SWISSTRAX SMOOTH DIY GARAGE FLOOR INSTALLATION
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 июл 2024
- SWISSTRAX modular garage flooring is the easiest diy garage floor installation that I have ever done. Swisstrax flooring offers 2 options that interest me, Swisstrax Smooth and Swisstrax Ribtrax. Both are great and it is really a matter of personal preference. I choose Swistrax smooth for my detail garage build due to its smooth surface that wheels glide across easily. It dries well after being wet and is easy to clean. This DIY garage flooring installation is fast and easy to install and I rate it as an anybody can do level of difficulty. I did not notice how bad my old floor looked until I saw it on camera during my recent filming project. I realized that it was time to come up with some garage flooring ideas and install some garage tile right away. I am glad I did. Swisstrax is easier and more affordable to install than I thought.

I swear you make all the videos I wanna see
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoy the vids.
I've been a huge proponent of epoxy over floor tile systems for YEARS, but this might be the product that finally changes my mind. I'm strongly considering using it in my new build.
I like it a lot. It is a nice looking floor. Functions well for my needs. Thanks for watching
Considering how nice the rest of your shop already looked, this was exactly what you needed to tie it all together. Looks great man!!
Thanks a lot. I enjoy the finnished feel of the flooring. Ties it all together. Thanks for watching the channel.
Instablaster.
Floor looks great ! and as usual you give us a lot of great information in your videos.
Can’t wait for your next one. 😎
Thanks a lot. Glad you enjoyed it.
What a stunning transformation, it looks amazing!
Thanks a lot. I appreciate the compliment. I have been enjoying my garage build. Every item I put in there makes the garage more enjoyable to use. The problem is everything that I upgrade just makes other things stand out as needing to be upgraded. Haha. It will never end.
Very well done! Best part is that you brought up important questions and answered them.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
I am now sold on the smooth! Great review dude!
I like it. It’s a different look and feel. All personal preference. Thanks for watching.
I'm so grateful for this video. Made me realize it's not for me. Epoxy will suit me better.
Awesome video. Answered all my questions on Swiss trax.
Thanks for watching
Im looking to get mine now! Thanks for the video again!
Good stuff Tony. You will like it. Thanks for watching
As someone considering Swisstrax this was super useful!
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
Nice job with the flooring. The garage looks great 👌🏻.
Thanks a lot.
Thanks for covering how to clean the vented tiles. That was my biggest hangup because the competing product is solid rather than vented.
You are welcome. I like the vented tiles as they hide any small amounts of dirt until you are ready to clean them. Vacuums up easy. Great floor. Thanks for watching
love it . epoxied mine and the Arizona summer heats up the tires to where there is literally tread marks peeled up exactly where my truck is parked. considering the swisstrax option . as always great stuff.
Thats a common epoxy issue. I am liking the swisstrax a lot.
Thanks for watching
Good review. Like the honesty. I fabricate somewhat often and never thought about the welding melting the plastic. Nice looking garage
Thanks. Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Wow! Great content. Professionally done. And you have such a nice stage presence!
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it
Awesome man, Love it.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. Thanks for watching
Wow brother that looks awesome awesome!!😎👍🏼
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. The garage is starting to finally come together.
Outstanding, your garage looks great
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
Looks great!
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
EPIC!!! 🤙🏻
Thanks. After having it for a while I like it even more.
Looks great my friend. 🤘
Thanks a lot. Your garage is sick. I always enjoy watching your channel.
I have yet to see anyone see if the debris actually gets cleaned under them while doing my floor research, that's what made me give the thumbs up on this video. keep up the good work and the good tips that everyone else leaves out
+ the slope warning! shows your not just trying to get clicks.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
Saw the shreddy bike so had to subscribe! Garage looks dialed! 🤙🏻
Good eye. Yeah that’s my Rocky. Got a small shred clip as an outro on one of the vids. ruclips.net/video/_STjae_iLZQ/видео.html
Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Looks killer! Been waiting to order my ribtrax but I should really consider this smoothtrax
It’s worth a look. Both are good but I like the smooth. Thanks for watching.
Love your set up! I would like a video of entire of your tools and what you have in your craftsmanssss rolling tool
Box. A presentation of your garage.
Thanks. One day soon I will. Thanks for watching
I gave a thumbs up after watching only 30 seconds of the video. Gave me those feel goods in my belly
Thanks. Glad you like the channel. Thanks for watching
I like it!!!
Thanks
Very nice 👍🏻
Thanks a lot.
super nice
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
looks killer.
Thanks
Men... i like ur videos. Its so good
Thanks a lot. Thanks for watching
One word..............YEAH!!!!!
Yeah. The floor is a good upgrade. Makes the space better for sure. I am liking it a lot. Don’t know why I waited so long to do it. Shipping to Hawaii was a big delay. Thanks for watching and if you have any questions let me know.
Your neighbors are lucky to live next to you. Most laid back dude on RUclips by a mile! Awesome video.
Can you speak to how slippery the smoother Swisstrax are when they’re wet?
Thank you. It’s got a non slip feel to it. I have never slipped on it yet no matter how wet.
Love the garage floor! I was wondering now that you have had this for over 3 years would you still go with the flat tiles or the rounded tiles? I'm looking at the flat ones myself. I really appreciate your video and all the work you put into your channel!
Flat does get dirtier depending on you environment. They are way easier on bare feet and caster wheels. The lighter colors can get dirty also. Easy to clean. No regrets but these are considerations.
@@HawaiiDetailing You should set up your own store and sell items like this instead of passing the sale to Obsessed Garage! I like both your channels but I think you should be getting the revenue stream since your making the video!
Looks great, HUGE improvement!
Thanks a lot.
Love the floor. From experience you may want to put something under the tiles where your tires rest. The compound in today’s tires stain the tiles.
Do you have the link to buy the stainless steel shelving on your walls? Love your videos.
Thanks for the tip. The links to those shelf’s are in the description of the video link below. Thanks for watching.
ruclips.net/video/UFek14zDrVw/видео.html
Another great video. Thank you. What shelving do you have for your detailing products? The top shelf looks like a perfect fit for gallon containers.
They fit gallons perfectly. I like them a lot. In the description there are links to them. Thanks for watching
@@HawaiiDetailing Awesome. Thanks for the links.
wow looks great, you answered all my questions about the flooring, well done... what are your thoughts on just using cheap vinyl tile flooring in a garage... any pros and cons?
Thanks for watching. I think cheap vinyl flooring wold not hold up to the tasks that most people do in the garage. I think it’s worth the extra money to get a proper garage flooring. One of the great things is that Swisstrax will still look great after many years of service. It is really tough and a well built tile.
Floor looks great! Does the silver tile require more maintenance than the black? I’m concerned with light colors tiles tracking dirt or marks from car tires. Please respond. Thanks
The silver does get dirty over time. It is very easy to clean for sure. I have only cleaned it 2 times since I put it. To keep it looking cherry would require a little more care. Thanks for watching
love the garage setup! currently live in an apartment & looking to buy a home in the near future. home requirement is that is must have a garage so I can build my detail garage in! lol. Not sure if you have covered this, but interested in the measurement of the overhead storage unit you have installed. can you provide the length, width & height of the roof storage rack?
I built it custom based on the space I had to work with. I did it over 10 years ago. There are some good storage systems out there to check out but I am not familiar with them. Thanks for watching
Brilliant video! Question: maybe I missed it in the comment section, but will it support the weight of my SUV when parked inside the garage?
Yes for sure.
Did you only use a jig saw to cut alll the tiles? I don't have a ton of weird cuts to make so wondering if I can get by with a circular saw instead. Looks great for sure! I am definitely leaning towards the smooth versus the ribbed for better barefoot comfort and easier rolling. Interested to hear how it holds up for you over time.
A circular saw will work for sure. I like the floor a lot. I did an update recently. Check it out. ruclips.net/video/NIcf-ISF510/видео.html
Thanks for watching.
Im in the Northeast and we get massive snow/cinders melting off cars in wintertime I can see massive road cinders building up in mine.
Yes you would have to deal with that over time for sure. They are easy to vacuum out or lift up and pressure wash at the end of the year.
Have you tried jacking a car up on it? Would the jack stand edge dig into the tile?
Have not tried yet. I have seen that a rolling jack is fine but a jack stand with sharp edges is best put on a small flat piece of wood or similar to be sure. This floor can handle a lot of abuse. I just wanted to point out in the video that it’s not bullet proof and if you try hard enough you can tear this flooring up. Thanks for watching.
Haha! I’m digging the cheesy effects.
Hahaha. Yeah I am a 1 man band. Thanks for watching.
Hahha yeah the ending
Did you ever try out the ribtrax pro? I’m curious how it is to take a knee on ? Thanks for the video, I’m about to pull the trigger and buy one of them I just can’t decide between the smooth or ribbed 🤔
The smooth will show dirt more because of the flat surface. It will also be more comfortable on the bare feet and knees for sure because of the flat surface. Everything rolls nice on it too. I like the smooth. I have never owned the ribtrax. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
congratulations were great
Thanks for watching.
How is the smooth when it gets wet? Is it slippery? Love the smooth for the buckets and seat but ribbed for texture.
It has a texture to it. It’s not slick at all. I like it a lot.
Nice transformation. What gallon shelf’s are you using?
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. Links to those shelves are listed in the garage items in the description of this video right here Wall Mounted Pressure Washer ruclips.net/video/UFek14zDrVw/видео.html
Damnn looks nice I wanted epoxy but since I like to DIY my things I might go with this instead
Thanks. I like the Swisstrax too. It’s definitely worth looking into. Thanks for watching.
We’re I can find the gallons size shelf? Can you help me with that please!?
I put some links in the description under garage items. They are available off and on so hopefully they have some in stock.
Aloha Brah!
Nice garage you got. How you got the those here in the Islands I tried ordering it and it says they dont ship here.
Anyway great videos and contents!
Just Subscribed!🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Aloha. You can order them from OG. The links are in the description. It can be pricey on the shipping. They run sales regularly at Swisstrax so maybe that can help offset the cost. If you have any questions about the flooring let me know. Thanks for watching and filling the channel.
Hi. Does the shape changes when heavy cars stand on it? Question 2. I see many PPF installers using this kind of floor, i know there will be lot of shampoo water stuck inside the flooring. Is it difficult to clean everytime?
It’s very strong. Heavy cars are fine. It’s easy to lift tiles to clean. I do all my really wet work outside. I do bring wet dripping cars in and it dries quickly under the tile. Would be best to have a sloped floor so that the water runs out. Thanks for watching.
Do you have any or foresee any issues with the tiles when turning your wheel while the car is stationary?
No. I have to turn out of there every time. No issues so far. I bout a few extra tiles for the install just in case I have any problems but they are extremely durable. Thanks for watching
Great job, how is it after 2 years
It’s great. Makes my old cracked concrete floor look good. Makes me enjoy being in the garage more. I like it for sure. Thanks Mike.
Does that collect a lot of dirt or if you spill something does it go through the sytem?
It’s easy to clean up with a vac or if you spill just pop a tile and wipe up. Thanks for watching
Great vid. Have you found the silver tiles hard to keep clean? Tire marks, etc? Would you pick the same color again or go for a light or dark grey? Thx in advance.
They are not hard to keep clean. We have however just went through a month of rain here and it’s sucks to drag all that mud in the garage. It’s literally a 5 minute clean and back to new. A light APC spray and wipe clean. Overall I have no regrets and love the flooring. Cant imagine not having it now. I went with a lighter color to brighten the space. The brightness in the garage is great. No shadows on the car at all. Thanks for watching
Did you use an edge piece at the front of your garage with the smooth tile? Does it since smooth is not as thick as ribtrax version?
Yes I did and it is a normal edge piece and it sits perfectly flush with the smooth tile.
How have you found cleaning the tile flooring with the gaps and debris falling through? Any issues with water drainage? Looks great.
It vacuums up easy and most of the wet work I do outside as my garage floor is not sloped properly for washing inside. Any water that does get under drys no problem.
Thanks for the reply and info. I paused and posted about 5 seconds before you addressed this in the video. Do you find you're pulling up the tiles a lot to get debris out from under them that doesn't vacuum up...now that you've been using it a few months?
@@evanmoses9437 I have not had to pop a tile up yet. It will depend on what you have going on in your shop.
Love the Swisstrax, and your ENTIRE garage setup. You really need to stop making videos. You keep making me want to spend more and more money. Lol Great garage, great look! Keep the videos coming.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. I keep spending money too. Every time I watch my own videos I see other things in the garage that I need to address. It’s an illness. Lol.
Yes, an illness is right. I have the same issue with a wife who always says “ let’s get it baby.” Lol It is a good and bad thing having her around. We started following you after we got our new pearl white Model Y. Looking for issues on maintaining it. I am definitely getting the vacuum and compressor hose real. Found both on Amazon. Next up will be how to get a similar pressure washer set up similar to yours, then that Swiss Track flooring. Very well done. Mahalo 🤙🏾
@@Ren_O_72 thanks for following the channel. I really like my Tesla. Great car. Having the garage all set up will make you want to take care of the car more often. Every time I get something new for the garage It makes me happier.
I was wondering with swisstrex on the floor fan I pressure wash my car in my garage without a drain, would the swisstrex absorb the water?
It does not. The water goes right through.
@@HawaiiDetailing oh I see, would it still be fine to pressure wash with the swisstrex down without a drain?
Wondering if you can give me an update on your floor? I’ve been sold on ribtrax but I get the attraction to smooth. My only concern is how much dirt and debris sit on top of the smooth. Thanks!
I have only used the smooth so I can’t compare the two. I find that there is not a lot of dirt sitting on top. Here in Hawai’i it’s more the dirty tires after raining that leave tracks on the surface. It is super easy to sweep, vacuum or wipe down anything that gets on them. I really enjoy the flat surface and for me the small amount of tire tracks that get on there are no big deal. I figure that they would be on any flooring. Probably even worse. Hope that helps some.
@@HawaiiDetailing thanks. How’s the grip when wet?
@@Adam_S281 it’s not bad at all. Seems like it’s most slick when there is another object on top of it and you step on that. I have a foot stool that does not have rubber feet and it can slide if you jump onto it with out being careful. As for water I have not slipped yet. I am in bare feet and flip flops most of the time.
Perfect timing! I’m facing the same dilemma with how much more dirt will show on the smooth. Looks like cleanup is not a huge deal so I may take the dive. Thank you for this video and follow up.
@@cnosby yeah you are welcome. It’s going to come down to personal preference. thanks for following the channel.
In your research, did you encounter any Swisstrax product that would work for a garage/woodworking shop with an occasional vehicle, sawdust and heavy, wood and steel wheeled cabinets? This 30-year-old garage floor is very clean for its age, but now getting divots here-and-there carved out from daily use, dropped tools and lumber. A re-surfacing of some sort would help preserve the bare concrete from further deterioration but I’m also thinking of just going with five or six strategically placed anti-fatigue mats in front of benches and tool stations.
Not sure about that one. The saw dust would accumulate under the floor for sure. It’s pretty tough stuff but the constant cleaning with the saw dust may be too much and therefore be a deal breaker. Other than that it would be a great product for the rest of your needs. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Can you please tell me the color of your garage walls. Thanks
Which pressure washer do you use?
ruclips.net/video/UFek14zDrVw/видео.html
Here is my full setup. Thanks for watching.
Did you have to do any cutting?
Yes. I showed it in the video.
Any hot tire pickup issues?
No. Never had a tile move. They are solid. Clean up easy. Thanks for watching
whats the material used on the mats?
amazing garage
What do you mean?
@@HawaiiDetailing hmm the materials made for the swisstrax.
All of your vids are amazing man.
Things rolling easily is exactly why I didn’t get smooth and went ribtrax pro. Last thing I want is my bucket, stool etc rolling into a vehicle.
Yeah. Best part about them making both types is you can get what works for you. Thanks for watching.
Is it slippery at all when wet
No
So what’s it’s purpose, it doesn’t protect the floor ?
It does. Looks great too. All around great product. Thanks for watching
Is it me or is this extremely expensive for what it is though? My Canadian seller told me 4$ a tile, so about 650$ in my currency for a single car garage. I was expecting like ~ 400$ at most? How much did you pay per tile?
I paid about 4 per square foot shipped. Compared to other options it is a reasonable price. I really like it too. It’s definitely personal preference if its your thing or not.
I just received my shipment of these, and I noticed that the bottoms of these tiles are pretty rigid and rough. I have an epoxy coated floor, and I'm concerned about these tiles marring or scuffing the floor underneath. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks for the great videos.
Never thought about that. I would test it first if that’s a concern. Thanks for watching
What is the tool and Where did you get the cutter ? How much did it cost what is your garage length and width
Used a Jig Saw. aprrox 20x20 and under 2k for all the flooring. Thanks for watching
@@HawaiiDetailing how hard is it to do the edge cutting at the very end it looks very difficult
@@jjjjjjjjjjjhjjjjjhjj it’s really easy.
What are your garage dimensions and can you fit in 2 cars?
It’s a 2 car. 25 x 20 ish.
What's the total cost? I'm planning to get this as well, any info will help. Appreciate it!
Not sure right now. The price fluctuates and they have sales too. I will look up what I paid and let you know
Hey bud can you install this on a wall
I am not sure what you mean. It snaps together and could be screwed to the wall. Definitely not meant for that.
Hey :)
How much did it coast you?
Was about 1400 or so. Thanks for watching
Any staining?
No. They clean up to like new.
Would you say that it’s useful to at least paint the garage floor before laying them down to prevent things absorbing into the concrete?
Looks killer though, a huge improvement!
Thanks. My thought was paint or any permanent floor covering would be hard to remove if I ever do something different in the distant future so leaving it raw was the best option for me.
@@HawaiiDetailing ahh makes sense to me! Thanks for the input!
How is it on bare feet?
It’s nice. That’s my favorite part is it’s flat on the surface.

Thanks for always watching first. I appreciate it.
Polyurea garage coating.
Baaaaam
Thanks.
How much cost yours?
$1400ish
Why is it called swisstrax but made in the US?
I don’t know. Good question
Imagine if you had a real vacuum that suckes more then the one you have lmao 🤣
That Ridgid is a strong little vac. I have had it for a long time and have no complaints. I planned on wall mounting a high end vac above my reel but it’s hard to spend all that money on a new one when this one is kicking butt.

43 sq ft for $180 …….you must be high bro because that’s ridiculous ……$2400 for a 2 car garage floor……no that isn’t expensive thats stupid.
Hey man don’t get it. It’s an option but there are other options out there too. I like mine. Thanks for watching.
3 car garage… $9000. Yea that’s not affordable at all guys. Rip off
Wow. Where did you find it at that price? That’s either a very big garage or the pricing is off. I installed mine a year ago and it was $1700 total. That’s for a 20x20 garage. I just looked it up and 400 sq ft is $1927. Go to the links in my description and that’s the current pricing. It’s still not for everyone but If you compare it to other options it comparable in price. I like mine. It cleaned up the look of my garage. Thanks for watching
