Debussy. Rêverie. Such a beautiful piece that captures the title, "a daydream", so well. There is something so soothing about the flowing melodic line, the way it repeats in almost a trance-like manner, that can't help but make you feel like you're in a dream. Did you know that Debussy later disliked this piece? It's fascinating how often this happens to works that become popular, can you think of another case where this happened? A certain Rachmaninoff piece comes to mind, and perhaps a Chopin too. I hope you enjoy this last week of waiting ♥
Debussy's music is something familiar and in the same time something that is really far away. Something that everyone has been reaching for. Something most beautiful we saw ,but we don't remember what exactly it is. And this music opens our minds, and shows us our deepest and most beautiful memories. I've remembered the red sunrise I saw when I was a kid while living in my grandma's house in Latvian village. The village was surrounded by forests and sometimes I was able to see most beautiful red sunrises all around the horizon with a white fog between the trees. That was most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life.....
The beauty of impressionism. Ironically, Debussy hated people calling his music impressionism, he wanted people to call it symbolism(correct me if im wrong). Impressionism focuses on giving people an idea, but doesn't describe the idea. Therefore, it sounds something familiar, because you have the idea, yet it also sounds far away, because it doesn't describe the idea.

One of the ultimate “you are listening to me play this and have absolutely no idea how incredibly hard this piece is” pieces. The polyrhythms are a constant mindfuck and getting the perfect timber on every note to get the right harmonies to sing and to get the melody to properly emerge is impossible. It’s so utterly beautiful though and that comes across to pretty much everyone
A piece that reminds me of a golden wheat near harvest, a field of golden reeds before sunset, a small house in the middle of a meadow, and a view sitting on a swing chair in the small yard attached to the house.

This piece portrays a beautiful scene, it truly reminds me of an island that is surrounded with water, grass, the blue sky and flowers. Debussy is a great composer, this is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Its a piece that makes my body softer, heart warmer and eyes tearful. I love this too much.
When I hear this piece all I think about is my precious Mother. We listened to this piece together when she was dizzy and tired and she fell asleep. She was tired because of the things I made, when I skipped school, she would be there for me, she would sleep in the couch because she was tired but she would still cook and work. This is the type of piece by Debussy that I absolutely adore, clean and simple. Blanc et Noir I think is for someone with a taste for really intense pieces.
Whenever I hear Rêverie, I think about white lilies near a pond. Pristine clear waters reflecting the wonders of nature around it. The lilies look simplistic yet seem to have a deeper meaning. I can imagine a young woman, brown locks of hair, a floral dress as white as the lilies and a sun hat. The cattails around the perimeter of the pond are disrupted by the young woman gliding her hand across. The wind whistles softly, calling her name as she looks up to the sky to see a dove flying oh so freely, with a will of its own. You are free Tall grasses, as crowded as they are begin to hustle and bustle in multiple directions. The young woman lowers herself to pick up one of the lilies, tying the flower to her hat. Her lover, only a few feet away prepares a small picnic near the pond and lies down next to each other, looking at the white puffy clouds in the sky. Time goes on, and the sky gradually turns a bright orange, messaging them it is time for them to go.
i am very late, but this is interesting, because there was also an impressionist artist who drew an entire series of artworks of water lilies, during debussy’s time: Claude Monet(even their names are similar!) (though debussy hates calling his works impressionistic and wanted it to be called symbolic instead.) i think it’s interesting how they knew each other. and they say that star wars is the most ambitious crossover. :)
oh man! love this version. not as mysterious, otherworldly sounding at a slower tempo, but the dreamy, simplicity of the beautiful melody is captured so perfectly. thank you

This is one of my all time favorite pieces by one of my favorite composers. I want to start learning to play the piano, but I'm turning 31 soon. I wonder if I'll ever be able to play like this.
You will be able to. I'm closing in on my 3rd year and I'm 80% through this piece. It has a lot of beauty to discover the better you get but it's approachable for early intermediate players. Good luck. It's a lot of fun.
2:55 reminds me of a Golden Age Disney cartoon score. I love this piece, though, as with all Debussy, whenever I leave it too long I have to re-learn how to play it! Debussy tends to be very efficient with notes, achieving subtle harmonies with quite sparse chords... but that means that a single finger-fumble can ruin everything!
This sounds damn good. Classical music has a thing which is not found in the music of the modern age which makes it unique. Stay Classical Rousseau. May you have a very bright future in your RUclips career. ☺☺☺
... She played the piano. Debussy's "Reverie". Why that piece? Why play a dreamy, introspective song while surrounded by stoic Japanese businessmen? Her golden fingers caressed the keys. I was mesmerized. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I listened. ...

I actually have to think of a person, who let's himself getting shot in his head, because he no longer can endure this world, after he lost his son.
Its going to be me in may👀
This makes me so emotional.
This piece brings back many painful nights, but also how far I've come. thank you :)
Piece*
This piece brings back many happy nights and experiences. I always chose not to live a low vibrational life
@@godjhaka7376 I’m glad :) I’ve just had alot of struggles in my life, and this piece was always that calming hand I needed.
Beutiful imagination pethabs What You seek?
i am very late, but this is interesting, because there was also an impressionist artist who drew an entire series of artworks of water lilies, during debussy’s time: Claude Monet(even their names are similar!)
(though debussy hates calling his works impressionistic and wanted it to be called symbolic instead.)
i think it’s interesting how they knew each other. and they say that star wars is the most ambitious crossover. :)
Okay, wow.....take another toke...we're going off the deep end here.
Ah I see, Rousseau raided area 51 to get the legendary ability to play Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2 perfectly
No, Rousseau lives in Area 51.

*These comment/replies got me DEAD lmao*
oh man! love this version. not as mysterious, otherworldly sounding at a slower tempo, but the dreamy, simplicity of the beautiful melody is captured so perfectly. thank you
Love the visuals - the scroll. I was mesmerized by it and the music.
I’m 42 and started practicing piano this week. Your videos have been my inspiration to try to learn piano, even at my age. No teacher, just some books. Should probably get a teacher, though, lol. I doubt I will get this good, but perhaps I could get 10% as good!
Hi Erika ..are you still playing? If so how is it going? I'm 40 and have always wanted to learn. Scared its hopeless at my age
@@wendywalser6859 nooo it's never too late to start learning any instrument!!
@@wendywalser6859 never too late, especially if your just playing recreationally
YESSSSS! I WAS WAITING FOR THIS! :DD
I honestly love Debussy's pieces! I don't listen to classical music much, but the pieces composed by Debussy is definitely amazing! Especially Rêverie!
Everyone is like he is soooo good at this and Im like "how does he put the lights?"
@@lanye2708 You're part right, part wrong. (or so i think)
What i think is happening, is that that MIDI chart thingy is done in synthesia (you can add particles and change the notes' appearance in there), and the lights on his keyboard are probably, as you said, LEDs with an Arduino controller
@@Vaylon. so.... exactly what he said?
@En_tropy look at his hands though. you can see the light on his hands, so unless he's an editing god...
Absolutely Beautiful!
Parts of this song gives off funeral march vibes
I actually just heard this song for the first time and I absolutely love it!!! Its now one of my favorites.
Loved the hazy effects!😍
Some of debussy’s work is just perfect for listening to while you chill out and fall asleep
I think this is the best version on youtube its so soft and serene and really captures the beauty of Debussy’s music here. Bravo!!!!!!!!
Claude Debussy = Perfection. Thank you Master Rousseau for such a beautiful interpretation are my favorites with Clair De Lune.
Whenever I hear this piece, I feel like I’m flying above the ocean
I'm not first
I'm not last
But when I see a new Rousseau video
I click fast
So true

This is a perfect piece for a video game OST
Dude cyberpunk mentioned this song in one of the things you can pick up to read I read it and then came to look to see if it was a real song lol it’s a good song
Beautiful.
Simply and beautifully played.
This is a masterpiece. I haven't heard such a beautiful rendition ever before.
whenever im stressed, this piece comes to my mind instantly :) thank u rosseau
Beautiful song and the playing to match it
Beautiful. Thank you. God bless you all have a great day or night. Thanks Rousseau.
When I heard this in westworld I fell in love with it you play it so beautiful
debussy never failed to deliver did he ✊😔
I wish i could hear this for the first time again
Claude Debussy é, e sempre será meu compositor preferido! rêverie, clair de lune, arabesque1 e 2 , la fille aux cheveux de lin, pagodes e todas as outras, são obras simplesmente perfeitas!!!
When you try to learn this and the polyrhythm hits you right away.
meeeeeee, haha you just have to break it down really slow and mechanically until it's natural. I started learning it a bit ago and thats what worked best for me.
the triplet/polyrhythm on the 21st measure is harder honestly, but its gets better with practice.
@@michaelevans6216 Whew- my left hand just went autopilot now so I only have to concentrate about the right hand haha. For me, I find measure 21 actually easier to do than measure 5. Probably because it does not have a tie on the left hand part.
@@Sophie-ui6hi That's good to hear! ha! it has not been the same for me. last week i finished memorizing the piece. the fifth measure i play pretty consistently well, the 21st measure still give me issues. i get psyched out i think. i was playing it fine for a while, but suddenly if gave me trouble yesterday in practice, so I guess its back to playing at glacial speed. My recital is the 13th, so I'll have plenty of time to iron out my issues, but I'm angry at myself.
@@michaelevans6216 Good luck on your recital! Very excited for you! Just enjoy it, I am sure you'll do amazing! Please tell me if you're going to upload it on youtube, if you don't mind. I hope one day I'll be skilled enough to have my own recital. Best wishes!
Okay why am I having goosebumps all throughout??
Something calming yet eerie about this piece.
Sometimes I feel like a melody doesn’t have anything to do with me, but it’s just something that comes, is accumulated from me playing on the piano, and then this little creature just appears.
the chord progression at 2:07 makes my brain happy
it's fantastic! Rousseau is the best pianist for me... good job Rousseau!😆😆😆😆
This is like the calm before the storm that is HR2...
Such a beautiful piece
Rosseau upload equals happiness...
Facts
This sounds damn good. Classical music has a thing which is not found in the music of the modern age which makes it unique. Stay Classical Rousseau. May you have a very bright future in your RUclips career.
☺☺☺
Debussy, for me, was the best artist of all.
... She played the piano. Debussy's "Reverie". Why that piece? Why play a dreamy, introspective song while surrounded by stoic Japanese businessmen? Her golden fingers caressed the keys. I was mesmerized. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I listened. ...
Her golden fingers crossed the keys. I was mesmerized. Years rolled down me checks as I listen.that’s when I knew I had to finished this book. I had to meet this enigmatic woman and find out who Hanako Arasaka really was.

Man I'd love to see you playing Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata (mov 1 and 3 especially )
Why is that sonata called forest rock sonata? 😂😂😂. I am confusion. It literally translates to that.
Waldstein would be amazing
Thank you for playing this, it's my favorite piece by Debussy. I requested it a while back. Thank you!
I searched through your uploads hoping you just so happened to perform this, I was pleasantly surprised to find that you did! Wonderful rendition
