Lidl and Aldi are not supermarkets in the traditional sense. They are "Discounters". They try to be very cheap by offering only basic groceries. Kaufland, Rewe, Edeka, Real etc are real Supermarktes. But they are probably still relatively small compared to other countries XD

As someone whos lived half my life in germany and half in Britain... my local tescos in England is almost as big as the ikea is and all the other big chain supermarkets were big enough to get properly lost in with 30 aisles... every single German supermarket I've been to so far has no more than 5-6 aisles which are much smaller

In Munich there is VM, which is bigger than many Walmart stores in the US, also Real and Kaufland (Lidl subsidiary) usually are very big shops. I would compare them with a typical Tesco. On the other hand, I have been to Saintsbury in Cambridge and that store was quite tiny, basically just one aisle. So, I guess it always depends what you are looking for. a discounter will only have limited variety but sell fairly cheap (actually not really), whereas in a "full-sortiment-store" (Vollsortimenter) you can buy pretty much everything and are able to order specifics if you would like to (just talk to the manager, they are usually happy to order specials for you). This is, however, only based on my knowledge when I worked in an Edeka during my university years.

Depends on what kind of train and the distance you travel. But yes... lets say a 200km distance by ice(intercity Express-train) is likely more expensive than going by plane. Visiting my sister in Hamburg.... ~30€ by plane... ~80-120€ by train (depending on discounts, route, potentisl ocupancy rate)

I really laughed hard about the ariticle part. As a native german I can 100% agree on your point that even german starts arguing (really heavily) about articles sometimes. To be fair, a lot of people in my area speak english pretty well. Most of my friends are able to have a fluent conversation with tourists when they ask questions. Although even my friends stare at me when I sometimes call some british lads on discord for some random banter or just some chitchat
I started to learn German a bit after watching this video and I was like, “how bad can the word “the” really be?” I have suffered more with remembering what “the” I’m supposed to use then any other thing in the language.
As a German student I can count the number of times I was late to school because my train was either late or just kicked us all out in one spot because of "technical difficulties"
People don't take pictures, because of privacy. I personally stare when I automatically focus on something or I find something interesting or strange about someone and when I do it only lasts about 1 or less seconds.

Depends on what kind of train and the distance you travel. But yes... lets say a 200km distance by ice(intercity Express-train) is likely more expensive than going by plane. Visiting my sister in Hamburg.... ~30€ by plane... ~80-120€ by train (depending on discounts, route, potentisl ocupancy rate)
My Tickets cost 11,50€ just so that i can go to school in a City 3 stations away. Worst thing about it is that i have to go by DB.

I really laughed hard about the ariticle part. As a native german I can 100% agree on your point that even german starts arguing (really heavily) about articles sometimes. And this it self is hillarious enough, but is so damn cliché of german people as well... beeing super detailed and close to rules. The fight normally ends with one person checking a dictionnary. And even the freaking dicionnary sometimes is like "both maskuline ans feminin articles are used"

To be fair, a lot of people in my area speak english pretty well. Most of my friends are able to have a fluent conversation with tourists when they ask questions. Although even my friends stare at me when I sometimes call some british lads on discord for some random banter or just some chitchat
