Remember when $2.50 was cheep, now i can pay $2.15 (USD) for normal gas across the street. But even then natural gas vehicles, mostly Honda's, are popular in Salt Lake City Utah. We have a big focus on emissions and air quality and nothing makes the government love you more than owning a hybrid or NGV.
@@Andrew-zv4fm i juat got a used cng vehicle. Im noticing the aame thing. All videos are from 8years ago or so. Not looking good for more stations. Will keep researching
Blow up? Really? Municipal governments all over the U.S. have been using these CNG cars for years. Thousands of them. When have you ever heard of one blowing up and killing anyone? AT&T has a whole fleet of them.
Quite an informative video, presented well with well planned out content. An interesting topic to follow, many folks are not all that aware of it. Bit of a failure in those with a stake in this industry, just not getting the message over to the masses.
Military runs cars and trucks that have both a CNG tank and Gas tank. No trunk space (in cars) but you get great mileage. Downside, takes longer to refuel than gasoline.
Mahbub Ali question: if a cng runs out of gas in ur country how does it get refilled? Have to tow jt? Just wondering what other countries do in that case.
Gammareign heat value and efficiency of that are two different things. that is why an EV can travel over 100 miles on the equivalent energy of 1 gallon of gas. even the most efficient gas car could never get close
Yes I have actually a van like a ford 350 transit could be converted to cng and a hybrid electric making it a bi fuel hybrid a using compressed air system that is my design, mpg on cng could get to about 40 with these advancements but it is about 12k added cost the host way over priced the conversion to cng, that's the cheapest part really. But fuel costs around 2,000 a year if the vehicle ran on gasoline at 2.49 which is the current price in my state. Could run for about 100 dollars a year at .60 cents a gallon of cng in my state. That's for 10,000 miles. In a Cng, Ca, hybrid electric commercial van.
I think $1500 would be for generic aftermarket conversion. if you want an EPA certified conversion, I think it would cost at least 5K. I believe many vehicles don't even have an EPA certified conversion kit available.....so if you wanted to do a conversion, you would need to purchase a generic aftermarket kit.
Your cnet show is the best of all cnet shows
These are actually VERY popular in my country. Mostly in fleet cars. like taxis and such. Great show!

wish this was more options here on the east coast
It doesn't cost $5K-$10K. You can add CNG to your car for only $1500. You can do the work yourself and get parts from several sources on the Internet.
my dad used to drive a taxi van that ran on lpg and petrol when he ran out of gas, changeover between the two was seamless. pre cool.
argentina and south america has done this for a while too...
I’ve always wondered why don’t they use several smaller tanks instead of a couple big ones
over 3 years later and most manufacturers dropped cng for electric car development
And 3 years after your post it looks like CNG research has not improved much.
I was hoping for this.

Cooley just dropping some knowledge.

Actually, it does not take that much longer!
More than 90 percent cars are run on CNG in our country.... Bangladesh!

Yeah most cars ditched this now of in 2021
I just bought a cng car. It seems like there is no new stuff for this. Hopefully they dont drop it all together
Almost all cars in Pakistan are CNG
Gasoline has a heating value of 46.4 megajoules per kilogram and natural gas has a heating value of 55.5 megajoules per kilogram.

You could've mentioned LPG as well..
Anyone thought about gas_electro hybrid vehicles?

is natural gas the same as LPG?
NO!!!
bonjour a tous
China has done this for so many years.
It doesn't cost $10000 for a conversion. More like $1500.
Depends entirely on the vehicle, the level of the conversion, and where you have it done.

china has cars?
What happens in a Accident. Will those canisters explode like rockets? Launch like missiles? I dunno
The cng regulated-tanks have pressure-release devices which allow gas to Vent upon impact, before exploding!!!
if not, how did they get your diapers delivered?
I also. Liked it first
Hoverboards are better.
Second comment yay
Forget this! Just Focus on Hydrogen!
CNG cars are the past... seriously how does everyone have this except us and europe. is not high tech. the poor people in south america have them.
An even bigger fire hazard than gasoline and diesel.
Not a bigger fire hazard than gasoline. Natural gas is harder to ignite, but easier to extinguish than gasoline.
