Love these videos, binge-watching all of them right now. I'm going into community health dentistry with the same exact mindset you have described in your previous video and plan to buy a practice in the future. Thanks for discussing this and it's definitely inspirng me!
Steven Lu thanks so much!! My colleague at my public health job told me he was looking at his job there as a higher-salary GPR (a way to transition from school to private practice). Probably some truth to seeing it that way.
Beyond Dentistry lots of truth to that! If you’re not making a video about it already I’d love to learn about how you tailored your “solo”-learning during your FQHC, what mindset you had, what textbooks you favored, and CEs you preferred. Great content again, thanks!!
Can you do a video about the level of physical labor involved in dentistry? Is it like mowing a lawn?lol Can you do a video about tips for managing staff and running an office and how to be more personable with patients?
@gerhard goedhart very true, as any business owner, you can dictate how you want run operations. I have friends making 150k working 3 days a week. For years I did above 1 million a year. 2 million in collections 43 percent overhead. As a business owner do things you way your pace. Solo pediatric dentist 4 ops, staff of 8 60 pts a day on average.
Can you please post video on whether a Jew dental graduate should consider AEGD/GPR programs and FQHC route. How much can I expect to make as FQHC dentist?
I think a lot of it depends on your personality, and which AEGD/GPR program you are looking at specifically. If you are going to learn a lot of skills (endo, implants, even sedation at some residencies), it could definitely be worth it. I would guess you would start at about 120K at an FQHC, but I have heard both higher and lower depending on location and especially if you are willing to move.
That might be specific to your area. My broker was one that handles mostly Michigan. There area a couple that I think are nationwide. Whatever you do, I would try to avoid a broker that says they do "duel representation". Those arrangements are skewed in favor of the seller and broker. If you are buying a practice, you need your own attorney and accountant. In my case, the "broker" listed the practice and represented the seller. I had my own attorney and accountant. The broker did help me get financing, because they had some contacts in the industry.
Definitely referring back to this video when it’s time to graduate. Great content!
Awesome! Thank you!

Possible video idea: What are dental job interviews like? What makes one candidate better than another on paper?
This is such a great idea, I will definitely do this and combine it with networking in the same video!
