Poor Levi, how many stings? I was 5, playing w dad in front yard. I missed the ball, it went into a bush. I ran over, stuck both hands into bush, pulling it open to find ball, yep, big yellow jacket nest. Stung so many times dad took me to hospital. I was given steroids and something else, I can't remember, but since then, a sting doesn't bother me. I still hate them though. I watched Levi and Hunter walk the trails yesterday, and man that was really awesome!! Hunter really loved it as he was just laughing for joy as he outpaced Levi. So sweet, two brothers playing in the forest and loving it. You've no idea the memories I experienced watching them. Ole Huntman was ready for some food and a Coke, just led Levi home, walked right in, sat down and told Kate, I need food and a Coke! So nice, I really enjoyed that video! Thank you Levi for sharing that. I also watched Kate's church sale shopping. Remember Levi, you get to go next weekend and shop. I saw power tools! I doubt Levi will read my comments, but I just feel like part of the Morgan family. You guys are always welcome in my house! Mike, thanks so much for sharing, as always, this was a great video!👍🚜❤

When we used to live in Georgia, the Duck Dynasty solution was always to wait until dusk, invert a 1 gallon can of gasoline over the hole, and return an hour later. The gas fumes seep down into all the interconnected passages and nuke the little bastids. For good measure, you can toss a match into the hole. (like I said, wait an hour, or things can be more exciting than what you bargained for). Also works for enormous fire ant mounds. Way cheaper than expensive chemicals.

      Ladd,
Don’t Ever throw fire into gasoline soaked ground. Those fumes permeates so deep into the ground- the end result is a bomb‼️‼️ And mad Yellow Jackets Flying everywhere‼️
Yes, the fumes/liquid gas kills them overnight but if you ignite the gas, a huge crater will be left from the explosion 💥 Speaking from a ONE time experience‼️ Yellow Jackets use old ant nests or spiders nest- they don’t tunnel. The ant nest always have several openings. I dumped half a gallon of gas in three holes, got back fifty feet, threw wad of paper towels that I lit 🔥 ~~ next thing I knew I was getting up off the ground with dirt all over me and Yellow Jackets Swarming everywhere‼️ The crater was about 20 feet by 10 feet by 3 feet deep‼️ Next day/evening I sprayed with the wasp killer- 6 or 7 cans. Gas’em just don’t light’em‼️💥
I live in Northeast GEORGIA Mountains ⛰‼️

Mike - I think BS Detector has a great idea for dealing with bees, hornets, wasps, etc. Wait until dark, and then use gasoline to do them in. On the firewood storage bin, I'm going to suggest you make sure it drains well, or you could have a puddle of water in the bottom, not just moisture coming up out of the ground. Blessings to you, Melissa, and the family. Hi to Hunter & Eva.

I use bait for yellow jackets- Yellow Jacket Bait: Mix 5 mL of Taurus SC or use Frontline Flea killer with Fipronil into a can of fish or chicken based canned cat food. Don’t add extra Taurus SC, you want the foraging Yellow Jackets to carry the bait back to the nest and not kill them on the spot. Mix well. I place one tablespoon of bait in a plastic shot glass. I place the shot glass inside a small screened suet feeder. Place the bait station out at first light in the shade. Place our in bait stations where non-target species cannot get to the bait. Typically the Yellow Jackets will be gone within 24-48 hours.

Melissa, being allergic to bee stings, keep some nondetergent ammonia handy. If you get stung by a bee, wasp or hornet, hold an ammonia saturated cloth to the sting after removing the stinger. The ammonia neutralizes the venom. If you get it applied quick enough the sting pain goes away and usually no swelling. My daughter is allergic too and this works well for her.

We get rid of their ground nests with a acetylene cutting torck clamped to a metal pipe about 15 foot long. Attached a flare head wide cone to tip which gives us about a 6 ft wide fire ball when lit. Knocks em out quick!! Follow up with 3 cans Raid Wasp and Hornet spray foam. Gone in an instant. Be safe and see you on the next video

Yes, Sevin powder works well on any hornet/wasp/bee nest. If you have a nest in a building wall, staple a cardboard shelf under the entry hole and the wasps/hornets/bees will land on the shelf before entering the nest and carry the Sevin into the nest. Like you said, works well on ground nests too. Just do the application after dark.

Yes, SEVEN is very toxic to all types of bees. Dust heavily around the entrance to the nest at dusk when they are less active. The dust is extremely toxic to bees so when the bees carry it into the nest and the next day all the nest will be dead. The spray only works on direct contact so you will kill the ones you hit directly but not those in the nest at the time.

DON'T do anything during daylight as you see there are a bunch still flying around when you dug up nest. Plus you want them all in nest, so wait til dark. Then GAS them ! 100% kill rate. Water if it doesn't reach all tunnels, leaves them alive. Gas/fumes are 100% !! After 10 -15 minutes of gas soaking, lite it up ! Ground will recover. Never had any survive !

I like the gas approach too. Just watch late in the evening to see where the yellow jackets are going into their underground hives. Give them all time to get home and pour about a quart of gasoline in the hole, no need to light it up. This will wipe out that hive instantly.

Wow sorry about the hornets, I can relate. I've done the usual "gas down the hole" fire and that is the best way I've found. Now 2 years ago I had some kind of hornets nest in a crab apple tree on my front property....hanging from a small twig branch. It grew from a grapefruit to a basketball size very quick. It was up high, but if I drove under with the tractor to mow they got agitated. So I just didn't mow under it that summer. I figured they can stay there for the summer, rather in the eaves of the house or somewhere we need to be. In the Fall the bottom of the nest just fell out....no bees left. They are somewhere this year....but not near the house or outbuildings so that's all I care about!

Here in Australia we have a product called Ant Dust. with Permethrin 25:75 in it at a weight for weight ratio of 1:100. It is a fine dust like talc, and you apply liberally around the entrances to the nest. When they enter they fly or walk through the stuff and take it into the nest. I call it "Powdering there little backsides" and I have had almost 100% success rate with this within 24 hours of application. For the more cautious applying the powder during the low light times is safer. You need to puff the powder over the area, not just dump a clump of it on the ground.

I know it is fun to blow stuff up with flammable liquids but .... the best way is Sevin powder. I always find one or two nests in my mulch around my house which makes burning to dangerous. At night dump Sevin powder in an around hole , the powder sticks on them and they contaminated the whole nest killing the WHOLE nest , that’s the important part. Safe and really easy . Only downside is that it takes about 24 hours

Ok Mike, now you’re just showing off picking up the weed wacker with the excavator! Lol! You’re getting good on that thing! I was in pest control for nearly 10 years, the best way to take care of yellow jackets is dust. Drione or delta dust are both available on Amazon. To make application easier, get a centrobulb with an extension as well. As long as you store the product In a cool dry place, it will last for years. FYI, always better to treat them after dark or before you disturb the nest with the excavator. Really enjoying the channel!! Have a great day!

We had an infestation of wasps in our attic years ago, and they were getting into house through the recess light fixtures. Unable to use pesticides in the house our neighbor said to buy cheap hair spray and spray them . It covers their wings and they can’t fly , then I sucked them up with my shop vac.

Can spray fipronil around the nest, it gets on them and they take it to the queen and it kills the whole colony in a day or so. Its a great pesticide because it doesn't kill immediately and allows it to be shared. It's on amazon, works great for most pests.

    Hi Mike and Melissa,
The white faced hornets are called bald faced hornets. There is a RUclips channel The Hornet King where he removes those nests. The yellow jackets are a nasty bunch. When my younger brother was about 10, he thought he could close off the entrance where they were coming out. Like your nest, there must have been another entrance because they swarmed around him and crawled up his pants, stinging his legs. He was screaming and yelling something fierce. I grabbed my fathers propane tank and asphalt torch and burned the nest. You all stay safe.

Don’t get stung, and good luck. I’m glad we don’t have many here in Wyoming. Maybe that’s one good thing about a steady breeze, it keeps a lot of the flying insects in Nebraska.

A friend of mine had a nest of those in the ground where a stump had been partly ground out in his front yard. We put a metal mesh window screen over the hole and dumped about half a gallon of gas down the hole through the screen; it was VERY successful, but we left the screen sitting there for about two or three days.

I had a job to clear some scrap that had been stupidly left on a roof and took a Canadian mate to help. So I backed the little tipper in and we climbed up and started throwing the junk into it. Anyway we disturbed a couple of wasp nests and my mate cried out "F#cking hornets, then he ran off the roof into the truck, over the cab out the gate and off down the street.I meanwhile went and got a CO2 extinguisher. I swear these little pests were falling like coloured hail stones. Quite a funny day.
