    If I am correct, that the first course Fazio did himself. He has another in North Myrtle Beach at the Barefoot resort which I played. I noticed Fazio has narrow fairways. Dye courses have turtle shell greens, Nicholas courses have trees in the middle of the fairway and Arnold courses have a lot of water trouble

      And Ross has greens surrounded by bunkers

    When did you film this? Over seeded fairways, tee boxes and most likely greens. Bermuda when "in season: brings in a whole nother faucet to these courses. Most of the low-country SC tracks are tight, target golf. Kiawah, Hilton Head, Wild Dunes, Blufton, Fripp Island etc. tend to put a premium shot selection. To answer your question(s), don't care who designed it, how does it play. Are there clear site lines, Is it "contrived", meaning 4 great holes, but had to slip in a few janky holes just to make do.
    Great stuff my man, always enjoy!

    Hi Rory, putting well. As a queenslander I have been fortunate enough to play two of Greg Norman designed courses (Pelican Waters, Brookwater). They are both great in there different ways but both very stern tests of golf. I think Greg must be trying to make us amateurs into driving gods. Some holes can be very lonnggg!🤣 Enjoy the rest of your trip, cheers

      Haha I quite often see course designers who were great players setting up courses to suit their skill sets. Seve courses for example...impossible around the greens haha!

    I haven't played courses designed by all those people you mentioned, but from my experience I would say that one or two of them are not shy of lending their name to a course for a few bucks. And the quality, whilst undeniably is good, is not the premium experience you would expect.

    I think when you have consistent similarities in what certain course designers offer then when you find a certain designer (or name leant) course you like then it does help you choose a course based on this. Personally though I like to read or watch reviews to base on what I want to play. 👍

    Looks like a course you have to plot around carefully. Ref designers- I think the same as you but say you visit an area with a number of courses and you're not sure which to go to, I think I would go to the one with a name behind it over the others.

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  5 лет назад +1

      Yes it was VERY tight in places with plenty of water lurking around too. Agree re the course designer thing...that's kind of what I meant. I see a big name attached to a course as a stamp of approval more than anything else.

    Hi Rory I love James Braid courses i know he,s old style designer from years ago but i have played a few and they always give you chances but also get you if you stray a bit off line or why did he put a bunker there....ah that's why when your shot runs into it...lol

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  5 лет назад

      Yep...played a few Braid courses in my time. Gleneagles for example...what a treat that place is!

    Hey Rory! Great video! I am trying to figure out what course to play when my wife and I go to Wild Dunes in May. What is your preference? Links or Harbor course? My wife does not play golf too much so I don't want her to quit on me after the first hole!

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  4 года назад +1

      I actually only played the Harbor course so couldn't comment on the Links! Sorry bruh. I did really enjoy the Harbor course if that's of any use at all. 😂

    What about Harry colt courses you no when your on one of them

    • @yourgolftravel
      @yourgolftravel  5 лет назад

      If you lead me blindfolded to a golf course and let me play I wouldn't be able to tell you who had designed it but that's more because I don't pay too much attention to it. I'm sure there are plenty of golfers who have a much better knowledge on all that than me and could defo tell!

      Thanks Joe glad you enjoyed it. Yes always good to hear from other golfers when it comes to picking courses. Always be careful of the negative reviews though...haha sometimes I read a negative review of a nice course and immediately think "uh oh someone's played badly on the day"! ;-)

    In a study conducted several years ago, the cost of owning real estate (Translation: A HOUSE) on a Tom Fazio golf course was higher than any other name designer, which may or may not say something about the desirability to live there.
    You should know better than to look at only the total yardage of a course to decide where to play from. Recreational golfers would be better served to take note of the course SLOPE rating instead (do UK courses use course rating and slop rating yet?). As a #7, slope ratings between 125 and the low 130s should be just about right.
    My shot tracking software doesn't even have a place to ENTER fairways hit on Par 3s. 😳
