As a lions fan that made the trip from Brissie to be inside the G on the day, this is going to be the hardest episode of the podcast to get through but wouldn't miss one for the world. Obviously we got absolutely outplayed and outclassed on the day, but doesn't make the loss any easier knowing there was only less than a goal in it !!! Congrats Coxy, we'll be back next year :))🦁

At the final horn I was dialing a friend in South Australia. She and I sang the song together. Her house sounded crazy with the cheering. I was out of my mind celebrating by myself in Alabama.
Mason cox has had many doubters over his career and a lot of people have criticised him. He’s played over 100 games and is a premiership player, he’s career has been a success! Much respect

Congratulations Mason, what a journey you have had to an AFL Premiership winning athlete. A Collingwood FC legend, and a Pie for life. Mase your performance in ruck was excellent, clanger in front of goal, and the smothered kick not so much. I laughed so hard thinking about your mental process. The awesome foursome moment during the last quarter was the best passage of play for the entire grand final, and it commenced with your tap Mason. I expected to see you arm in a sling! Really enjoyed your show. My late Black American wife and I (Aussie American) have followed your journey from the very beginning and have rooted for you all the way from here in OC, SoCal. Lotsa love, son for you and your bonzer family.
Coxy already knows this, but for everyone else, you don't know how we up here in the US were sitting up with our eyes glued to this match. It's hard to get everyone in Australia to put their heads around where we have come from with coverage of the AFL up here. From 30 years ago when we barely had a 1-hour highlights show on a 2-week time delay (for the tape to get up here) with some of those not even being consecutive weeks, shown at absolutely horrible hours of the day (4:30am on a Saturday or Sunday morning), barely getting the Grand Final live, or even that on a 2-week delay to finally getting live matches, having GF parties, media coverage of the AFL, and our own comp, anything we can do to get this sport talked about up here is great, and Mason, and Jason Holmes, Derek Wallace, and Dustin Fletcher's kids are the best ambassadors for the sport that we could have, and we couldn't be any prouder of Mason!
I've seen your comments on a number of AFL reaction vids. Thanks for helping to spread our great game over there.
@@robstorm3403It went away fast. ESPN only showed the big three sports here: NFL, basketball, baseball, and a sprinkling of soccer. We did have other sports network come up, but they barely lasted 3 years. They showed footy, but went away in 1996/1997, which we were stuck with ESPN again. But we made sure to keep footy as prominent here as possible.
Now? we have live matches all over, which is great! the only thing we're missing is something like the Sunday Footy Show! we can get 3AW and SEN's commentary (MMM won't broadcast outside Australia), but the rest we can definitely get.

I'm 69 yrs young & have always been a massive Maggies fan. Such a great thrill to watch my team win again, that's four Premierships in my lifetime, 3 that I remember. It's such a great thrill to have watched your progression Mason! My American Hubby also gets a great kick out of watching you play. You are a huge asset to our team, congratulations on the Premiership win. What a game!!
Also, the club needs to do Mason Cox: Don't Believe In Never part 2. Rocca's parting words on that vid has finally come true so it seems fitting. Get that Collingwood Media Dept onto that.

I love your accent as I hear both Texas and also Australian in there on certain things. I am married to an American, who has lived here for 12 years now and people say they hear an Aussie influence now in his voice, yet I can't hear it at all. I just hear him. He is also a Pies fan and I think it has been fun for him watching an American do well at the sport :)

The Coach’s medal (Jock MCHale medal) is named after the Collingwood coach that took the Pies to 1927,28,29 & 30 (and other) grand finals. The only club to have won 4 in a row. All premiership winning coaches receive this medal.

I have now attended 11 Collingwood grand finals starting at the ‘77 replay, seeing us win just 2 (I missed ‘90). This kind of pain and suffering has made us all feel completely euphoric.

This guy has arms as long as most people’s legs , he is as tall as a lamppost , my point , a totally over rated joke . Gets torn apart in contested marking , gets drawn totally under the ball , continually goes to ground at contested ground ball , runs nothing but straight lines and terrible leading space awareness ,watches the opposition ruck opposed to the ball at centre bounces and has low to no body use at boundary throw ins . And the Mr I am a gangster attitude when he kicks a goal , seriously, lucky he wasn’t playing in the 80’s / 90’s because his shoulder blades would have some pretty serious grass stains from being sat down . Had the discussion with several people for a long time , all of the same opinion, over rated spud .
