The Hitcher would probably top it with the Second Sight release. The whole thing just felt like a labor of love. Extensive extras, great transfer, excellent packaging, along with Atmos/Dolby Stereo options makes it the total package! Worth the wait!
The Searchers is literally the best 4k transfer of movie shot on film I have ever seen. I was stunned how much better it looked than almost any movie than came out in 2024.

Ordered Twister and it didn’t work. Got To Catch a Thief and North by Northwest. Looked great. The Searchers came in mail yesterday. Haven’t looked at it yet. I know people complained about the compression on Once Upon a Time in the West, but that’s still one of my favorites of the year
Will be doing my own top 10 2024 list soon. Still have a few more to watch. Love seeing everyone's opinions on their favorites, as we all have varying opinions.
1. Paper Moon 2. You Can't take it with you 3. The Terminator 4. Little Women 5. On the Waterfront 6. Mr. Deeds goes to town 7. Legends of the fall 8. Wind River 9. Steel Magnolias 10. The Departed
Just watched The Searchers in 4K UHD from Warner Archive. Unbelievable presentation, may be the best of the year, even better than North by Northwest. It’s that fantastic, a must see disc IMO.
White Christmas was stunning. Not sure if it was the Vista Vision print or what, but Paramount did a great job and we got the original mono track. Don't want fake surround on old movies.
Merry Happy, Adam! Thanks for being in my 2024 and all the content to while away my imagination. Enjoy the season with some hot coffee and cool Steelbooks, my friend. Fill your shelves and imagination, my partner in crime and payroll robberies! -Glen
Coming soon Constantine, Amadeus, Dressed to Kill, Deep Blue Sea, Dirty Harry 4k steelbook, Pale Rider 4k steelbook, Kill Bill 1 and 2 and Jackie Brown announced today for March 31 at £34.99 each available now , coming May 2025 Lethal Weapon plus strong Chance of One Flew over The Cockoos Nest coming next Autumn to 4k!!!
My bottom five: 1: Jaws 3-D (Why transfer this when the elements just don't work for 4K. Worst of the year for me.) 2: Wallace & Gromit 3: The Boogens 4: Once Upon a Time in the West 5: True Lies
Original Twister was amazing, the atmos and audio mix was a 10/10. The remake sadly was worse in every way outside of special effects. I was quite disappointed in the audio mix as I watched it right after the original sad😢.
Admittedly, True Lies looks awful but The Abyss and especially Aliens look absolutely phenomenal. My top 4k of the year is Aliens and it’s not even close. Idc that Cameron scrubbed away all the grain, it looks better than it ever has.
Twister 4K overrated IMO. Although most of it was great, there was a couple of scenes that were way too dark...to the point I couldn't see anything The audio had an issue as well. One scene the dialog levels fluctuated some.
@@blackphilipalvarez1305 I hear that a lot and it does make sense. But i is only on select titles. Not all are dark. Funny thing is there have been some that others have complained about (Friday the 13th) and I thought they were ok. Plus some say if I have an OLED it would be better. Sure. But I argue that an average consumer shouldn't have to have a high-end tv to enjoy the 4K format. Not a good selling point. Plus you shouldn't have to have it professionally calibrated. I have a couple of set-up discs I have used for years to set up tvs. Great starting point and then just tweak here and there to get what I want. I have a midlevel 65" TCL QLED. So, of the movies that have had scenes that were too dark have been digitally filmed movies. Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny (opening nighttime chase scene) and Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (nighttime scenes near end). So I was surprised with Twister. The 2 scenes in questions are when Bill, Jo and Melissa are in truck experiencing the waterspouts. Those shots inside looked awful! Where the bluray I could see everything clearly. Other scene was when the tornado hits the drive-in and they all hunker down in the mechanics bay. I could not make out anything at all. Again the bluray was better there. Again only those scenes. The rest of movie, the 4K looked incredible. I know HDR bumps up contrast and naturally makes things darker. But sometimes, it is too much. Again, it is not often for me, just select titles.

hmm. been a sub for years. just got this recommendation for the first time in several months.
I've yet to see White Christmas on 4K. Judging by what I've seen of it, the film does look stunning.
