Shito Ryu karate-do is one of the schools that impresses me. This Shito school contains yoko geri keage in Intro to this video, and yet none of other kata in the presentation has side snap kick. Instead it reverts to maegeri (from snap kick). I wonder, why?
@@BelloBudo007 Probably either a mistake or a difference in the substyle. More tournament focused schools tend to modify some kata to make them flashier. Traditonally, it's a turn with a mae geri
Having done both, both has it's benefits depending on how you interpret them. Shotokan is good for getting in and out and using linear movement. The longer stances allow for covering distance. I've interpreted Shito Ryu as good for in close fighting that set up grappling and takedowns. The stances are shorter, like the Neko ashi dachi/cat stance.

But is known as sport Karate. Shorin ryu is the mother of shotokan. Both can be effective. But in my experience shorin ryu is best for a street fight.

For me, it seems it was mawashi geri in the intro... not yoko... it is intersting they don't have yoko in kata...

personally its shotokan just because its basic, focused, strong, linear, etc
