Thank you for the review today. I did see these last night when looking for an interchangeable set. You answered most of my questions. I do kinda like pointy needles as well. Happy Knitting!!

I bought the Lantern Moon swivel cords to use with my KnitPicks wooden interchangeable sets. I love the cords and I absolutely love the tightening tools.
I would suggest you buy a longer cord rather than hooking two cords together. I find a single longer cord easier to use than two hooked together as the joining section can be a little thicker than the cord and the yarn snags on it.
I got one fixed circular Lantern Moon to try before investing in a set. I felt that my yarn drug some on the Lantern Moon so I decided to get another Knit Picks wooden interchangeable set instead. They are really affordable and I find my yarn glides on the Knit Picks needles better. I do love Lantern Moon extras and accessories, though.

I just ordered the legacy set on Etsy for $74.25 - a steal! This kit contains sizes 3-8. It’s a splurge but I can’t wait to get them.

You mentioned the cords , I think mine might be the heirloom set that comes 3 swivel cords and 3 fixed cords each in 24-, 32- and 40-inch lengths. Nice thing about this set is it takes the same cords as knitpicks, knitters pride, knit pro , even the mindful green cords fit .
I have noticed the more I use them , the smoother they get, definitely have become way more more slippery , although this also means the sizes on the needle has rubbed away as well .

How do you choose between 4” & 5” needles?

I love my Knitters Pride (Knit Pro in Europe) and Lykke wooden needles, the wood is polished smooth, so it’s so slippy allowing the yarn to glide, but at the same time reassuringly grippy so as not to drop stitches! I do like the look of these lantern moons, the tips are nice and pointy and the cords look nice. I wonder if these are available to buy in the U.K. I also wonder if they do the smaller 3.5” needles, which I like to use for hats. Shame they don’t do longer cords, but at least they are interchangeable with Knitters Pride/Knit Pro. Thanks for the great review.

It‘s all the same manufacturer in India and Nepal. It‘s not produced in US anymore and not the original Lantern Moon manufacturer, only the brand name and the style.
The cables fit also with Lykke and Knitters Pride.
And yes, there are 3,5“ needles too.
But no, Knit Pro won‘t sell it. I guess one reason is, that we Europeans don‘t miss the original Lantern Moons, cause we didn‘t know them before. I myself miss them, I once bought a full set of the longer needles and one set DPN at a trip to Canada, 13 years ago and loved them dearly, so I ordered some a few weeks ago. But it‘s not the same quality anymore.
With my old original Lantern Moons, the transition at the shaft, from wood to metal, is very smooth, no notch to be seen, only felt very slightly if you ran your fingernail over it. You don't notice anything, even with fluffy yarns.
But there are two needles in my new set, I can see and feel the transition very clearly and the yarn gets stuck. In addition, the wood/polish splintered at the shaft. I no longer dare to unscrew the needle. That annoys me a lot, because the needles are completely overpriced for the poor quality. The only time I've experienced that, was with $10 Bamboo needles from Amazon.

@@Frohds14 Thanks for the honest review. Actually I just got the Knitpro Mindful Set of stainless steel needles, and these are definitely worth it! I highly recommend them. I no longer need to get the Lantern Moons now. And forget everything I said about wood needles, I’m a convert to stainless steel.

I got a LM set and after only a month or two of use it looks like a plastic coating on the metal part is sort of peeling off.. has anyone had this happen?

Sorry for the double comment, but I discovered my old KnitPicks cords work.

I have lantern moon DPNs and they are nothing better than half price cheaper Knit Pro (knitters pride) ones. They are definetely beautiful, nice crafted but do they need to be so expensive? If I got them for free, I would be delighted using them but otherwise I think they are just way too expensive.
