin hit me up and we can do some beach water hunting. GL and HH
Went through that tunnel many a time going to my grandfather who lived in Theodore Mobile. That is a NCO sword. The stamp markings could confirm authenticity. But the scabbards were black with brass end pieces.
A Civil War NCO Sword. "Emerson & Silver Trenton, N.J." on the racosso on one side and "US DFM 1865" on the other side. "DFM" was the initials for Dexter F. Mosman an inspector for the US Army Ordinance Dept. The sword is 38 in. overall length, with a 6 in. hilt. The hilt is cast brass in a wire wrap design and the guard is also cast brass. The guard is stamped DFM as well. The blade is 32 in. in length with a fuller the full length of the blade which gives a T shape to the blade. Sounds original!! Good find AE.
Thanks for bringing us along. Mobile looks like a nice city. When I saw fried pickles on the menu, I remembered I had them once and they were yummy. Before I tasted them I didn't thing it would taste good, but I was wrong. LOL. I hope your new sword is authentic. it looks to be in very good condition. Take care, God Bless.
The Bankhead tunnel you went thru was named after John Bankhead, a U.S. senator from Alabama. He was the grandfather of Tallulah Bankhead, the film actress. It was also featured in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", when Richard Dreyfuss chases a UFO thru the tunnel. Just some useless trivia for ya'll!!!
Nice tour of Mobile , nice sword. My Dad has one that was found run through a door, got to ask the rest of the story I don’t remember. 🤦🏻♀️ hope your sword is legit! ~ Texas
EA you were like two miles from my place when you went throught the Bankhead tunnel... Should have hollered at me.... Could have cut a water melon.....lol.. Next time ya get a chance go to Ed's on the causway... The best seafood!
The blade is too clean. I have an English cutlass bought in the UK, Its made by mole and son. It's in good condition but there's pitting on the blade and makes it look old. I believe in to be old. It's a curved blade, the English began to straighten them in the 1800s.
Allergic to cooked mushrooms? Might want to double check that one, raw I can understand some sensitivity to spores. If passing the mushrooms to the bride ( finer than frogs hair and congrats ), should still affect your original food. Been watching you for a couple years now, never missed a vid except tractor related, just not my thing. Cant' wait till deer season, good luck. I lived in Highland Home Ala. Sword almost had to many markings, But enough short and with numbers to be believable, My guess is real. I'm not an expert and my guess means nothing.
Is it real or is it Memorex? Haven't a clue! Bet you paid 4000 rubles? I don't do raw seafood or any shellfish. Love shrimp, trout, and salmon, never had crawdad. Not a big fan of seafood despite growing up on the Central Coast of California. Love seeing towns I've never been to! Streets sure are skinny.
if the sword you bought made you excited and happy then you win, regardless of real or replica it's yours to enjoy
