Yes the Amberjack do prefer deeper water. We normally don't start seeing them until about 100'. If you would swim in it a few times you would get used to it. Its a very beautiful world under there. You will also realize that the life down there is more afraid of you that you are of it.

Nice. I especially like the way you did the bronco bustin' on the AJ. LOL.

Thanks for the question. A bunch of people ask that. First of all Barracuda taste better than just about anything out there. Its a very clean white meat with no fishy taste. They are not bony at all. They actually produce a lot of meat for their size. Also any large predator fish will have mercury in it. Amberjack, Tuna, Ling, ect. Just do some research and taste some. A lot of people tell me that they don't eat them because they are a stinky fish. I eat steak even though cows stink.

No matter what, freedivers are going to give "bubblers" grief. It's a personal choice..... My only issue with freedivers is their mouths. And to those I've seen on youtube threatening to shoot scuba divers with spearguns....you can try, but it's not smart as they have the air and can give you a great big (or should I say lengthy) "hug". ;)

Camera is a Liquid Image HD Wide Angle Camera Mask 720p. I have since upgraded to the 1080p model. I love it. I'll upload some video with the new camera soon.

The blue water footage is about 50-60 miles. The green water is about 35 miles

i dont scuba but i freedive and spear and i dont see the problem with it. if you're gonna eat the fish and not just kill em for fun then theres no reason you should make bringing home dinner any harder than it has to be. i think freediving would give me more of a thrill than scuba thats why i do it, spearing something with very little assistance gives satisfaction. if they prefer to scuba then why not? you want to give fish a chance, dont wear fins or a mask next time you go spear fishing.

I Don't know, I think it's the fact that you can't really avoid situations under water. Like you're in there world and there's not much you can do they control it. We saw a 12 ft Tiger shark about 30 miles out past Horn Island on the mississippi gulf coast, but yeah i bought a spear gun and wet suit and snorkel I'll be damned if i don't get in. But cheers mate and good fishing also thanks for the info, I'll upload some videos when we go out!

Hmmm alright I'll keep that in mind, I figured they'd be like king mackeral (meat not that great and mushy). Me and my dad are gonna start going out to the rigs at the end of April for the cobia and Grouper. Do the Amberjack prefer deeper water, or can you catch em in 70 to 100 ft deep water? You have balls for swimming in that water lol if i ever fell in I think i'd have a heart attack it's creepy if ya know what i mean.

spearfishing with tanks is just another way of fishing. if you want challenge, then shoot great whites that bites back. using mask, fins, speargun or tanks are all unfair for the fish. as long as you dont wast what you catch is fine with me. or we can shoot each other underwater i will use tank and you freedive and lets see who wins.

Naw dude, Savah is right. Spearing with tanks is stupid. The fish don't see you as a threat, and you just point and shoot. No sport.

When exactly do the english classes start? Please do consider taking part. Scuba + spreafishing = lazy asses who cant even hold their breath for 30 seconds.
I will say it again. Give fishes a damn chance to escape thus you wasting energy. That is the thrill of the hunt in my opinion.
