      It’s especially sad imo, cuz other than Deku and Bakugou, he’s kinda like All Might’s only other family still left in this world. I like to think Nana, Gran Torino, Dave, and Nighteye are all like family to him. (I know that Dave is still alive, but we rarely see him see in that sense he’s kinda out.) Nana, Nighteye, and now Gran Torino having all passed on, it’s pre-destined that anyone allied on the side of One For All and the Symbol of Peace’s cause will be killed in gruesome ways. And we know it’s only a matter of time until All Might bites the dust.

    The Eri flashback panel at the end of the chapter could also be a parallel of the Shigaraki flashback panel at the beginning of the chapter: Eri as the one person who was saved from the suffering of her quirk (being used as a tool by Overhaul) to be given another chance at happy life by heroes, while Shigaraki is the one who was not saved from the suffering of his quirk, and not given another chance through the rejection of hero society. There are other parallels like Kota is one to Kotaro. The difference being Deku as the one person to help save Kota from resenting his parents when they died (as they were heroes who protected strangers). In the case of Gran Torino, he didn't meddle like he could have for Kotaro (in order to respect Nana's wishes to not interfere with giving up/making contact with her son, which is completely valid). However for Kota, Deku did meddle to try to understand where Kota's resentment of his parents and hero society came from, then he proved himself with heroic actions (not just lip service). Kotaro didn't have that help so he resented Nana, and unfortunately that lead to Tenko becoming Shigaraki, with exploitation of the situation by AFO.

      That might be Horikoshi's way to convey how this new generation is meant to be better, not just in terms of raw power, but as heroes than the previous ones. Horikoshi is always putting the students in positions where they get to inspire children, whether it is Kota, the siblings of the second movie, Eri or even the kids in the license exam of Bakugou and the rest. Just them are enough reason to fight Shigaraki beause he doesn't give a fuck whether those kids die or not.

    • @raec5426
      @raec5426 4 года назад +2

      @@escribalma_h Yep, those seeds have been planted in the story along the way.
      In regard's to Deku character, the themes are collective effort and he has to gain new understanding to somehow change the current system. He also can draw some understanding of being rejected by society to a degree before meeting All Might with him previously being quirkless. He also represents legacy and the passing of the torch of the next generation. OFA reflects that theme of collective effort as it is a power that was passed through many users, each user passing it on in hopes to defeat AFO, needing the collective power of the next user in hopes of future success. Showing why Deku getting OFA reflect this theme. Deku has to learn to not repeat the mistakes of All Might somehow, which likely is not being a lone pillar as a individual like he was, which lead to complacency, so that the new generation can step up as a whole to reflect societal change -- again reflecting that theme of success through collective effort.

    A big issue with how Shigaraki keeps blaming everything on hero society is that his issues are actually not because of hero society.
    Hero society is a society that exalts heroics and powerful/flashy quirks.
    Someone like Gentle Criminal or even Deku is an example of an issue actually created by hero society, where their sense of self-worth depends on how well they can do heroics and their lack of means to do so gives them issues (Gentle desperately trying to be a hero and screwing everything up on his attempts or Deku miserable life as a quirkless kid trying to become a hero)
    Bakugo and Endeavour are also examples of the issues made by hero society, since all their issues come from reactions to the power of their quirks (or lack of power), with Bakugo getting an insufferable ego because his quirk is so powerful, while Endeavour fell into despair at seeing how powerful All Might was and ended attempting to breed a new quirk that had none of the limitations his had.
    While Shigaraki issues are the following:
    1) A family broken because a villain is so powerful that those who dare to fight him put their families at risk. This is a issue that hero society is specifically designed to counter, current heroes do not have this problem and what Shigaraki is doing would bring that issue back.
    2) A powerful, uncontrollable quirk. Another issue that hero society is specifically designed to counter, since having an ordered classification of quirks is beneficial to it. Shigariki's case was just too powerful and sudden for any rational form of control to manage, as his first use of his quirk was dusting his entire family.
    3) Not being helped by random strangers. That is called people being assholes and it is a reality of human nature. This society is one that actively demands you to be heroic, that puts the spotlight on heroes and makes everyone want to be one. If in this society people don't want to help, then they wouldn't want to help in any other form of society anyway.
    So in resume, Shigaraki issues are not because of hero society, he is just parroting what the 2 people who have defined his life the most (his father and AfO) have told him.

    • @zillafire101
      @zillafire101 4 года назад +1

      Well, no. His entire issue was that everyone looked at a literal child bleeding and battered, wandering barefoot in the city without parents, and ignoring him. Even getting past the "It's human nature to be shitty" bullshit (It's not), no one abandons a child to the streets and not try and help.
      People were literally telling him to his face that heroes will help and brush him off expecting someone else to do it. When a society encourages people to leave every problem to heroes or police and even leave children to the streets, that's a weak society. Shigaraki has every right to be pissed.

    • @Adser261
      @Adser261 4 года назад +2

      @@zillafire101 "no one abandons a child to the streets and not try and help." Really? You think that? We have a lot of well documented examples of that in reality to talk like it is something that can't happen.
      Also, MHA society encourages you to be heroic, they have given the position of heroes such glamour that most people want to be them, and the laws that try to control un-regulated heroics is like those PSAs telling kids to not do this extremely awesome thing.
      The people in a society like MHA who leave everything to the heroes is people with a predisposition to do so, since the incentives to be a hero is much bigger than the deterrents to do so. You can also see it in Shigaraki flashback. People did get close to him to try and help, but once they noticed that helping him was not an easy thing they decided to fall back and let someone else take care of him. It is not that their society didn't incentivize them to help, its that they were simply not willing to do the effort to actually help.
      The point is not that Shigaraki got dealt a bad hand, is that he is parroting the viewpoint of 2 people who's issues with the hero system are not actually born from a failure in the hero system itself. His "revolution" is irrelevant and what will come out will be way worse for people in his situation that now.
      Shigaraki dad issue with the hero system was that her mum had to leave him so AFO didnt kill him, something that in the current society under All Might is not possible as the villains don't have the power to be so brazen.
      AFO issue with hero society is just that he can no longer make the world bend to his whim, something that is decidedly a plus for everyone else.

    • @zillafire101
      @zillafire101 4 года назад

      @@Adser261 What I mean is very few people would see a battered, beat up child on the streets as strangers and not try and help. Shitty parents and guardians happen, but not every single person is a shitty person dude. I can google right now countless cases where strangers found a lost child, stepped in to help out, and saved them.
      I have never heard of a kid being left on the streets and everyone just passing by.
      What are you talking about? Heroes are glorified to the absence of everyone else. No one is allowed to use their Quirks, and if they are Quirkless or have a useless Quirk, they're relegated to the background and dregs of society. It's been show how you use your Quirk is even regulated by police, and unless you're a hero, you have no freedom to use it. Even stopping Stain from murdering two people was considered a crime in their society.
      Also no, they didn't "Stop because it would've been hard", what bollocks. They chickened out and said "Well, sucks kiddo, a hero can do it though". No one tried to do anything in the flashbacks, that's the whole issue. No hero came, and no person decided to lend a helping hand.
      And he did get dealt a bad hand, everything about him is almost cosmic levels of bad luck. No one in his family tried to stop the abuse, no one close to his family stepped in, no one on the streets helped him except the worst possible villain to ever breath. The whole point of the LoV is that everyone ignored them, brushed them aside and allowed the system to screw them over and did nothing.
      I'm also not defending either the Revolution or AfO. Yeah, AFO is a psychotic asshole with a love of power, and the PLF have their issues, but the fact that society is so flawed the PLF can rise to such power, and so many people rally to Shigaraki, shows that this society is horrifically flawed and ignores the worst parts to fester.

Why wouldn't she say that if it was both their son? He was also there for All Might. He calls her by her last name, yet calls All Might by his first name. I think the reason behind shigaraki's line " Heroes hurt their families to help complete strangers" is because of his father(shimura's son), who we know, believes his mother abandoned him.
      The decision part line, i think should be "The decision we made...was it.. (a mistake/or wrong)." maybe at this point they already fought All for One.then they realize how dangerous All for one really is so they decided to sever shimura's connection with her son.(probably the reason why all might doesn't have a family,also because i think all for one is dominating at that time (because young All might mentioned that the crime rate in the country is not decreasing and all for one mentioned that All might smashed his comrades one by one) that is why all previous one for successors died young(according to all might's research... I think?)
      But i don't know exactly. They could have just sent shimura's son to America just like all might..
      (Sorry for bad English).

      You’re theory is brain dead. She had a husband literally BEFORE they encountered each other. He then met her and found out he had died. But she had already had a kid at that point before to meeting Gran Torino as well

    What no one is talking about is how will All Might react? The last connection he had to his mentor Nana was killed by her own blood, a twisted and corrupted person who became a monster which no hero was able to save, All Might has been in pain for a long time now and his pain got worse with Nighteye's death and now GT. If you stop to think about it in MHA world is much easier to be a villain than to be a hero, that explains why even with gods like All Might and Endeavour ppl still would choose the path of villainy specially ppl with 'evil' quirks, this is 100% how the world would be if quirks existed.

    I'm convinced that this is going to change the dynamic of the series. Honestly, the things that Shigaraki said were pretty on the on the nose with members of the pro hero job line up. You could sense the regret that Gran Torino had in his final moments of life, realizing that this decision he and his friend made was wrong. This super powered society is warped in that citizens see trouble or troubled individuals, and think that a hero will come in and save the day. They do nothing to help because someone else has it covered. Shigaraki is right. This idea is now bubbling up and flowing over with the emergence of the new king of darkness. I do not sympathize, but I understand where he's coming from. Seeing Midoriya burst into tears and charge into a rage after Shigaraki dealt the final blow to Gran Torino is heartbreaking. Also, praying for Aizawa's safty.

    I love this chapter so much just because of how much it shows the full resentment of Shigaraki to the heroes society and why he does. Gran Torino felt that pain coming from him because he's the one that influenced that decision. Also, with the way these chapters have been going, Aizawa getting hit by that bullet is going to be the best way to go, him losing his quirk might be the only way for Eri to understand her powers, she's going to be the clutch that will save the heroes. Her and Shigaraki are in two opposing ends now where they were both initially resented by their family for their quirk, used by powerful individuals but the only difference is that Eri was saved by Deku. They both would've been on the same side if it weren't for him.

What Shigaraki is doing here is using his own pitty and hatred against Society to blame everyone else BUT him. He is the factor not people around him. And thats why I dont agree with you. Blaming others for your own failure is the easiest way and Shigaraki is using this to blame everyone else but him. He doesnt want to be accepted or wants to be part of Society he straight up doesnt even know what he actually wants. I dont call it bad story telling but its not how I see him. Blaming Society in this story for creating him is straight up not true. He knew what he was doing and still blames heroes and Society .. I dont buy this shit. Horikoshi knows better.

      @Crazy-vb9oz 4 года назад +1

      Michael M.
      No he doesn’t really know better because he was raised by all for one to be a villain. But before that he was abused by his father, how hated heroes because his mother left him- and Gran Torino before his death has the thought that they probably made the wrong decision to leave their families in order to be heroes, which is what shigaraki states. “Heroes abandon and neglect their own families to save strangers.” Then he continues to talk about the rot in society, which Shigaraki experienced when no passerby would help him because it was a hero’s job. Then he was picked up by all for one.
      Now I have the feeling all for one might have had a hand in messing with his family in the first place, but even so this backstory shows things that are inherently wrong with hero society- as do all of the villains backstories. Then you add into that what we know about Endeavor and what he did to his family, that’s why this monologue was told to him.
      These villains may chose to do evil, whether it’s for some cause like Dabi or just to burn the world like Shigaraki, these villains were made as a result of hero society. It doesn’t mean they are right to be violent, but when all of a sudden you have so many villains popping up at the same time who were abandoned in some form or another’s because of how society approaches things like quirks, or mental health, or child development, or family, and a bunch of other shit- that shows there is a problem.
      Even Midoriya, he spent the majority of his life bullied to all hell because people only wanted to find worth in his quirk. And then it came to career day and the teacher literally said, what’s it matter you all want to become heroes. That’s a problem.
      Obviously the villains doing bad things is bad, but just because they are in the wrong doesn’t mean that they are the only ones in the wrong. Fighting to save people doesn’t automatically make you righteous.
      Look at Hawks and Twice. Arguably Twice was a huge threat to people so it was necessary to take him out, but does that mean it was right of Hawks to kill him? Even Hawks thinks he was a good person. By then maybe it was inevitable, but Twice wouldn’t have been there if it hadn’t been for better circumstances. The commission straight up said fuck the collateral as long as the villains go down. Let’s just off best Jeanist, that’s cool. Then there’s the fact that the commission raised a child soldier which is an issue itself.
      In fact, there was an entire scene where Hawks talks about his time with the Liberation front and how he was surprised at all the normal people there, and how he didn’t actually disagree with their philosophies but wouldn’t allow Shigaraki to burn the world so he couldn’t side with them. The dissatisfaction speaks volumes. We are looking at the main villains but there’s still a few hundred thousand that are pissed off about the way things are.
      I’m not saying the villains are justified.
      Shigaraki May be responsible for the shit he does now, but society still failed him pretty fucking hard.
      There can be a shared blame.
      You can fight villains but shit doesn’t get better unless you stop and wonder where the fuck the villains are coming from, if they improved on General lifestyle most of the main villain cast probably wouldn’t even be there. The liberation front wouldn’t exist. Nobody listens to anybody but heroes because the hero voices are too fucking loud, so now people are turning to violent means of getting attention.

    Does anyone recall what Joaquin Phoenix said in 'Joker' before he shot the TV host? "What do you get when you cross a mentally ill loner with a society that abandons him and treats him like trash? You get what you f**kin' deserve!" (Copy and pasted from the ScreenRant 'Joker: 15 Quotes That Will Stick With Us Forever' page because my memory is crap) while Shigaraki may not have been mentally ill before the abuse became too much and then the trauma of his quirk awakening and annihilating his family, one cannot say that there is nothing wrong with him mentally after the fact and at the very least it is safe to say that his mind has been irrevocably warped by said events. At the same time, before he began to change into who and what his is now, I believe that he was something of a loner, as the only ones he seems to have interacted with before he had the League were AFO and Kurogiri. When you combine these factors, coupled with the fact that he is in essence hitting the nail completely on the head about just what the hero society is like, and everything he endured on his road to becoming this...being.
    Is it any wonder that he become what he is now.
    The world turned its back on him, and so instead of being naive and trying in vain to reach out and seize its attention or turning and running, desperately seeking that which he was denied, he turned his back on it resolute that if the world, if society did not need him, he did not need it.
    People who could have helped him waled on by, as though nothing were wrong. A sad fact of both our own world and the BNHA one is that people will often be too caught up in their own lives to care about anyone other than themselves, and those who do either have ulterior motives for doing so or are seen as being strange or having something wrong with them for doing so. No one outstretched a hand to him, no one gave a single D**n about him, except for the greatest villain that the world had ever known. What does that say about the society of BNHA?
    There is another quote, this one belonging to the game 'Azur Lane' that i believe can apply to this situation as well, the quote being variation of the quote used by Carl Jung when he said that 'No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell,' although i believe that the one from the game fits with the society of BNHA and the impact it has had on creating the force that is now posed to do something that while tragic and dark was doomed to happen from the beginning, that quote from the game is "Humankind, much like a tree, wishes to grow to reach the clouds; the light; the Heavens. As its branches grow, its roots do, too. Deeper and deeper into the ground; into darkness; towards Hell."
    The society of BNHA sought to make itself out to be a gleaming world of heroic virtues and morals, its people were granted powers that could have helped them reach that high plateau or at least and area near it, but in their haste to reach the sun they forgot that the closer they got to that light, the deeper and darker the shadow they cast became. They were so busy looking up, they never had the time or reason to look down at all they were making suffer through direct or indirect means in what was, in my opinion, a vainglorious effort for something wholly unrealistic. And now, at long last the result of all of their flaws and all of their sins, their own Angra Mainyu glares back at them.
    They brought this on themselves.
    And now the time has come to pay the piper.

    Shigaraki defining his purpose for being a villain is great however, I'm wondering where it's leading to. Shigaraki discusses the problem with the very system of heroes and how unself sufficient the masses had become to the point they all exhibit the bystander motif by default. It's an objective flaw and as his purpose he wants to destroy it.
    Horikoshi has given Shiga a motive by basically wanting to flip the scale for the abandoned to get their due. But, the more I hear it I'm more interested in what Deku adds to the table and what he would offer as the counter to this philosophy Shigaraki is putting out.

Deku has to learn to not repeat the mistakes of All Might somehow, which likely is not being a lone pillar as a individual like he was, which lead to complacency, so that the new generation can step up as a whole to reflect societal change -- again reflecting that theme of success through collective effort.

    i thought from the moment Deku Started running towards Shigaraki and Gran Torino appeared that gran torino was going to die. I just thought it was going to be in an attempt to save deku not whilst looking at shigaraki. It is really fuckin telling that gran torino kept saying, dont look at shigaraki like a nana grandson, but failed to do so when looking at him. Also is it just me, or did horikoshi just imply that Gran Torino and Nana Shimura where a couple and maybe that shigaraki is related also to gran torino

    The perfect example of a would be Shigaraki would be Hitoshi Shinso. Had Eraserhead not been someone to see the potential of him he might have given up after a while and become the villain society thinks he can be. Shigaraki had no one to show him the way of light and gravitated towards all for one.

  • @StringedBlock81
    @StringedBlock81 4 года назад +1

    I don't believe Aizawa is going to lose his quirk (or die) because of plot reasons, he still has to mentor Eri (and class 1-A) and be a parental figure to her (besides, if Eri's quirk goes out of control again Aizawa is the only one who can stop her); at least he's gonna get hurt or severely injured making him somewhat handicapped.
    So, what I really think is going to happen will be Manual losing his quirk, thus Aizawa ends up blinking, and in that brief moment Shiggy will break free from Deku, throws him away (cuz plot armor), possibly killing Ryuku while he's at it, and goes after Aizawa, and either Lock rock or Manual (or both) sacrifice themselves trying to protect him giving Endeavor or Deku enough time to attack, but Shiggy still manages to hit Aizawa (which brings me to my previous statement where Aizawa gets severely injured).
    Hope you like my theory :)
    Stay safe my guys.

    • @ayers01
      @ayers01 4 года назад +1

      What about Shinso? We saw him help get Deku's Black Whip quirk under control during the training arc. With Shinso also receiving training from Aizawa, he could transition into Aizawa's role on missions(I still see Aizawa teaching). Also it would give Eri more of a reason to manage to get her quirk under control. To eventually help her friends get their abilities back.

    • @StringedBlock81
      @StringedBlock81 4 года назад +2

      @@ayers01 I completely forgot about him lol.
      But yeah, he's another good reason why Aizawa won't die anytime soon, and if he ultimately loses his quirk, Shinso will be the perfect replacement (as you stated) and to control Eri's quirk as well; but as Chibi said in the video, Aizawa becoming quirkless can cause one of two things:
      Eri grows fearful to her quirk, making her more unstable and dangerous than she already is, or as you said
      She gets motivated to train harder in controlling her quirk in order to help her friends.
      Either way, it is a great plausible theory!

  • @lucas33308
    @lucas33308 4 года назад

    I agree with you Chibi, Manual will take the bullet OR Shiggy is actually aiming for him, because Shigaraki must want Aizawa's quirk, that would make his life easier and also because he doesn't have many bullets and he's not sure that the bullets work if he wanted to use them he would've done to Endeavour already, so it's better test them in the ppl that are keeping him at bay now and even if Aizawa's quirk is powerful it has a weakness which is Eraser having to blink and the one that has extended Aizawa's usage of his quirk is Manual and from all the ppl there the weakest quirk is his which Shiggy probably doesn't want, ppl say that Eraser 's quirk needs to go because is too powerful, just remember back than in the beginning of this series when normal Shigaraki was able to time Aizawa's blinking and land a decay blow, imagine now at Shigaraki's current state just one second is enough for him to erase everybody there, so no I don't think that Eraser needs to lose his quirk, if that happen it's game over , no hero can stop Shiggy not even Prime All Might not even let's say AFO himself could, for example, he's beating the heroes without any quirks.

    Just wanna say, I’ve noticed something within the anime community when it comes to stories where the oppressed have had enough. Whether its in AOT or MHA, its really like shit is split down the middle in regards to what side of the fence people are on. People who have be oppressed can clearly understand that what Shigaraki said is right, with so much truth but I’ve constantly seen people say they dont get what he’s talkin bout. Same with the Eren situation (tho i do understand thats a bit more complex, same situation tho). Some of y’all need expand your world view a bit. This aint for this particular community, just the anime community on a whole.

    One thing: I don't really blame neither Gran Torino or Nana, and while the argument of her son is kinda convicing and I can understand his resentment, it doesn't justify his actions nor the way he insterted that mentality into Shigaraki. To blame Nana and Gran Torino for "abandoning" her son would be similar (although not completely) as blaming a soldier in WWII (or any war for that matter) for "abandoning" their family, or a police officer, or someone fighting a dictatorship and knowing that his or her family is going to become a target (as someone living in venezuela, I have seen that played out).
    So yeah, I see the resentment but I also don't think it's quite fair to throw Nana and Gran Torino under the bus because of it.
    On the other side, regarding Shigaraki's motives, yes, he has good reasons to do what he's going and what he plans to do, but the society that will be built on top of what's left of the previous one it doesn't seem that is going to be any better, even with Redestro's people. It's like complaining about today's society, whether is you guys in the usa or where I live, wanting changing but not coming up with any good sustainable system that will actually make things better. Plus, whenever I think of Shigaraki's uncoming destruction I can just imagine children like Eri, the two siblings in the Heroes Rising movie, Kota and so on. Shigaraki doesn't give a fuck if they die or not, or if they are guilty or not, and that alone should be enough reason to fight him and say "fuck you" to his plans.
