I've only been aware of your work the past two years. But I really connect with it, such a breath of fresh air in a world where surfing has become so serious. Love your humour and you honestly get me so hyped to surf and live life without taking it too seriously. You know da rulez 💚.
@@gophukyurselvs3621 The surf population all over the world has more than doubled in the past 20 years, creating a more competitive nature out in the lineup when it used to be so chill. Premium surf spots are packed to capacity as everyone has knowledge of decent waves now. Professional surfing has become more of a sport body where now there are training athletes at peak fitness as now a lot more money is involved. Everyone used to chill and party on the world surf tour. I could go on forever about how surfing has become more serious.
Respect. At the end of the day your movie makes me want to visit the western panhandle and surf by myself in freezing cold winter waves. Alohas and God bless
I truly enjoy who you are, as a human as well a great influence on humility and happy ,joyest and free ,Dennis Devalle, you and cousin Ryan make me laugh from the soul on a bad day I just watch you on RUclips and it's takes me straight out of my own head , as well as your trials in life , your the #1 surfer in the world in my book stay blessed
Great story. Eventually it all comes back to enjoying the ocean. Your podcast helped me realize surfing, bodyboarding, body surfing, paddle board surfing...the oceam was missing from my life after growing up learning to love it respect it. So I make regular trips to Cocoa Beach to re-create your famous victory. Give me merch to buy and I'll do it to support you and your cousin.
So cool to hear a story from someone who had it all living the dream as a pro surfer to find the pure escaping feeling of surfing again in his life for me and I feel like a lot of other people surfing is the thing we turned too but for someone who was able to live off of surfing to then truly find the love in it once again is a cool story 🤙
Awesome share. I was a rep for a surfboard company in Florida many years ago and your dad reached out to us asking to make inner light surfboards. I always thought that was super cool. My buddy at the time decided something else. But whatever. You guys are legends!
Man, I remember binging your videos on Vimeo back in the day. They were wildly entertaining and I had no idea how far ahead of the time you were with these. Keep on keeping on, Sterling!
Awesome video. You surf so amazing and are such a genuine, cool guy. Kudos. Funny how it takes us often years, decades to work out it’s the simple things that make us most happy….
Great video brother thanks for opening up, it means a lot...I went through similar things when my dad passed away and i ended up pretty down and out...i also pressed reset and am in the middle of that phase in life now...anyway just wanted to let you know how much your work is appreciated ❤
pretty amazing how much better his content is, still holds up compared to what is out today. the bit with him and occy starting at each other, or him popping out the back of the wave frozen... such good stuff. makes the current RUclips guys seem kinda lame when it comes to creative content (ignoring massive jaws footage and the like).
I remember the Pinch My Salt TV days. Super inspired to see a weird funny side of surfing that was nowhere to be found except with you. Made me think Centaurs might snake me in the lineup
This brought back so many good memories. I loved following you back in the day with the blog, social media and videos as you blended this creative wes anderson like film/storytelling style, while also showcasing some awesome surfing and nods to the Surfers/Shapers who influenced surfing up to that point in time. Thank you for creating, surfing and sharing it with the rest of us Sterling!
My uncle, Walter Cerny, turned me onto your blog back in HS. My surfer buddies and I quoted your voice over videos regularly. So cool to see you transition to podcasting - haven’t missed a beat!
Really rad short! Sterling is hilarious and really genuine. My question if I could follow up is does he like to make creative content anymore (i.e. films)? Like surfing, it seems like it was a genuine passion and I wonder if there is still a desire to pursue those creative outlets, even if they never get published or shared with the rest of us.
Please keep doing more of these "surfer journals". As an initiate it's super cool to see that pros went through the same process and learning journey. Plus your films are incredible ❤
I relate to surf culture 100%.. Raised on the north shore. Crashing pro surfer house parties in highschool were awesome adventures..eating acid, hanging out on the wall at ehukai with friends into the night, dodging cops..skateboards, surfboards..bball at sunset elementary School. The night sublime came to rocky point house party..holy shit. Turtle bay lift shop for liquor haha. Sterling Spencer getting my nostalgia triggered haha..love it.
great surfing sterling. as far as comedic absurdo provocation and art, it's illusion and fog at best. quality over quantity? creativity is common as grass or easy like water. I too wish I was easily entertained at times.
I miss him I know you do too man , this here is about you though you are doing great man awesome bro. I left when you were still young dude so good job and great positive attitude. I hope everything goes great for you Cuz,it Will! Damon Eugene Williams
Life's a beach. Every day is a new wave , sometimes you wait for the next one, sometimes you dive right into to the gnarliest barrel of the day, what's important is to keep paddling out , keep pinching my salt brother, Florida is the new Sion.🤙🏼🇨🇷
Rock and ROLL,I surfed with all y'all up til, yeah your dad was cool as cucumber man and he always waved and or acknowledged everyone when he was heading out and I'll be sitting out in the lineup look over and he'll be smiling and waving cruising out, and I mean hauling a.. you know what.. ,to catch another great wave!
I will learned over the years this that wealth is not the state of your bank account It’s a state of mind And you just reaffirmed that I’m not a rich man but I did acquire a 2005 centurion Enzo, and that 51 years old took up the sport of wake surfing. And riding the wave is one hell of an experience 🏄♂️
Just when surfing wants to be taken all serious...along comes Sterling to just burst their bubbles...i can only imagine how many industry heads and pros get their wetsuits in a bunch over alot of his content... it's like WSL 's ego is a big giant proud balloon and Sterling walks by with a big pin and without hesitation just pops the thing in front of the entire surf world and non chalantly keeps going 😂
Hey godfather, the only thing I’m missing… Probably because I’m watching all the RUclips and out of water… How you actually got hit in the head… Just saying… Love you man… I heard I might get a blue check mark… How exciting is that?
Not like my opinion really matters but it’s nice to see how you ended up in a good place after all that commotion. 🥲 Stay classy and for the love of God don’t mix with those crazy soft boarders. 😁
Really cool to see this side, Sterling. Thanks for sharing. You’re a legend. Your dad would be proud

the world is of those who dance without music ... Sterling you are a beautiful half human half horse being
Loved this. Always the goat in my book - we used to watch it back in high school and it hit right every time :)

Dude I have been watching you channel for over a year now and I never made the connection to Yancy, and I live in Florida. That is awesome Spencer.

Awesome video. You surf so amazing and are such a genuine, cool guy. Kudos.

Hey Hansel, thanks for the trail of breadcrumbs leading to the 12th dimension. I hope Laird keeps rewarding you with creamer from his personal stash
His latest film is fucking incredible…seriously one of my all time favorites
"Join the Dance" and Craig Andersons "Welcome Elsewhere" are the only two surf films I've shed a tear watching.

Where do we send money to make sure Kalani Robb gets the help he needs? No one is regulating these soft tops... It's out of control out at sea.
