Fun haul from the show! Thanks for the info on lavender moon quartz. Crystal shopping can be tricky and I appreciate your efforts to keep us in the know! Too bad though, it's far less appealing knowing it's a man made product even if it's made with natural items.... it's now in the heat treated citrine and aura pieces category for me. Thank you!!!
I will always love my lavender moon rose quartz pieces but does this mean that story about the one mine in Brazil being closed is all bs and it was never a natural color. And why does adding the cobalt still keep the prices at this level?
I don't know where that story started, maybe it was confused with another mineral? The base crystal is a very high grade, so the quality isn't any lower so its still priced per gram. They do have lower grade that is priced per kilo. Treatments can actually be pretty expensive since you are enhancing the stone in a way.
I got given some 'moon quartz' by someone who thought it was moonstone, but never got a chance to test it, so glad you concluded the mystery of where the colours were coming from!! its been bugging me for MONTHS haha
i only got to do some basic testing but it was giving a bullseye on the polariscope with a conoscope, which is what was making me think its macrocline quartz rather than something like chalcedony - so it being treated rose quartz makes soooo much sense now omg

@@ColdBrewBarbie thank you so much for all the great info
How much money do you usually spend at these shows? I need a ball park for when I go to Denver 😂
I would say on average $8 on crystals, 1-2k on hotels, $500 on flights, $150 on rental cars and about $500 on other expenses!
Thank you for bringing a piece of Tucson to our homes!
