Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference: 0:00 - Introduction 1. 0:36 {Should we “Apply” the Blood of Jesus?} Someone recently told me to always "apply the blood of Jesus" over my family, my home, myself, and everything that belongs to me before I pray, since there is spiritual warfare going on. Have you heard of this, and what are your thoughts? 2. 5:44 {About the Curse in 2 Kings} How should we explain 2 Kings 2: 23-25? I had somebody bring it up to me and was unsure of how to answer them. On the surface, it seems problematic. What can I say to them? 3. 11:10 {A Godly Attitude for Workplace Struggles} My parents think Christians shouldn’t unionize or strike, and should just do what they’re told or go elsewhere, citing the Parable of the Vineyard. But that sounds crazy to me. What should a Christian attitude be to workplace struggles? 4. 15:46 {About “Leaven,” Destruction, & Revelation} Any thoughts on using Matthew 13: 33 to prove that people inside the faithful church will try to destroy it (saying that yeast is bad and the woman Jesus referred to is the same as in Revelation)? 5. 18:52 {About Being Alive in Christ/Future Resurrection} Please explain John 11: 25-26, how the first person became dead but believed and the second person being a believer never dies. 6. 23:05 {Thoughts about Steven Crowder} What is your opinion on Christian RUclipsr Steven Crowder? A lot of his content (while in the name of comedy and free speech) is quite vulgar and feels insensitive. Is his method biblical? 7. {Accidentally skipped - sorry about that!} 8. 24:42 {Why did People Fall Over in John 18?} My question is about John 18:6. It’s a really powerful moment, but did the other disciples not see it? 9. 30:36 {Repentance of the Heart & Mind} I am a former crossdresser (not transgender), but I don't feel any guilt or remorse for when I used to cross-dress. Any advice on how to not just repent with my actions, but also repent with my mind/heart? 10. 35:08 {Is Marriage Different Now?} My friend says the definition of marriage evolved over time, and that now it’s a legal contract, but in biblical times she claims it was a social transfer of care. Thus, she believes living with her boyfriend unmarried is biblical. Thoughts? 11. 39:29 {About Sin and our Flesh} Does Romans 7: 24 suggest that sin is in our flesh? Is this the reason why some people may be predisposed to certain sinful behaviors? 12. 43:29 {Is Jesus Finite or Infinite?} Jesus said, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end" (Revelation 22: 13 ESV). Does this mean God the Son is finite? Is He saying Jesus, fully man, is finite? 13. 46:19 {Why does God Allow More Wicked Generations?} Why does God allow wicked people to persist and bring forth more generations that will mostly go to Hell, instead of bringing judgment on them and erasing their culture as soon as they go astray? 14. 51:00 {Help with Doubts & Unbelief} How do you stop doubting that God exists or that Christianity is the true religion out of many, especially Islam? Sometimes my faith wanders from belief to unbelief. Any tips? 15. 54:44 {Why was Jesus Given Sedatives?} Why would the Roman soldiers try to give Jesus the wine and myrrh (which I understand to be a sedative)? Wouldn’t they want the crucifixion to be as painful as possible? 16. 55:32 {Are Prayers from Books Spells?} Could prayers from prayer books be considered spells? 17. 57:04 {Should a Protestant Marry a Catholic?} What do I do if I'm thinking about marrying a Catholic girl, myself being Protestant? She has no problems with my faith but wants our sons baptized, since she and her whole family is Catholic. 18. 59:43 {About Theophanies & Christophanies} Would you say that every theophany is a Christophany? (John 1: 17-18, Jude 1:5, John 8: 58, Matthew 11: 27, 1 Timothy 2:5) 19. 1:01:36 {How to Increase Our Affection for God} 1 Corinthians 16: 22 implies we can't be saved if we don't love God, as I don't know how you can be saved and cursed at the same time. What advice would you give to someone who lacks affection for God? 20. 1:06:02 {Was it Right for Rahab to Lie?} Hebrews 11: 31 says that Rahab's faith saved her. Yet Joshua 2:4-6 shows Rahab lying about the Israelite spies. Romans 3:7-8 condemns good from evil. How do we reconcile this, Pastor Mike?
Hey Mike! Grew up in a Catholic household that went generations back. My husband was Protestant. Our first two daughters were baptized and I insisted we get married in the Catholic church I grew up in. God is big and delivered me! It did not get worse for us and I hope our story can bring another perspective to the gentleman asking about marrying a Catholic. Prayers!
Hi my lovely @Sarah Zimmermann hope this finds you well. Up 4am watching Mike. To say, he did soo well with bad head to do this hour. I feel his pain, literally. When I've cluster attacks or migraine I can't form a sentence, let alone do bible study, recall and not fall to bits. I hope Mike did go bed, sometimes sleep is all you can do, I'd pain permits sleep. Hope you well. I owe you email 🤪 xx
1:06 there are other situations where because of someone's sin, another person is forced to sin. I know a child with divorced parents and parent A told the child they were very upset when the child saw the other parent, and became moody when they did. They also encouraged their child to be honest. So the child wanted to see Parent B and did so without telling Parent A. When Parent A found out, they accused child of deception. Parent A effectively forced child to be deceptive. So the sin was not the deception, but the manipulation. I think. Like with Rahab and Corrie ten Boom
Mike submits to God and cats. Or maybe the cat read the parable about the woman and the judge that gives her what she wants because she pesters him so much but not because he really wants to.
Jordan Peterson had some advice for people living together where the girl wants to get married but the guy thinks it’s “just a piece of paper.” Jordan said if it’s just a piece of paper then why not just get married to make her happy? It’s because you know it’s not just a piece of paper. It is you promising before earthly and heavenly authorities that you won’t abandon her when times get tough. By living with her you are saying you like her for now but want to keep your options open. People know that is true but they just don’t want to acknowledge it.
@@vicktoria4864 Just a piece of paper, lol yeah like its that simple. The average cost of a wedding in the us is like $30,000-40,000. but yeah just a piece of paper
Pastor Mike: “My brain juices are low…” Proceeds to answer every question with depth of wisdom and Biblical knowledge we all aspire to achieve… You and your ministry are such a blessing to us all, Pastor Mike. Even on your worst day, God uses you to help us think Biblically about everything. Thank you, and may God bless you continually.
I'm guilty of saying "I plead the blood over my loved ones" in most of my prayers without truly understanding what it means. Thank you for clarifying it and backing up what it truly means with scripture.
@butter pecan I had a Pentecostal friend decades ago, who was always "Bleeding the blood"! (I never knew what she meant, but she finally confessed that she didn't, either.) I still giggle when I think of her. I loved her dearly but, honestly, that's all I remember about her. MARANATHA
Moxie: "Give me my chair!" Mike: "You can't!" Moxie: "Give me my chair!" Mike: "Next week!" Moxie: "Give me my chair!" Mike: "You've got it!" And proceeds to destroy the whole office in the process!🤭😂🤣 Moxie: Goes to sleep happy and smug! Thank you Mike! You are so real and down to earth! Your channel has helped me so much!
I believe the “plead the blood of Jesus” thing is very very common in charismatic and Pentecostal denominations. I was raised in that so I heard it all the time.
I was raised in a Pentecostal, charismatic church…was taught this was the way to pray. …”have you covered it in the blood”? I’m asked in response to my unanswered prayer. Thank you Mike! This makes SENSE!!
Kenneth Fraire I believe what you're referring to is the hyper-charismatic/Pentecostal movements and not all charismatics, by any stretch, in general. There's a significant distinction that bears noting.
I believe prayer isn't studied enough but this scripture may change the way some people view prayer as it changed my prayer life. Psalm 103:20 "Bless the LORD, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word". Word is referring to God's word (scriptures) when God hears his word (scriptures) repeated back to him when you pray (talk) to God, he sends his angels out to do their work. Before I pray I always give thanks as it is written in this scripture. Psalm 100: 4 "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name". Your prayer life is between you and God. When we pray we must go through the Jesus. John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me". I disagree with Mike about the use of words. God gave Adam his voice and he named all the animals. Words are powerful and we were made in God's image. The FIRST thing God did was SPEAK in Genesis 1:3 "Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light". 26.Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have "dominion" over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [g]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth". God owns the earth but we have dominion/rulership over it and after the fall of man (sin) tending/ruling the earth became difficult as earth was supposed to run like heaven. It written in Matthew 6:10 "your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven". If we are made in the image of God and Christ, the anointing dwells within us, we are part spirt being. There is power in words. This is why I am careful about what I say and how I pray.
@Cheryl_44 You seem dog-matic about it. I recently heard a pastor respond when questioned about our pets going to heaven - "Dogs ~ well, maybe. Cats ~ uh, not so much!"
I can’t believe your cat actually demanded to sit on that chair 🤣🤣 That was my favourite part of the video. I learn so much from you Mike, thank you so much for your ministry, it has truly helped me to think biblically about everything!! Will be praying for your sleep to get better!
We have a rare male calico and 2 females. The male wakes my husband up every morning at 3:00am to feed the ladies. He's not ready to eat, he just knows it's his job to get my husband to feed the girls. He begins by jumping on the bed and pawing him. He then moves to the bedside table and pushing things off until he gets up. Today, one of the girls pushed her mousie toy under a door into a closet. Capt. Fishipants sauntered over and began meowing and pawing the door until I got up and opened it. He then walked away and let her get her mousie toy. They have such wonderful personalities.
So thankful someone finally set the record straight about people pleading the blood of Jesus over everything. To me this has always been an obvious ploy to pull down Christianity to the level of voodoo and discredit it.
I agree. I have an on-the-road ministry and have visited maybe a hundred of churches, and that's a phrase that has been said way too often and makes me cringe every time. It gets awkward having to explain that "pleading the blood" is not some magical catchphrase that the scriptures ask us to say.
I had not thought of this before you said it, but sacrifice in general is voodoo-like. Jesus said that sacrifice does not purify us. He said our forgiveness does. When you repent, you are forgiving yourself. The word "metanoia." is used in the New Testament. Matt 12.7 If you had known what these words mean, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice,” you would not have condemned the innocent
I remember as a newer believer going to a Church that had a most amazing, holy feeling. I found out that the pastor prayed the blood of Jesus over his church every day.
I love the analogy of the 4 year old answering hard questions about things his parents does. How much more are we ignorant when it comes to being able to explain why God does things a certain way.
This is how we know Mike is good people. Talks to cats like people. Gives the kitty back her chair that he took. We'll overlook the original taking of the cats chair because he has a conversation with her and gives the chair back.
Glad I was able to hear about the “blood of of Jesus” question. I was raised Catholic and when I left the church at 20 years old, I church hopped trying to find what direction I was supposed to head in. A common theme was this “I claim it in the blood of Jesus” and other resembling statements. I was so confused as to why I never felt right saying it. It always seemed overly charismatic and wrong. I’m happy that I never took to doing it over time.
I'm glad I never used this phrase though I heard this in many non-denomination circles. It felt weird very name it and claim it. Very charismatic. I never saw any prayer in the bible saying I plead the blood.
The last question, "was it right for Rahab to lie?" I thought was answered very well and made sense to me. It reminded me of the midwives in Exodus who did not kill the Israelite babies and instead told the Egyptians that the mothers were quick in childbirth. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.
Oh so pleased for your teaching regarding the blood of Jesus. Always made me uneasy. On a par with people who bind Satan! Thank you Mike. Feel relieved
Exodus 12 5-7 It IS Biblical! 5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. 7 Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs.
I'm a huge fan Mike, also a patron, and a fan of all your cats. Today's episode was awesome when you took a moment to give Moxie her chair. I had to pause to control my laughter. I had a cat that was just like that and I miss her. Thanks Mike... for ALL you do!! ❤
Thank you Pastor Mike for addressing the way most Christian use the blood of Jesus incorrectly is like it is a magical word to protect you like a weapon. I recently I have been feeling uneasy using that phrase because I know something is wrong when I read my Bible I don’t see people in the Bible use it that way. Thank you for providing biblical clarity concerning this phrase. God bless you and your ministry
Pastor Mike, I appreciate that you don't pull punches. Thank you for 14 and the strong answers. Before I opened the Gospels my objection to God was just misguided anger or fear. I remember how I cried out for Him and reading Matthew alone healed so much of my pain. I feel like all paths lead back to Jesus, but the path is said to be narrow for a reason. One of my intellectual doubts I can firmly point out is making sure my experiences are with a holy force and not the deception of a demonic one, that I may not spread deception to anyone. Bless you.
I know this video is old but I just came across it and I had to chuckle during the Catholic/Protestant question because my father is a Catholic and my mother a Protestant and so far it has worked out just fine. I'm Catholic but I went to Protestant church quite often during my childhood. I personally am glad I was born into two denominations, so to speak.
Mike, my cat runs my house, too!! My cat is a longhair, as well. The fight against the shed fur is *Neverending* ...Also, thank you for addressing the "applying the blood of Jesus." I was taught to pray that way, but have had questions about it. I find your explanation very enlightening and I appreciate it so very much!!!!
I grew up with my family saying things like “la sangre de cristo” and praying the blood of Jesus. And the way I saw it is it’s not a literal applying the blood but just praying for Gods protection over us, and remembering the sacrifice that Jesus did. And remembering that He is all sufficient and He has power over all forces of evil. I saw it more as a spiritual covering. My mom would pray over me and say that and pray Gods protection over me. I didn’t think it “saved” me it was just more like a spiritual protection prayer. I agree it’s simply a tradition and maybe not biblical, but it’s like that song “nothing but the blood of Jesus”, it was a reminder that his blood makes us white as snow, it washes away our sin, it makes us whole again.
Crowder has about the BEST content for pro-life conversations with people. But instead of debating he labels these discussions as Change My Mind (topic he wants to discuss) Seriously the best "debates" on pro-life I've seen I love how bold he is. I really enjoy his change my mind shows though 🤷🏼♀️
Y'know I just realized for question 20, Jesus said that saving a life on Sabbath is holier and better than to keep the Sabbath so lying to save someone's life is a good thing, also remember that Rehab was given a promise if she protected the spies so the faith is that she believed in that promise and the work was saving their life from the guard
YourANDteaching I'm inspired to go back to church after 4 churches in 5 years plus a five year hiatus. I'm going back to the first one we went to, Calvary Chapel, tomorrow!
I love your cat. Cats are always the boss, that's just the way it is. I love that you moved, I would have as well. Lol. I like your Friday questions. I think for the most part you are spot on. Thanks.
Thank you for this answer to the question (re: the blood of Jesus) because I have done that many times and just realised it was almost sounds like using a lucky charm. I will never do that again, I have been a Christian for many years and it made me realise how easy it is to be in error. I appreciate you doing this and answering peoples serious questions and not hesitating. God bless you Pastor Mike, from England.
First question, you hit it spot on, Pastor Mike!! “Applying the blood of Jesus” to things, saying those words, sounds very magical. Pagans and witches and Catholics repeat words and phrases in a certain order to invoke or cast spells. If you feel you “have to do or say something” before praying, you’re heading into the unBiblical and creepy realm.
Thanks for the video Mike! Always impressed with how the Lord guides you to give us the wisdom we need at the right time. Don't be so hard on yourself for being tired! No one notices but you. May the Lord provide you a good sleep and a yummy snack like he did for Elijah :)
Great answer to number 3. I’m a committed Christian as well as a union delegate wheee I work. I feel it’s Godly to support my colleagues in not being trampled on in a Godly way
When people say, "I apply the blood of Jesus over you..." are saying it as some sort of protection. In the old Testament they applied the blood of the lamb over the door posts to protect them from the death angel. I'm thinking this is where that logic comes from. I grew up in a charismatic" church "and people said this to me all the time growing up. And I look at this now and realize that there is NOTHING in the new Testament that speaks of applying anything over your life.
Thanks for answering this question about Jesus’ blood. I knew a group in our church (they left) who would plead the blood over this and that, a similar idea. They were also into word of faith. It does smack of superstition to me. And I bet if you said to some people who draw comfort from this, no you mustn’t, that they’d twitch a bit! And yet, when I stand before the Father I will plead the blood of Jesus to cover my sins, but surely that’s the only time it’s relevant and appropriate. Jesus’ blood is my plea. Doing this makes people feel safe. Because perhaps they’re forgetting that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. We don’t need such practices and they cause us to forget who’s won the war, even though the battles and skirmishes continue. For now.
You cannot give anyone else salvation but our family is sanctified through us. I plead the blood of Jesus over my family and may it be passed down through every generation!! I trust is Christ, his sacrifice and his life, and I trust that He will bless the generations to come through me!
Mike, love your Bible teaching, I have learned so much from your ministry. Also, love your cute kitty! Our cats run our household too and demand our chairs! Always a joy to see Moxie! All GOD’s creatures.💕
Mike, your Insight and wisdom and the way you explained things really touches my heart and it helps me to understand things quite well. I believe that many of us are truly blessed by your assistance, help and guidance in these things. I pray for you and the things you do in Christs' name AMEN
Thank you for this. I have prayed, " I plead the blood of Jesus over this or that", but not every time before I pray. Only at certain times for certain things. I will refrain from that now. Thank you
I suppose I could have worded the question more like “Is there a line that Christians shouldn't cross when it comes to comedy? For example, crude jokes or mocking. (Ephesians 5:4?)” I haven't seen any Christian RUclipsrs respond to Crowder's content specifically, even though he is probably one of the biggest Christian-hosted channels out there. But I totally respect Mike for not wanting to be too quick to judge before watching more of his videos. :) Not all of Steven Crowder's content has the same abrasive tone (a lot of his Change My Minds are very respectful for example), but his comedy has a “just about everything goes” approach to it. While this is useful for building a like-minded audience, I'm worried that it might not be the best way to communicate the love of Christ to the world.
I would like to see teaching on what kind of humor is appropriate. Our american culture is filled with humor and not all of it healthy. Is sarcasm ever ok? What is appropriate teasing? Can one make fun of groups of people? Generalizations can be both true and funny. Add to this the idea of offense. There’s a whole lot to discuss about taking offense. Does it always say more about the word lobber than the recipient? No, I’d argue, not always…. Just 2 of the things I wonder about.
I question this as well. Crowder is an excellent debater, and has conservative views, but I've always been a prude when it comes to crude comedy. With that said I tend to shy away from his show...accept I do appreciate his "change my mind" series.
I have seen a few of Crowder's videos, and in each one I saw, he used profanity, not just vulgarity. This is, biblically speaking, not appropriate for any Christian to be using, especially in the media! Philippians 4:8 comes to mind. 🤔
What you spoke about question 17 (marrying a Catholic) is very true. If you are not committed to your faith then it is no problem. If you are committed then it will be a problem with her family, with her and your children.
Sean McDowell talked about this verse in his "10 most commonly misused verses" series. Point is that people who LIVE like there is no God are fools. It's not a statement about holding atheistic beliefs. It can apply to believers or unbelievers who just want to get away with something and try to fool themselves into the idea that it won't bring on any consequences/judgment.
I was raised Assemblies of God, & was taught to pray in Jesus’ name. I did hear “plead the blood” from Pentecostals outside our denomination, but our church simply prayed in the name of Jesus.
I was struggling with question 19 for the past couple days going down a rabbit hole about if my love for the Lord is "enough", and how do I make sure it's "enough", and I keep putting it into quotations because now I realize how ridiculous I was being. Thank you Pastor Mike so much for giving me that perspective, I'd been viewing love as "feels" this whole time and thought there was something wrong with me or that I was doing something wrong. I feel so uplifted and comforted now, thank you so much
I was taught to “plead” the blood of Jesus. Its never set well with me though because I thought that the blood covered it all at the cross. It became such a habit to say, though, that it has taken a real concerted effort to stop.
My friend sent me your link. I don't usually listen to new pastors these days because too many have lost their way...but I was immediately taken with your answers. You sure have a good grasp on the scripture and they align with the way I believe. So, I've subbed. Thank you.
Mike you’re spot on about the “pleading the blood of Jesus” concerning leaven, Jesus was simply teaching about the influence of the kingdom of heaven. It’s compared to leaven because of the way leaven permeates the dough. At the time of Jesus, the kingdom seemed small and insignificant but as we know it today, it’s has influenced the world more than ever before. Great job
I'm guilty of pleading the blood of Jesus over my life. But to be honest one night I was praying and I got the feeling not to say it but I wasn't sure where it was coming from. I thought it was the enemy. I have so much to unlearn.
@@annieb7919 yes, inalso recommend everyone to read the bible even if they read it already, but I was refering more to non biblical Christian texts or just any text in general which can help us better understand scriptures amd other religions so we can formulate logical and consistent arguments when debating or evangelizing. That is why there is a teaching role in Scripture for teachers and in this case the teachers would educate use through their writings. Again, i believe the bible should take up most priority in every Christians life and reading schedule, but other texts are good to read to not only for expansion of knowledge, but so we can use it im evangelism.
My understanding of the “blood issue” was asking for the cleansing, repenting, and moving forward in the power of God, not something such as commanding someone have salvation.
Brother Mike, as you were answering the questions from 2 Kings, it hit me that even though we don't " pray the blood" as you explained, this example in 2 Kings is , as you said, " They're under the Covenant" . What verse came to me was Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. This speaks to the " power" of "Jesus blood" under grace compared to the old covenant under the law and temporary sacrifices. God doesn't strike down mocking unbelievers because of the power of the cross and grace until Judgment Day when mockers will face consequences.
Hi Mike, My name is Claudia, I was Blessed to se you for the first time in a video from Allan Parr, and your knowledge and soothing voice captivated me and I can hear you for hours,,, my husband and I run a lifegroup from our home every Friday (we are in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada), we are doing 2 Corinthians, are you doing any study on 2 Corinthians ,,,, yesterday I recommend you to the rest of my lifegroup, you are extremely knowledgeable, and I truly like that you don't shy away from the hard questions, and you answer those questions with Biblical truth but with much respect and kindness,,,, thanks again for doing the videos,, your cat does rule your house lol,, God Bless you.
Wow thanks, I was wondering about applying the blood of Jesus in prayer just yesterday. I was taught to do this practice and yesterday I was like: "Is this even biblical?"
Me too a few weeks ago our pastor said to do this… it seemed ‘off’ to me. Unfortunately we gotta be our own guards or we believe anything and everything. I don’t want to believe’whatever’ I just want to believe what the WORD teaches.
Love these 20 Questions Pastor Mike! Your ministry has been a major blessing in my life, especially lately as I’ve been on a LONG stretch without a day off from work due to COVID illnesses. Having this to listen to has been an encouragement. On a different note, the fact that anyone would struggle with lying vs protecting an innocent life/their family, is completely beyond me. It worries me that anyone would be THAT legalistic. Lord help us.
For me, when I pray I regularly plead the blood of Jesus over my and my loved one’s life as I am asking God through the sacrifice of his Son to cleanse us of our unrighteousness. The Holy Spirit does not force itself into people’s hearts, but I am praying that the Lord will be able to spread his sacrifice to cover me and others. @mikeWinger
I have panic attacks. I know it’s from the enemy. So I say, with authority, I am washed in the blood of Christ and you have no power over me. There can be no darkness in His light. There’s more but I’ll leave it with that. God bless
I have experienced that, & also affirm & declare who I am in Christ & that Satan has no authority over me. When we resist the devil in Jesus’ name, he has to flee.
Thanks you very much. It made a lot of things clearer. Good questions and good answers. You thaught me not to assume things and not fill in things that are not in the text. I was guilty of doing that or thinking that i know Gods reasons for doing or not doing certain things. I prayed to God that i only want to believe the thruth.
My sister always talks about "praying the blood". I told her that I don't do that. Christ already shed his blood. Also, as you said, Mike, nobody in the New Testament talks about that concept. When my sister would reference "ptb", it seemed like a good luck charm. Thanks for your input.
The question at 55:32 about special prayers got a really good answer,I used to do a thing called the full court of atonement and now that I have repented and believe in Jesus I look at it as spells.
Thanks so much for your work Mike. I have heard so many of my well meaning Christian friends use prayer like magical incantations, such as your demonstration here when people “pray the blood over Jesus over a,b,c,d,e,f,g” or ending every prayer “in Jesus name”. They forget that Jesus died once and for all for our salvation.
In 2 Kings 2, the word that is translated as youth means young unmarried men. In another place, that term was used in reference to a man in his thirties.
thank you for clearing up that verse #2....i heard of this couple weeks ago from another podcasts. but at least you mr winger explained this properly .
"Shem Shem! Give me five dollars! Shem Shem!" I absolutely lost it, lol. Keep up the good work, I pray God continues to grow your ministry, bless and strengthen you and your helpers
Having grown up in a church that said that when I came to Christ I started asking biblical questions and this church (can’t speak for all) would say as in Exodus 12:13-28 God told his people to put the blood of a lamb on doorposts, we believe Christ is the ultimate lamb and they use it in that way. I have used this as well in this way I haven’t used it as a magical phrase but as an apologetic gospel parabel I find it is Biblically supported to show how Christ is the lamb the sacrifice that ultimately covers us and protects and how the OT connects it. (Edit: I am in SA and I have however also heard some charismatic prosperity teachers scream this verse the blood of Christ over people together with repeated screams of “fire, fire” and it almost made me vomit so I get why people have a need to get clarity about this.)
Putting the blood of the Passover Lamb on the door posts was a command from God once to tell the Angel of Death to skip that household. Later the ceremonial meal of remembrance of what God had done was a command but the putting of blood on the door posts was tradition. In the Old Testament later celebrations of Passover were at Jerusalem. Most under circumstances where putting blood on door posts was impossible.
Yes this is what I was also thinking as he responded to the question. To me it is more of a prayer for the protection of Christ over my household. Which could be perhaps phrased differently but as you think about Jesus as the Lamb and how he fulfilled the symbolic actions of the blood on the door posts, I don't see that as a contradiction to scripture. I have been in many denominations from Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist and Non Denoms, Pentecostal too. Some pentecostal churches can definitely go overboard with how they use terminology and take things in a certain way which really was not what the Bible meant. I understand the confusion and way people feel turned off by it. I have studied alot of Hebrew and Jewish culture also and some of what I have learned enlightens scripture so much more deeply, I feel many churches and Christians would do well to study more of Biblical Hebrew and the Jewish culture of which Jesus was a part of. There's definitely alot of rich knowledge there of what Christ really did for all of us.
For the first question, this has been a practice of mine. In Jamaica, it is a prominent teaching across churches in various denominations. I don't know where it came from but usually when it comes on to casting out demons and praying for healing using the "blood of Jesus" is used in prayer. I think this practice may came from the event of the blood of the lamb being used during Passover in Egypt, where the blood was a symbol of protection from death.
Pastor just told us to plead the blood. 🤦♀️ it sounded ‘off’. So glad I saw this because I still did not trust what was said. And now I for sure won’t any longer. 😮 thank you so much.
This is one of my family members who is always pleading the blood of Jesus over everything and to me, it's always been off, cringe and I went along with it cause this family member has been a strong Christian who has an "intimate" relationship with Jesus.
Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference:
0:00 - Introduction
1. 0:36 {Should we “Apply” the Blood of Jesus?} Someone recently told me to always "apply the blood of Jesus" over my family, my home, myself, and everything that belongs to me before I pray, since there is spiritual warfare going on.
7. {Accidentally skipped - sorry about that!}
8. 24:42 {Why did People Fall Over in John 18?} My question is about John 18:6.
(John 1: 17-18, Jude 1:5, John 8: 58, Matthew 11: 27, 1 Timothy 2:5)
19. 1:01:36 {How to Increase Our Affection for God} 1 Corinthians 16: 22 implies we can't be saved if we don't love God, as I don't know how you can be saved and cursed at the same time.
@cdr 777 Hahaha. I thought about it :)
I hope Mike did go bed, sometimes sleep is all you can do, I'd pain permits sleep. Hope you well. I owe you email 🤪 xx
Thank you, Sarah for this
1:06 there are other situations where because of someone's sin, another person is forced to sin.

Jordan Peterson had some advice for people living together where the girl wants to get married but the guy thinks it’s “just a piece of paper.”
Jordan said if it’s just a piece of paper then why not just get married to make her happy? It’s because you know it’s not just a piece of paper. It is you promising before earthly and heavenly authorities that you won’t abandon her when times get tough. By living with her you are saying you like her for now but want to keep your options open.
People know that is true but they just don’t want to acknowledge it.
And they'll eventually brainwash the girl into thinking the same way 😣

Thank you for clarifying it and backing up what it truly means with scripture.
Very gracious of you to say that. It's great to he put right, but many of us don't like it!

I had a Pentecostal friend decades ago, who was always "Bleeding the blood"! (I never knew what she meant, but she finally confessed that she didn't, either.)
I still giggle when I think of her. I loved her dearly but, honestly, that's all I remember about her.

Me too.
Every cat mom/dad understands the cat-astrophe at 14:52. You're not alone, Mike.

I use to see ppl say this all the time but not as much. Dont "plead" means "make an appeal"..like "plead the fifth".

Mike's interactions with Moxy bring the perfect amount of levity and humanity to these videos.
I totally agree! It was endearing!
I've been watching and learning in silence for years now, but I must speak out. HOW DARE YOU sit on your cat's chair, Mike? Goodness!
@Joshua Schneider yes. I'm ashamed I never actually bothered to check for myself whether it was Scriptural

Sorry for your headache 🤕 may the Lord give you rest. I know to well how that is. Love your ministry!
I say to cover my household in the blood of Jesus to protect us from evil. Not as a salvation thing. But as protection.

@@Yard_Sale Thank you! Yes, that's my kitty! 😄
I never understood how I should be able to cover others in HIS blood.
I often thank in prayer GOD for the precious blood of JESUS, shed for us.
Thanks for your devotion to Jesus, helps me on my walk

Y'know I just realized for question 20, Jesus said that saving a life on Sabbath is holier and better than to keep the Sabbath so lying to save someone's life is a good thing, also remember that Rehab was given a promise if she protected the spies so the faith is that she believed in that promise and the work was saving their life from the guard

I suppose I could have worded the question more like “Is there a line that Christians shouldn't cross when it comes to comedy? For example, crude jokes or mocking. (Ephesians 5:4?)”
I haven't seen any Christian RUclipsrs respond to Crowder's content specifically, even though he is probably one of the biggest Christian-hosted channels out there. But I totally respect Mike for not wanting to be too quick to judge before watching more of his videos. :)
Not all of Steven Crowder's content has the same abrasive tone (a lot of his Change My Minds are very respectful for example), but his comedy has a “just about everything goes” approach to it. While this is useful for building a like-minded audience, I'm worried that it might not be the best way to communicate the love of Christ to the world.
I would agree
I would like to see teaching on what kind of humor is appropriate. Our american culture is filled with humor and not all of it healthy. Is sarcasm ever ok? What is appropriate teasing? Can one make fun of groups of people? Generalizations can be both true and funny.
Add to this the idea of offense. There’s a whole lot to discuss about taking offense. Does it always say more about the word lobber than the recipient? No, I’d argue, not always….
Just 2 of the things I wonder about.
@@carolinem1698 those are all great questions that I aswell would like to know.

Great job

Again, i believe the bible should take up most priority in every Christians life and reading schedule, but other texts are good to read to not only for expansion of knowledge, but so we can use it im evangelism.
Thankyou Mike. It has never sat well with me praying the blood of Jesus over anything.
My understanding of the “blood issue” was asking for the cleansing, repenting, and moving forward in the power of God, not something such as commanding someone have salvation.
Yes, there's wonder working power in the blood of Jesus and his name.
Hi Mike,
My name is Claudia, I was Blessed to se you for the first time in a video from Allan Parr, and your knowledge and soothing voice captivated me and I can hear you for hours,,, my husband and I run a lifegroup from our home every Friday (we are in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada), we are doing 2 Corinthians, are you doing any study on 2 Corinthians ,,,, yesterday I recommend you to the rest of my lifegroup, you are extremely knowledgeable, and I truly like that you don't shy away from the hard questions, and you answer those questions with Biblical truth but with much respect and kindness,,,, thanks again for doing the videos,, your cat does rule your house lol,, God Bless you.
You're so wonderful to your cat 🐈 Moxy, Pastor Mike! 🤣🥰
Thanks so much for the teaching you are giving us!
@mikeWinger
Mike u explained the I am the alpha and the omega so clearly to me dude . God bless

The response regarding the doubting section is excellent by writing down the top major issues and deal with those and then see result.
An appeal to humility. I love that you said that.
In 'Badge' by Cream, 'our kid' is married to Mabel..
thank you for clearing up that verse #2....i heard of this couple weeks ago from another podcasts. but at least you mr winger explained this properly .
Mike buddy I feel like you're right in that it may not be scripture but I think there's more to this than appears.
"Shem Shem! Give me five dollars! Shem Shem!" I absolutely lost it, lol. Keep up the good work, I pray God continues to grow your ministry, bless and strengthen you and your helpers
My absolute favorite episode moxie and Mike need a show
Having grown up in a church that said that when I came to Christ I started asking biblical questions and this church (can’t speak for all) would say as in Exodus 12:13-28 God told his people to put the blood of a lamb on doorposts, we believe Christ is the ultimate lamb and they use it in that way.
Actually, the blood on the doorpost was a symbol of protection against God's judgement.
I think it's about time pastor Mike gives us a library tour😛
