Actually MTV was first launched in India under Star TV (Controlled From Hong Kong) from 1991 to 1994 ,,,,, Although for India there was English language and Ads were based on Indian Region ,,,, It had really much cool shows specially VJ Nonie Tao,Danny Mcgill,Angela Chow,David Wu,Michelle,Sophiya,Andrew etc etc just was enough to keep you hooked up to tv all day ..... then in 1994 when the contract between Star (Then it was already acquired by 20th century fox) and Paramount network Expired MTV was replaced by Channel V for south Asian & South East Asian countries in 1994 March and instant it became more popular ..... They hired most of the old vjs and many new ones ,,, Channel V had 2 different feeds one for Mandarin Region and one for India,UAE,Philippines and such countries ..... they both had almost same station ident apart from music and English language and some part cut ,,,, shows were also different as Chinese part had many chinese vjs (From Taiwan ofcourse) and Indian Part had wide variety (Even like Vj Trey from Europe) ..... It was like a youth phenomena ,,,,,Channel V in Middle East also had some special featured programme like Sony Wallah for Middle Eastern viewers .... then when beam separation was done and Hq of Star Started dividing its area India got their own control and started localising the feed ,,,, it was ok as they focused on local language programming and viewers liked it bt it started getting off track from how a music Entertainment channel should be ! .....However due to headquarters shifting to Singapore channel V was already separated as Asian & Mainland China feed (operated by local group) then due to huge change in Star India strategy around 2006/7 Channel V completely dropped to different and quality was gone ,,,, Thanks to Uday Shankar for completely Ruining the best youth channel Quality along with other best channels like Star World,Star Plus and so on !
These reality shows are misguiding youth by glorifying looks, attitude and aggression.. They should create stuff that creates character, values and career building..It sounds boring but showcasing it with entertainment is the challenge here...
