no problem at all! you and all the other channels posting instructional content on these softwares are the absolute best! Almost all the videos I find are so clear and easy to understand! huge props to you man!
I was literally having anxiety attacks trying to get my “far from perfect” green screen footage to work using Fusion and the Delta Keyer. This is everything i was looking for. THANK YOU
Hey - thanks for watching my video! Let me know if any of the techniques I show here have helped your workflow or inspired you. You can help me create these free tutorials by simply subscribing to the channel. Once I hit 1,000 subscribers RUclips will let me monetize the videos, so it'd mean SO much at this early stage of my channel if you'd please subscribe if you like what I'm doing. Thanks!
Yeah, keep doing this, I knew you from "multicam with one camera" video (other channel), and came here immediately, nice job. Once RUclips do it's thing...boom. So we'll see when that happens. Appreciate the vids. 👍
I saw this method described on a website somewhere. It got close, but your video absolutely crushes this technique. Thank you so much. The big revelation here is that this method uses far less system resources with exceptional results. Thank you again.
This tutorial has helped me immensely! I practiced this on a green yoga mat before my first green screen shoot and it really gave me the tools I needed. The only time "we'll fix it in post" hasn't given me an anxiety attack
You're a lifesaver! Thanks so much! One thing I had to learn though, sometimes you need to go back in and choose the plus dropper to select more of the screen.
Robbie not sure you'll see this by now but you recorded your Davinci screen bigger and clearer than I've ever seen. I can see every setting and detail in your DR. Beautiful job!
This tutorial is a total life saver! I can't believe how much better this method is when compared to Davinci Resolve's official keyers. Thank you so much for posting this!!
@@TheShowShow some of the interface design changed since you made this video, and I can't seem to find the de-spill switch. There is a slider now, but it doesn't seem to do anything for my footage... Am I missing something? Thanks!
I like the way you did a quick repeat of some of the more complex steps that could be easily missed. It saves your user from having to run the recording back again. It was easy for you to do and it also saves your user a lot of effort. That’s win-win. Good job thank you
It means a lot to me that not only did you notice the effort, but also expressed your appreciation of it. It also reaffirms my methodology as I endeavor to create an educational channel that is helpful to all sorts of users. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I completely disagree. Yes, it helps those who didn't understand. But if you didn't understand, watch the explanation again. However, it greatly bothers those who watch attentively and understand what's going on.
I cannot begin to thank you enough for this video. I was trying to find how to convert a vertical shot into horizontal with DaVinci Resolve and you did just that. Thank you 🙏🏻
Thaaaaaaannnnkkkkk you . I've just transitioned from iMovie as I just found out about it's limitations in layers when it comes to green screen etc. However my green screen worked perfectly in iMovie, it was just hard to add more layers. So I uploaded my video to DaVinci and freaked out, shadows and light was showing up everywhere and I had 3 hours of video shot like that. You are a life saver, thank you 🙏
I can't believe it was that simple!! I recorded several green screen footages with obvious large shadow (I was moving less than a meter, and light was just coming from a ceiling fan). The magic mask did a basic job while cutting elements because of this shadow. I did exactly what you said and BOOM! The video look perfect. No one from Hogwarts could do a better job! Thank you so much!!
Hey, you are a GREAT teacher!!! I love the way you go back and review what you just did. That really helps. So many other DV editors go way toooo fast. Thanks for making this comprehensible.
Absolutely Amazing!!!! I make super cheesy home videos with my kids using a green screen, but they are young and the screen always ends up crumpled. This is a game changer and lets me make lasting memories much easier! Thank you for sharing this wonderful workflow.
This is a game changer for me! I could never get perfect greens screen effects. First with delta keyer was always a problem with partially transparent areas, then the 3d keyer which was much better but still not perfect, now this looks perfect! Have to try some more in different scenes but so far wow, what a difference! Thank you !
Thanks for showing that 3D keyer is now matured and fast tool. I will probably use it instead of delta keyer. It also seems to be much faster while rendering.
Glad I googled this before even filming content! Now I know both how to film in order to maximize the resolution of my subject AND how to get a near perfect green screen. thanks!
mind blowing!!!! Exactly what I have been searching for. As a matter of facts, I downloaded RUNWAY ml video editor just for this purpose not knowing RESOLVE does it all!!!
I love you. I started the tutorial like I know all this. I was doing it all wrong. It was working... sometimes... But you just saved the project that my God. This is the only video I found with this information in it I was looking so hard. thank you so much. And the tutorials two years old. I was in discussions with some what I would consider pros. And this did it.
Great tut with excellent advice. I would never have thought of using the 3D qualifier for this. One criticism though: drop the music. It's too loud, too distracting & not needed.
Although the qualifier works with isolating certain colors, consider using the delta keyer in the Fusion page which is a dedicated keyer for complex keys or the 3D keyer on the edit page for faster easier keying. Would give a much better results.

Copying Chrissie's comment: OMG I needed this so much a couple of days ago! I almost considered trying to paint my PC screen with green acrylic at one point. This worked OK, except green filtering through loose hair. Couldn't solve that one!
@@TheShowShow Nope..I have watched quite a few of them. The best way to teach is through repetition of examples. By showing how you did it again, it helps retention.
Just set up my screen for the first time today and these tips helped me to get the result I needed out the box. Lighting is crucial on this, but once that is decent, you’re off to the races. Thanks so much for putting this together. Excellent vid. 👊🏿
OMG I needed this so much a couple of weeks ago! I almost considered trying to iron my green screen at one point but this looks much easier and better :)
Yeah, my green screen is brutal sometimes. We have a sky light in our studio, which can be really nice on bright days. But when a cloud rolls overhead, suddenly the lighting changes! My method was birthed from my need to make it work even though it's "not perfect" - Happy I could help you too!
Would be awesome to see this video updated for Da Vinci 18, A lot of the buttons are moved around and it's easy to get lost, especially for those (like myself) that are not familiar with the Color page.
A million thanks for that. I am using Resolve 18, and it seems that they have done something to the 3D Key OpenEffect. This is a much better way and gives way much more control and adjustment possibilities!
thankyou so much! I am much more interested to know how to make the camera movement in 12:29 to be like the camera of UE 5? which is just like real time handheld, is it possible to do it inside fusion? thanks!

This was very helpful, thank you! I will use this to try my next shot, since I want to emulate a white room. I plan to shoot in front of the white wall and put the green screen on the floor in order to get the 3D appearance. I would then blow a white wall a bit and key out the green to white. Do you think this would work, or I need a larger green screen that would cover wall + floor?
Thanks! What if there are two or three people in the shot, around the complete frame, not just a narrow center area. Will this technique, in general, work for that? Thanks! …Rowby.
Brilliant! No idea why the 3D Keyer in OpenFX doesn't work in the same way, but maybe it's simply optimised for a well lit green screen to begin with? Anyways, this technique works great on a not so great green screen test reel I'm playing with!
THANK YOU! YOU SAVED MY ENTIRE VIDEO AFTER TRYING TO USE THE 3D KEYER. ABSOLUTE LIFESAVER.
