Thank you so much. I've been crying all day because I just bought my 2011 murano 2 months ago and first the ac went out all of a sudden while I was using it, then this knocking noise started happening days after that and is getting worse. I thought I got punked and bought a lemon. I was so bummed and depressed because I love my car. Thank you for saving my car. Sheila Nunez from San Diego, Calif.
My AC went out a couple of weeks ago and this noise came right after. I'm so glad you posted this video! It really helped me confirm what my neighbor was trying to explain to me. THANK YOU AGAIN!
this happened to me yesterday after driving on the highway for about 30 or so minutes. The car drives fine, but the AC stopped working and this sound started occurring as well. Thank you, now I have an idea of what might be wrong
Thanks bro this really helped a lot. I bought a brand new tensioner and 2 idler pulleys and the alternator. Mine sounds exactly the same and ac don’t work
I have a 2012 Nissan Maxima with 112,000 miles on it I had a knock that used to come and go and my AC was not working many mechanics told me that it needs a new engine but after seeing this video I replaced the AC pump and the knock went away thank you so much for this information
Man im so glad you made this video! I thought it was rod nock too and I was not very happy but the ac did just go out and it makes the same exact noise! Thank you very much you just saved me a shitty night of sleep.👍

Omg! You are very good man my friend, this video is extremely helpful and to the point, what is the fix please also post that if I did not understand - fix bearing or replace compressor- for AC I was told that compressor needs replacement
If you can find the clutch you can replace clutch assembly without removing the ac compressor. You would not have to drain the refrigerant either. It’s most efficient and cost effective way. If clutch assembly is not available replace the whole compressor. You are very welcome brother
I just got this problem, same exact noise as the a/c went out yesterday. Would I still be able to drive the car without damaging it until I can get it fixed?
If it is water pump I believe it will make constant noise. In my case AC did not work and also when I looked at the AC clutch close enough I could see it move back and forth when it was making noise. Changing the A/C clutch fixed the issue 100%
@@aslanmammadov2230 Thank you!! Your video saved me, I just pulled the psgr wheel and the clutch is not engaging with AC on and I too could see the pulley move when the noise occurred!!

To know simply if it is AC for sure not the timing chain, Remove The belt and start the engine. If the noise is gone it’s ac 100%. Replacing just the clutch is easy. I didn’t make a video but if you email me I can make video for you jonzmld1@gmail.com
Sorry just saw the reply I had another mechanic look at it and it was the compressor he said so he changed it and the noise stopped he had said it was the clutch but he said its works out better to just change the compressor
My car was doing the same thing. And my air stopped working and a few days after my car stopped working. I was told my motor locked up but I can hear it trying to turn over.
Well in that case you should drain the oil and check for metal shavings. These two sound is very similar and if your car cranks slow and doesn’t won’t to start it’s possible that your bearings are about to lock up
Can you check out the noise im having with mine? its a 1996 model, the AC stopped working and the water pump started leaking right after... i took it to an autoshop to replace the waterpump and it took them an entire month and cost me a fortune, after the car came back 2 days later it was sounding like this, and i cant tell if it is because of the ac or if they fucked up something with the timing chain
Just came across your post, and ol boy do I love you!! This is exactly what my car started doing recently, right after AC went down mid summer. 🥵 Was told I had a bad compressor by reputable company. Was reputable until I found lugnuts loose after tire rotation.. 🤬 So a couple questions if you have the time to reply, would be appreciated! 1. You say used, you have a site for those? Or just go to local junkyard? 2. Do you know if all gens after 7th match up? Or will I have to find a 7th gen used to match up? 3. Do you have a video on the clutch change, or a link to one you could drop? Thanks again for the vid, and taking time to reply. Subscribed!!
Hi. If you need used compressor you can go to local junkyard or eBay. If you buy new clutch it probably won’t won’t match to original compressor. I bought used original clutch in order to avoid draining the Freon and dealing with the mess. It has only 1 10mm bolt on the center and ring under it. It’s very easy to figure out.
@@aslanmammadov2230 Thank you for the reply!! Check on all. Just to confirm, as long as we are in the same gen, I can go from any of those Nissans you listed? That have the same 3.5L V6?
Hello, my 2011 Nissan Maxima is making a similar noise but it is much louder and clear even at idle. Noise started to come after driving on a highway for 30 minutes, switching off the car and then turning it on. How much should I expect to pay if it's the AC compressor issue as stated by you?
