Hi Friends,
In this video i am going to demonstrate how i was able to take backup of the Stock ROM of my Android Car Stereo.
Note: if your device is not bricked, Make a full backup before trying another firmware.
This information is very basic need for all those who would like to have backup of the stock ROM so that in case of any problem they can reflash the stock ROM or for someone who wants to venture in to the world of Custom ROMs or custom recovery. In case of any soft brick you can always be rest assured that you have back up of your own working Stock ROM.
Also many times we get update to our system and the ugprade may fail for many reasons. In case of such failures the unit may get bricked. Having a ROM backup protects you against such failures.
In this video i will show how i have taken a ROM Dump and how i have converted the ROM DUMP into usable files so that i can also flash only specific region like recovery if i want to flash custom recovery or just restore stock recovery in future etc.

(Memory dump is only needed if you need full recovery from a backup. Otherwise you may only need to do the next part.)
Download and install MTK drivers. (Link)
Load scatter file and preloader (Link) in spflashtool. Press Ctrl Alt V , then go to Window and select "write memory". In file path select "user", in begin address put 0x0, In Region select the partition named "EMMC_USER". Hit Write memory. After that plug in the usb cable (connected to usb1 port). If the device is not detected, you need to power it on. If still not detected then you might need to short the two test points (see picture) (without power this time) and then plug in the usb cable. Remove the short when write process starts. Check if the issue is fixed. If its not fixed, then do the same to write boot2 and boot1 partitions as well. You may need to download Boot_1 specific to your original firmware from the link above.
Make a Full Backup/Memory Dump:
Open SPFlashtool, Select Memory Test Tab, Select only RAM Test (uncheck the rest), push start, and connect the unit. Save the information appeared, in a text file for later. (Read above "Memory dump procedure" for the usb connection setup).
Now go to ReadBack Tab, Double click on empty space next to tick mark, Select a folder where you want to store the dump file, and Type a name for the dump file you are going to creat, (ie. Boot_1, Boot_2, USER). Click Save. In next window "Readback block start address", select the region you want to make backup of (ie. EMMC_BOOT_1, EMMC_BOOT_2, EMMC_USER).
Start address is 0x0000000000000000
Length copy and paste from the text file you created earlier.
typically for Boot_1 and 2 the length is 0x0000000000400000
and for USER (16GB models) the length is 0x00000003a8000000
and for USER (32GB models) the length is shown in the video already
Click OK.
Now click on Readback and then connect the unit via usb cable. and Read process will start.
Do the same to make backup of all three partions. USER will take long time because its the largest partition.

I have the same unit and I made the scatter file, during the ram test I got this error "s_dl_get_dram_setting_fail (5054)" Please help..

I reflashed the radio with the files sent by the supplier and it no longer gives image. I have an AC8257, were you able to solve your problem?
i went through some kind of firmware upgrade to my 1GB/16GB but got it bricked, i still can connect it to the laptop but it's not booting up,,,, any solution please ?
I hope you had taken backup of your original ROM before proceeding. You can just reload that ROM again. Else you will have to find another ROM which is compatible with your head unit.
I won't be able to tell which particular ROM unless I know details of your head unit.
How about Allwinner chipset? If this way can work?

@@amargaikwad I am afraid it is too much to ask (if you do try to make the sound clearer). Maybe it would be possible to add English subtitles ? Or English step by step procedure ?
Well personally I think reading subtitles and watching video is distracting... I would accept your suggestion and happily try to re do same video with English. Thanks for constructive suggestion.

The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation error aa raha hai ,kya kare ???
Try to disable driver signature verification in windows and then install from device manager

Go to engineering mode and change USB mode between host and device. Kisi ek main detect hoga nai to fir PCB pe shorting karna padega

You might have flashed a wrong rom. You might have to get it done on PCB level now using compatible rom

you can generate a dummy scatter file and then regenerate your own scatter file from the ROM already present in your head unit. I have demonstrated that complete procedure...
