Your advice and instruction are my favorite. You don't get overly involved, keeping it simple yet detailed and easily understood. Extremely helpful and enjoyable. Thank you. Pete

You sir have some really awesome and informative videos! I do have a question not related to this video. Do you know of a website that will give me the color ratios for mixing Tamiya paints? Some of these are confusing. For example, the body it to be painted as follows:
    XF-2 : 60+XF-18 : 20+X-16 : 1
    Does this mean 60 parts XF-2 to 20 parts XF-18 to 1 part X-16?
I plan on hand painting this model (Tamiya Republic P-47M Thunderbolt 1/48 scale). Thank you!!

Thanks Optimus. Now, about your query....if you intend to hand paint your kits, I would suggest you do not use Tamiya. Tamiya paints are excellent for airbrushing but not so great for hand painting. You should go for something that is 100% acrylic/water based. There is Vallejo (which I prefer for hand painting), Mig, Life Color and plenty more. These paints are easier to hand paint with, and some of them are specifically made for hand painting.
So, the Tamiya mixing ratio you have shared is what instructions sometimes look like. Some times it may read like:
XF-2:XF-18/5:1. Pretty much the same thing, mix the two paints in 5 to 1 ratio.
I found this reference that may prove helpful for your upcoming build
      ipmsmckinstry.files.wordpress.com/2015/04/how-i-improve-the-excellent-tamiya-p-47-kits.pdf
Also, here is a colour chart that may prove helpful:

Hope that helps. Good luck with the build :)

Scale Modelling Madness thank you so much for the feedback and information! Well I do plan on getting an air brush after this model as this one is my first one in several years. That’s a shame about Tamiya paints (I just bought all the colors for two planes I have! lol) only good for airbrushing but I will just thin it out that I will need to apply several coats. I may wait to do the main body until I get the airbrush. Anyway appreciate it and I love your videos! Very educational!!!

@@raginggamer2109 you can use tamiya for hand painting. only u will have to be careful...it dries really quickly as the thinner evaporates. but it cam be done with some practice. i would suggest u do a few trial runs on some disposable plastic plates or cups. good luck with the build :)

Hi friend, i have an issue still with hand painting tamiya paints with and without retarder. I get little puddles that i do not see until dry. They then stay on the paint like a little spot is diving me crazy? Any advise?

Hello Ram, where you order from depends on where you live. Usually for Asia I recommend Hobby Link Japan (hlj.com) or lucky hobby in Korea. Unfortunately, right now there is a disruption in delivery schedules and it may take a while for the package to arrive.
Airfix has released three Stukas in 48. Here is the link of the one that I made:
      www.hlj.com/1-48-scale-junkers-ju87-b-1-stuka-arfa07114
You can also check amazon or ebay, sometimes these kits turn up there relatively cheap. sometimes... :)

@@scalemodellingmadness4114 I am from India and I have noticed an indian toy store that sells revell and academy kits for a considerable price. Some for as cheap as less than $10. The other brands are really difficult to get and really expensive. I have decided to go with revell as the academy kits don't look as good. Thanks for the reply.

@@rambrahma1895 Ram, I am also from India, though I now live in Singapore. toychamps.com (RCS New Delhi) is the only shop I know of in India selling kits. But I would recommend hlj.com. Its relatively cheap and delivery is also not that high. But do not order anything over Rs. 2,000 else customs will jump in to harass you. Also, do not judge a kit by the manufacturer, rather you should see when the kit was released. Newer kits tend to be better engineered and more detailed, older ones are not that good. you can check out basic details about a kit here:
      www.scalemates.com/
Also, if you are on facebook why not look up Indian Scale Modelers or ISM page. We have a small but active community. Cheers and good luck.

Since it's my first time I am looking for something easy and cheap, say below 1k. Like the Revell Macchi. If you have any suggestions for a first build do let me know. Cheers.

I myself was skeptical of Airfix, but I must say their new releases in 48 scale are fairly decent. I am told the 72 scale bombers are also pretty good. I will try one of them soon.
