Double jointed bits are more unsteady in the horses mouth than single jointed bits ☺️ my Old lease was NOT happy in double jointed.. a little better with the single, but for us a regular mullen mouth was the absolute Best! ☺️

So I'm teaching my quarter horse to jump (he's a ranch horse with really athletic confirmation no one panic) bad ppl are always like, "you're teaching your QUARTER HORSE to jump🙄" (spoilers we also do well in dressage) and it's SO ANNOYING. But anyway I'm super excited for you and zaz💙💙

It's been 6 years with a Traumatic Brain Injury and honestly any more functionality would be great. Then I could focus on getting fit and riding again! Also, yes 200$ for breeches made my head pop off. It would probably be cheaper to buy used, but even then it's like 150$ still and I'm like HOW?? At the end of the day they're just pants... 🙃👖

i bought the kerrits paper breeches a couple years ago and was so offended when i put them on im happy someone agrees with me lolll... but i returned them and got irideon tights and theyre my favorite riding pants rn hands down
💙🔥 I dont have many problems with breeches, but every pair of boots I've owned have given me blisters! From $100 tuffrider tall boots to $500 ariat tall boots! Even my paddock boots give me blisters!
Sometimes if you oil them before you ride, they'll bend and start to mold to your foot / leg. Don't do it too much or they'll stretch out and start to fit wrong, but it can help! Also reinforced socks like Noble Outfitters has! (or at least they used to)
It seems like all breeches brands are turning towards silicone but they always leave prints on my saddle like my dressage saddle legit has tiny little kerrits all over it😭

Warning, wall of text incoming About single, double and no joint(?) bits First of all: not a native speaker and I do not know the right technical terms. Hope this is still understandable. I’ve seen a video from one of the trainers in the “Spanish riding school of Vienna”. Although I completely disagree with their training methods they had an interesting approach about bits. The theory of one of the instructors was, that bits without a joint are softer then the ones with one joint. According to her double joint bits are not soft at all. Bits always lay on a thin piece of skin right above a quiet sharp bone (Google says it’s called “bars”?). That causes discomfort. How to get rid of the discomfort? By using the only muscle in their mouth to lift up the bit. The tongue. With no joint: easy fix. Single joint: much harder. Double joint: very wobbly. Also because the tongue is the only muscle in direct contact with the bit, the wobbly-er the bit the tougher to move the bit to release pressure. I think that’s a very interesting theory! Maybe that’s the reason why Zoë doesn’t mind the single joint bits as much as the double joint? Also: 💙🔥

I actually just switched my 5yo ottb to a single jointed snaffle, my new trainer said she’s found a lot of TBs weirdly prefer it. So far, so good.

Have you tried her in a ported bit like a Myler? Horses that like single jointed bit are often sensitive to downward tongue pressure
