Agree. He was toned down. The actor who plays David said the Heartstopper team wanted to show how both Nicks and David’s lives have been affected with a very distant father and that is why David could be the way he is but also not redeeming his actions

And in the show the dad forgot where he lived which seemed to upset David. That wasn’t in the books. The creator of Heartstopper said she was able to give more depth with David in the show but couldn’t do it like that in the comics
