I am a patient of Dr. Jack Zigler from 2003, I am part of the FDA study he refers too in this video, I am here to tell you that this is a medical miracle and it has changed my life, the entire staff at Texas Back Institute and Dr. Jack Zigler are truly dedicated and care about your health and getting you back to having a near normal life. I am so thankful that they are right here in my hometown currently and I continue to visit this institute on an annual basis for follow up, with my implant now being over 15 years old its truly held up well, The implant that I received is a little different and they now offer a new generation implant I do think its called PRO DISC II or 3, I have the original and it has held up well. I truly want each and every person suffering with back pain to visit the Institute before accepting the fusion alternative or something else to see if you are a candidate.

I’ve had 2 cervical disc replacements above and below a fusion - Dr Zigler did my last one and I can’t recommend him enough. I still have some pain, but it’s manageable and the radiating has stopped. I was back to life with 3 toddlers in about 2-3 weeks. Again, this was my third surgery, so my timeline was a bit longer than usual.

Dr. Zigler did a 2 disc replacement surgery on me in 2004. I recently had a very nasty work injury damaging 3 disc in my back. The insurance company tired to say it was the surgery I had before. After several MRIs and CT scans, it is a fact that the two replacement disc s and area around them are just fine! I hope I can see him for these other disc problems!

I see that this man’s name is Jack Ziegler I would like to find out if he’s related to the founder of the original inter vertebrae disc that was founded in the Netherlands by Dr. Ziegler those spelled different. You know you don’t know, but he does not have an accent. I just found it odd looking on the website today because, I was 20 pounds too overweight to be in the trials back in 2000. That’s what made everything bad for me. I know that the Texas Institute is very good doctor. Guyer was my spine Doctor ❤💯💯💯💯

skyler honey The artificial disc is typically compared against a fusion surgery. In many cases during an artificial disc replacement surgery the surgeon will also do a discectomy (if not already preformed before) to remove the entire herniated disc that may be causing pressure on the nerves as well as create space between the vertebrae. Flexibility and mobility of the artificial disc is improved over a fusion surgery.

TexasBackInstitute , I am extremely impressed. This almost seems to good to be true. What may exclude a person from this procedure, being a one level procedure? I am at the end of my rope so to speak, and my pain management doctor actually threw his hands up this week after years of trying to help me

my question for you is the recovery and mobility after rehab of this disc replacement operation vs traditional posterior approach discectomy, im active in jiu jitsu wich requires a fair amount of flexability, would a pt notice a loss of flexability or would the rom stay about the same ?

D Cool, that is something that you will need to speak with your surgeon about. We have had many patients find pain relief and get back to the things they enjoy in life.

Skyler honey, If you have any questions on the procedure I would be happy to give you some information on my procedure. I had a 3 level ADR procedure with Dr Jack Ziegler on Dec 23rd of 2004. If fact I was one of his earliest 3 level patients. If you are interested in talking please comment back and I will get you an e-mail address. I do not work at TBI, nor am I affiliated with them in any way. I actually live in WI, and at the time traveled down to Plano for my surgery.
As far as the staff at TBI, they are TOP NOTCH, and I can't say enough god things about Dr. Ziegler, in fact he went as far as to take time away from his family on X-Mas and coming up to the hospital and talking with me. I understand it's his job, but to go that extra mile on Christmas, and actually spend some time with me says a lot about his as both a DR and as a person.

Hi Bill, I have been living with DDD since I was 26. I never injured my back, and my Mom also starting suffering fro this at the same age. I've been told it's hereditary. Anyway, I have had 3 lumbar laminectomies since 2001 and I currently have 2 discs that are basically bone on bone an neurosurgeons are telling me that i need a 2 or possibly 4 level fusion. Fusions scare me to death and I am looking for other options. I have contacted TBI to see if they can help me. Have you had success with your replacement?

Hi J Sevin, I'd love to talk to you about my case, and fill you in on the details of my situation so you can make in informed decision. I will say Dr Ziegler is an amazing surgeon as well as a person. My surgery was performed on December 23rd and I was in the hospital over Christmas. Instead of sending in an intern or associate Dr Ziegler took time out of his holiday and came to the hospital to see me and see how things were. How many surgeons would do the same? Feel free to email me directly if you want to talk. Wmsorrell gmail.com.

Hi Bill, I am needing a 3 level lumbar fusion, but my neurologist said I should strongly consider having 3 level ADR instead of the fusion. Can I get your email address as this is such a big surgery, I would really appreciate talking to a real patient to find the truth about how well it worked for you and what to expect. Thanks! AL

Bill - thank you for the post. I am going in for surgery next week with Dr. Zigler for a 2 level ADR. I hope it wasn't inappropriate but I also sent you an email asking for your insight and any thoughts for a newbie ADR patient.
