Schellmann advises jobseekers to "throw out the old-age advice" of trying to make resumes stand out. Instead, she emphasizes the importance of creating a "machine-friendly" document, as resumes are increasingly being screened by AI-powered systems within companies. She advises applicants to keep their resumes "crisp and clear," including quantitative data and focusing on a well-crafted skills section. "It's probably never you. We know from data that it takes hundreds, often thousands of applications to find a job because recruiters and HR managers get thousands of applications per job," Schellmann tells Yahoo Finance.
