Thanks, great video, clear and easy to follow. I'm about to have clip queens in 3x hives soon. It will be my first time clipping and marking. Fingers crossed. Better check i have all the kit in working order first.

Having looked at this video back, there is one part that I feel needed more explanation. This part is when you are looking for the queen and how to place the tube over her, the waiting part for her to move up the tube and then the last part of gently pushing the plunger up behind her. This needs more explanation and I have taken note of this. So I will record this new footage in the coming weeks as I begin to mark my Queens for the coming year. I will record it and post it here. Thank you James www.ilovemybees.ie

She is a beautiful Queen! What race of bees do you keep? She looks like a Caucasian or Carniolan. Here in America, our bees tend to be much lighter/blonder than your bees in Europe. I am transitioning my own apiary into darker bees. Thank you for posting!

Several things - The left wing is odd year, right wing is even year, just in case the paint comes off you know if it's this year, last year or a new queen. Second, you clip wings at the angle at the tip of the wing, just the tip, not half wing. Bees will see her as damaged and ball her up. If this hasn't happened yet, you are lucky.

I clipped two of my 2021 Qs this weekend. Exactly as you did. This was before watching your video. I placed the Q back on the face of the same frame on top of the hive. The bees seemed agressive towards the Q and some were climbing on top of her. I give them a gentle smoke and placed frame back in. Will not know to next week if Q are ok. Is it better to run in from the top.?

Thanks for posting this video, could I ask where you get the twist and turn tube from?
