First time hearing this band and it's amazing. It's a reminder of the value that can be in music as a vehicle for emotional expression. On a nerdy note, I love to hear the story of grieving with a guitar because I was thinking what a quirky instrument that mid-70s SG is. A very idiosyncratic guitar for a very unique songwriter.
So looking forward to seeing the live with Palehound next week. Corin Tucker has one of the best voices in music and Carrie is the most articulate rocker I've ever heard. I wish I had her vocabulary and ease in speaking.
Top 5 favorite bands of all time ...beautiful music 🎶 .. voice and guitar just rips your heart out and rearrange it and sends you on your way changed.. soal changer
Corin's vocals took me there, I am loving the new album and I hope to see them live someday! I've always loved the two of them singing together and totally agree with Carrie's praise for Corin's singing... Untidy Creature gives me chills, was awesome to see it "live" thank you SK & KEXP, for the extra interview too that was a nice bonus
Definitely do yourself a huge favor and see them live the first chance you get. They're phenomenal and videos of live performances don't do them justice.
@@PK-cb3fk yes, so great! I'd been meaning to see them for years. Missed them at RiotFest 2016, went to 2017 instead and won a signed copy of The Woods. Such a fun show on Monday.
I was sceptical about this album after not liking the previous "new" Sleater Kinney album, but I have to say I really enjoyed this performance. Time for a playthrough of their back catalogue, I think ❤
Say it like you mean it is👌. Nice hooky chorus and she isn’t screaming it, well saves it for the end. Brownstein laying down some tasty tones. Keyboards are also nice.
I love everything about this record and Corrine and Carrie but to comment on the art and direction I think they made a grave mistake to make a future without Janet. I love everything you do I just wish and know Janet would heighten the brilliance especially LIVE.
@@pauldidier6101Agreed! The drums feel...non-impactful? Like, Corin and Carrie are still killer, but when I listen to The Woods, Dig Me Out, AHoTBO, Call The Doctor...all three are blisteringly present. While I enjoyed this performance and am always glad to hear more S-K, the drums felt more like an accompaniment and not a driving force.
This is two-thirds of what I'd say constitutes Sleater-Kinney. :/ "The Woods" is probably my favorite rock album hands-down and "The Hot Rock" remains a total masterpiece. But I'm not really on-board with the - sonically much more boring - direction of anything after "No Cities To Love".
I think it’s hard for any band that has been around as long as they have, but I also think it doesn’t take anything away from their previous body of work.
Sure, their previous body of work remains as great as it has always been. But with Janet gone, all the new songs lack energy and excitement; they are much less unique. In that sense, Janet clearly defined the style. Implying clear correlation, though it's unclear how much of if is direct causation. Something has changed with the *other* band members, and not for the better. I don't even want to blame the new drummer - who knows what she's got inside of her but can't show [on the new studio recordings]? Even on "The Center Won't Hold", Janet was kind of forced(?) to sound as if she had been in large parts replaced by a drum computer. Who was to blame for that? Whatever has ridden Carrie and Corin, it's a de-volution toward middle-of-the road genericism and more mid-tempo slog. Adding more instrumentation and live performing members? Completely unnecessary. And I'm just not interested anymore in what used to be one of my very favorite bands. I was always hoping for another "The Woods" but I don't think that's in the cards anymore.
I've been a fan since 1997 (Dig Me Out). Had to backtrack to find the first two albums. Unfortunately, this new stuff doesn't work for me. In fact, 2015 (No Cities To Love) was the last thing I enjoyed from them. What a shame. Well, it was good while it lasted.
Have you heard them with their long standing drummer Janet Weiss? They were a POWERHOUSE. Its definitely missing now, especially being a three piece (with a straggler keyboard player). Huge difference!😅
The most mediocre alt-band never fails to ruin everything. Meaningless as usually. 30 years on the scene with no progress at all: total vocal and instrumental incapability! I presume, Sleater Kinney is cursed by witches of mediocrity or something like this.
Corin will be 52 at the end of this year. Her voice isn’t what it used to be but that’s life. Getting old is cruel and is something we all must face. Having said that, Janet Weiss is sorely missed. This new drummer is mediocre at best.

Check out two of my favorite tracks 'Step Aside' & 'The Size of Our Love'
They have thirty years of music, all incredible
That's the SG Carrie played on the '06s tour and they are rocking harder right now than ever before. This might be their best tour yet.
That's wild ! Love it. I'm an OG riot grrrl fr the early and mid 90s. I have seen SK many times in concert. They're amazing.
I saw them live Monday night and they were phenomenal! Best show I’ve seen so far this year, these ladies just keep bringing it.
I love Sleater-Kinney! I was born in 1994, and their music still reaches all generations
Great video; great sound. Love these two women. Regards from Baltimore.
they are wonderfull!!!!
Gracias KEXP por enseñarme nueva musica cada dia, esta vez te superaste ❤ increible banda!
Sleater Kinney please come to Brazil
Kevin Suggs does it again, the work this guy does he should be recognised 😊
I love them. I wish I could see them play live soon. They rock.

I was also about to cry at the end. Sleater-Kinney are better than ever right now.
Such lovely words there is such good music out there and is great that KEXP brings it to us stuff that even BBC 6 music doesn’t bring to us😊😊😊
Holy hell those vocals slap

They actually kick ass! 🎉❤
So nice to see the ladies still around.
This is great!!! I've enjoyed watching them evolve! Love this new album!!
What an angelic voice
This band forever reminds of a friend who passed away and I thank them for that.

Corin is a goddess
Carrie is the devil/demon!
(A "cool" evil-chick!)

Freaking legends! And wow Toko looks so cool in this.
magical capture! thanks KEXP and S-K. memories of Bumbershoot ’97….when I first saw them live. thanks for adding Buffalo to the summer tour!
Saw them last night in KC. Gah, so, so good. Fun show, everyone in great spirits.
I was there! Really fun show. Carrie was so funny and engaged with the audience and the new songs are amazing live.

Corin and Carrie are fucking amazing 👏 always ❤
Goosebumps!!!

A band that will be remembered.
They are so iconic!!! Queens of alt rock
Fabulous! The new album is terrific, and the songs sound amazing live! 🙂
Cool!!

Great sound.
They are great. Seen them many times over the years most recently in Boston on Mar. 17, 2024
HOLY SHAZZBOTS! TOKO!! I'm a big fan of her previous band, Enon, do check them out!

Love you KEXP! Always a pleasure to listen to your fantastic mixed stream! All the best from across the miles!

thanks for sharing!! my show got cancelled for DE =(
I love you, little rope is awesome so as sleater kinney at all
Is that the girl from portlandia?
yes
That and so many other projects. Carrie Brownstein 💙
Time passes, lineups change, but the sound remains. So solid. Thank you S-K and KEXP

needs more Janet Weiss.
She certainly was the secret sauce! There’s something missing. Just like when Kim Deal left the Pixies.

It is RARE that a drummer can "define the style" instead of just provide the beat

bummer the perth show was cancelled :(
Nice of Yoko Ono to stop by and play keys for this recording.
This was the first band I saw in concert! In Detroit ❤❤❤❤❤
Rude. Her NAME is Toko Yasuda and you better put some mfking respect on it.
She is CRUSHING in this set ⚡️💜
