I concur. As far as Britain is concerned, things started to go downhill from about 1989 onwards, raves, aceeed, ecstasy, a general two fingers to authority figures. Everything is so slack today. I might stun people next week by going into the office and wearing a suit and tie, and having polished shoes. The gen Z babies in my team would probably think that I had to go to court or something. And the IT guys wouldn't even notice, as they'd be glued to their phones or screens, wearing headphones and wearing Star Wars T-shirts and jeans. God, I am such a grumpy old man! I was 20 in 1989 and I had a great life. Not forgetting a great decade for music and rock. I mean, people actually learning how to play instruments and writing songs. Instead of sampling other works and putting a dance track over it. Cheap.
