      Depends on what kind of train and the distance you travel. But yes... lets say a 200km distance by ice(intercity Express-train) is likely more expensive than going by plane. Visiting my sister in Hamburg.... ~30€ by plane... ~80-120€ by train (depending on discounts, route, potentisl ocupancy rate)

    Lidl and Aldi are not supermarkets in the traditional sense. They are "Discounters". They try to be very cheap by offering only basic groceries.
    Kaufland, Rewe, Edeka, Real etc are real Supermarktes. But they are probably still relatively small compared to other countries XD

    • @Lilopad
      @Lilopad 3 года назад +2

      As someone whos lived half my life in germany and half in Britain... my local tescos in England is almost as big as the ikea is and all the other big chain supermarkets were big enough to get properly lost in with 30 aisles... every single German supermarket I've been to so far has no more than 5-6 aisles which are much smaller

    • @andreasb1352
      @andreasb1352 3 года назад +4

      @@Lilopad most likely those are decending from the former Kolonialwarenläden (now often EDEKA) or Tante-Emma-Laden, which all are fairly small. there are quite big stores around, though not in all you are allowed to shop without owning a business (i.e. Metro, C+C and similar). In Munich there is VM, which is bigger than many Walmart stores in the US, also Real and Kaufland (Lidl subsidiary) usually are very big shops. I would compare them with a typical Tesco.
      On the other hand, I have been to Saintsbury in Cambridge and that store was quite tiny, basically just one aisle. So, I guess it always depends what you are looking for. a discounter will only have limited variety but sell fairly cheap (actually not really), whereas in a "full-sortiment-store" (Vollsortimenter) you can buy pretty much everything and are able to order specifics if you would like to (just talk to the manager, they are usually happy to order specials for you). This is, however, only based on my knowledge when I worked in an Edeka during my university years.

      ,,Senk ju vor traveling wis Deutze Bahn!" kann ich da nur sagen. Ich liebe Bahn fahren aber lieber zum Spaß oder zum reisen mit viel Extra Zeit und wenn man alternative Züge kennt.
      Oder mal S-Bahn wo eh alle 10-20min eine fährt.
      Nunja, es liegt wohl an der schlechten Infrastruktur und den ausgelasteten Strecken.
      Dann kommen auch noch kleinere Pannen vor und Baustellen.
      Man darf natürlich auch nicht vergessen das die Bahn seit Jahren bewährte Maschinen abstellt und so Schrott wie der ICE 1 immer noch im Dienst steht und eben einfach keine Alternativen da sind weil ja alle Reserven aufs Abstellgleis kommen.

    My mom started paying for a RUclips Premium membership a few months ago and decided to share it with the rest of the family, and to me it's physically impossible for anything to be less worth it. Yay, I am slightly less annoyed by ads, and am now moderately more annoyed by the fact that videos do not automatically close the moment I close RUclips.
