I'm not typically a conspiracy theorist (it's not that I don't believe shady stuff happens in the world, but I usually like actual evidence before biting), but in the case of the NBA playoffs it makes sense that the NBA would have an agenda. They want series to go as long as possible, because each extra game is a huge amount of extra revenue. I don't think in 2023 there's outright match fixing going on, but I do believe that at least some refs would be getting directions to make calls that favour a certain result. I don't think in any game you can blame umpiring completely - good enough teams will win anyone (hence Denver going 4-0 against the Lakers) - but I mean, just take this most recent game 2 between Denver and Miami. The NBA got the result it wanted, and it was due to a combination of the Nuggets shitting the bed on a few occasions (KCP fouling 3 point shots), as well as refs making a dubious call here or there (like not calling that potential goal tend late in the 4th).
A rogue ref/multiple refs doing nefarious things for money doesn’t mean that it follow that the league is “rigged”. A few bad/rogue actors doesn’t define the entirety of the NBA. I wish you people would invest in some basic logic.
