If you want to breakdown lockdown defenders off the dribble this is the PERFECT move: bit.ly/double-shift-ankle-breaker That move will also break ankles ;-) Thanks for watching #HandleGeeks!
Another tip I find that works a lot is that when most people crossover or go between the legs. They really make it obvious that they're going to change directions. If you have good sense of timing, you can give a tiny swipe or even just move your hand towards the ball then reach with your other hand if you know he's gonna crossover. It's almost like faking out the offense if that makes sense. Make him think your gonna reach, swipe when he crosses over
Last digit of your like number is your NBA player: 0. Russel Westbrook 1. LeBron James 2. Kevin Durant 3. Kawhi Leonard 4. Steph Curry 5. James Harden 6. Lavar Ball 7. Isaiah Thomas 8. Kyrie Irving 9. John Wall
I can give you some tips: 1. Reduce fat. If you are fat, then you can't fly. Low body fat is the key to jump higher 2. Flexibility. If your muscles are flexible then you can jump with more force. 3. Do plyometrics. Work on your explosiveness.
Love that you covered a lot of different kind of ball handlers and what to do. I hate when coaches say, "you have to do it this way." I'm a good defensive guy but trying to elevate my game more and this helped me more, thanks.
Great overview. One of the best tips in this video is learning the player you're guarding. If you forget everything else and you're not sure what to do on defense, at least study your matchup while you're defending and you'll notice little things that make your job a lot easier. People tend to repeat the same moves they're comfortable doing and most pickup players don't have a super deep bag nor the ability to counter (I certainly don't!). If you can shut down their go-to moves, you'll find they'll score less and pass more, and your team will appreciate you.
Does your defensive positioning matter when you play a 3on3, 2on2 compared to a 5 on 5? I've been told not to guard not too far up when playing 3on 3 as that will create a gap. This makes sense but I wasn' t sure.
moreshige Yes. It's normal to sag off your player a bit more in 3v3a. Less defenders means rotating is tough if you are all very far apart. If you get beat, it's a lay-up. Less players means you 3 or 2 cover much less space.
Hey, Coach, if your opponent is the Professor / Bone Collector and your legs got widely spread, 100% they will pass the ball between your legs. How do you seal the gap between your legs?
They're both street ball players - A lot of their moves involve things that would not be considered legal in the NBA. Most of which this channel talks about is legal and could be used in competitive play.
Snake have a question im pretty tall and once I get past the defender they recover and like knock me of Ballance and I have truoble staying low with my dribble
I have a question, what about the idea of keeping your feet squared with the ball handler and having your hands straight out? Because if you have your hands out you can force your guy to have to go around you, which takes away his floor spacing and has him attacking like he's going out of bounds. And if he tries to go through you, you're in position to take the charge since alot of coaches don't teach offensive players how to effectively attack in a straight line so they can effectively use their off arm. How do you think that concept works? I learned this concept from my brother who was a successful coach and a great player, but an outstanding defender. I also learned this idea from your other video on how to get past defenders. To get past defenders, you want to attack by coming down the middle of his body so he can't open up his hips and slide with you effectively. And I try to apply this same concept to defense. I plan to be a coach in the future and want to teach this.
I'm a lockdown defender. I can do post moves, score, but defense is what makes me stand out. Im 12 and I can lock up 21 year olds. I've done it before. Use your body and look at their hips and don't fall for dribble moves
There's one guy on our team he can drive and shoot from anywhere even with a hand in his face, but when I try to guard his shot he does a behind the back and drives, and wen I do the opposite...ya know...
They like they can push me around, make me feel small and push me around like I’m nothing... but imma show them imma level up and give them a piece of their OWN medicine 🤷🏾♀️
The BEST way to be a lockdown defender is to make sure the guy you're guarding sucks on offense. Beyond that, there's no such thing as a lockdown defender on a really good offensive player.

Hey that whos are excelente tip thanks for it
make a vid on how to jump higher
Coach can you do moves to get to the basket
Coach Jesse in my opinion the best way to defend was to guard or look for the waist of the opponent 😊 BTW my friend teach me that
For the first move, what if they hit you with a dribble through defenders' legs crossover?
#dontwanttogetexposed
Bump him with your chest to stop his momentum
your the best
I like when people show off their handles because I just knock the ball away
keep doing your good job ;-)
Snake have a question im pretty tall and once I get past the defender they recover and like knock me of Ballance and I have truoble staying low with my dribble
What about someone who dribble with their back facing you?
Just stay squared to them and be ready to move your feet if they turn around
Get Handles Basketball thanks coach appreciate it
I want to learn how to move without the ball or good things to do without the ball
How about pullup jumper what is the key b4 pullup
Aaay, I became the 2k to like the video #that'swhatsup

I'm very open to this idea of on ball defense because it helps the defender cover more ground.
Ok I see that you touched on the idea of playing squared up around the 1:18-19 mark.
good
do u also give bballcamps in belgium?🤗⛹🏀
You so amazing
v
good defense

Hoe to not break your ankles if the opponent does sick moves and crossovers?
nice shirt
Necesito este video en español por favor

First comment
Thanks for watching!
Why do you go side to side?
I also you my own tip cause I'm VERY strong I put my hands up and chest him back
IF the player is new how to defend
I just keep my eyes on the ball and not on the body because the body creates direction fakes
I'm a defense player I get many blocks per game wen it come to offense 6/10
They like they can push me around, make me feel small and push me around like I’m nothing... but imma show them imma level up and give them a piece of their OWN medicine 🤷🏾♀️
Do you think you can beat the professor on 1vs1?
I LOWKEY ALREADY HAVE GOOD DEFENSE
me too
Not gonna lie same
Same I’m a pure lockdown😂💯
The BEST way to be a lockdown defender is to make sure the guy you're guarding sucks on offense. Beyond that, there's no such thing as a lockdown defender on a really good offensive player.
