If the mother are still around, they might try to kil the kitten and try to mate the the mother, but she is gone so I think those scratch is only for hierarchy thing.

This hit me right in the feels. This was just like my cat. She’s my first cat. She’s a calico. Unfortunately I couldn’t take all her brothers and sisters, but I was able to save her. Her mother had been killed, the kittens have been on their own. Her name is Autumn. I had to pause and gather my emotions because for some reason this really got me. I absolutely love cats. I have a cat that's actually a rescue. She came from an abusive home where she actually lost her brother to animal cruelty. She's a spoiled brat now but I love her. And that ending is touching. Truly touching.
