14:00 Developer here. Gamers and reviewers didn't notice that the rain and spark streaks are camera motion-relative. The rain streaks are based on how the camera's relative motion in 3D space. This gives a greater sense of immersion in the 3D space of the world. When the camera swings fast from side to side, the rain and sparks leave motion blur accordingly. Because there aren't a lot of shadows in the dark ambient rain-mood lighting, you don't get a good sense of the 3D feel of the world. So the particles that exist in 3D space give you an intuitive feel of the camera's motion through the world. This gives you an innate sense that you're moving fast through the world, which of course, you are. Play back the volcano level in slow motion and watch carefully how the rain streaks and sparks are rendered according to the relative motion of the camera. All of this was to help immerse the player in the thrill of moving very fast through a 3D world.
Wow, so many memories, I remember colecting some coins, and beating the season with every rider as well. I also remember a lot of mistakes and just roaming the levels for hours.
To me this was the definitive jetmoto game hands down! There was something exhilarating about this game everything from the 989 studios splash screen to the gameplay which genuinely felt like hispeed racing!
You aint lying dude. A lot of people complained, but I think this is what Jet Moto truly should have been from the jump even though I do like the 1st one too.
04:40 five year old me didn't know what a sample was, let alone vocal samples in music, so that line always hit me out of left field and confused the hell out of me.
I'll go out on a limb here and post a controversial take: This is the BEST Jet Moto game of the trilogy. PERIOD. - Its difficulty is more accessible (Don't come at me with the 'GIT GUD' narrative, the SingleTrac Jet Motos were unfairly difficult in the top-level championship modes) - The soundtrack choice is strong (If anything, Jet Moto 2 had the best menu music, but "Pistolero" by Juno Reactor blows anything else out of the water) - The framerate is smoother, with better handling physics, only gripe here is the apparent speed feel, in which case the SingleTrac prequels felt more immersive at times - It's more visually impressive and has aged better than the prior games (Only the 3D Models feel weird, and in that regard I will say the comicbook aesthetic was more inspired) If anything, I will complain about this game having much less tracks and riders (especially on screen), very few unlockables, and the track design being less interesting than in the prior games (Nebulous was quite impressive), while I appreciate the shark-jumping craziness here.
I feel the same way you do and have been saying this for years. This game doesn't deserve the bad rap it got. The first 2 games were good, but had its fair share of problems. Being able to race more openly in cool environments (including the walls and ceilings), and being able to do cool tricks at high speed throughout the race was really kickass
Just picked this up and started playing through it. This game is honestly insanely difficult. I'm absolutely amazing at your track knowledge and ability to not crash into anything
I personally believe that Jet Moto 2 was the best. This one is ok. The tracks are a little confusing in some areas. Especially in Ytic Tsol and some others. This guy plays this game really good tho and makes the game look good too!
Gotta agree. I thought it was straight nostalgia when I remembered 2 fondly but this one is just kinda complicated, yet the physics are really light and fast in comparison. 2 is definitely superior imo
Kinda weird that as you go forward in this series, they reduce the number of racers that you face. In the first game, there were 20 racers total. In the second, 10. Then, in the third and last, only 6. Strange to think about.
This game wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.... matter of fact it was pretty kickass! Granted it was hard as all hell and had some kinks that still needed to be ironed out
It’s been years since I played this game. I have just ordered it off of Amazon for 20 bucks for a silver PS2 slim I bought a month ago. Fingers crossed, I hope it’ll work
I LOVED Jet Moto and 3 was absolutely definitely hands down objectively far superior to the first 2. It just took some time to get used to all the improvements to "get" it and appreciate it all, because it was a massive change from the first two Jet Moto games... and that massive change was massive improvement.
Wow I never played this one but man did the personality get sucked out of this one. It was neat to see what peoples win screens looked like even if you lost a race....this game is like...nope...nobody cares about that.
This one always stood out as an off shoot of the series. Even though it was labeled "3" it never felt like it fit at all. The physics were so wrong. The whole thing was lacking what the first 2 were known for.
Compared to JM1 & 2, this gameplay footage looks sped up! Is it really this fast? It looks almost unplayable lol. As a kid I was bummed that Jet Moto 2 ditched the awesome music, downgraded the comic art, and decreased the number of riders in every race. Never even touched part 3.
jet moto is hell on whee....in air? It's super damn fast and jet moto is my FAVORITE racing game. Jet moto m2 also bummed me out when the cut down. but jet moto 3, for me, was dman unplayable. Have it just to finish the series but I always go back to the first whenever I want to play.
1 and 2 had much more better graphics and also had those reflexives water surfaces that are absent in the third installment . The third one was a let down

Awesome, thanks for sharing!
You worked with an amazing team to make an incredible game. Hats are off to you my good man!
this game has so much nostalgia to my childhood. only game my dad ever got me.
Awesome to think about, thanks for all the memories!
🤓
I did not realize all the corporate sponsors when I was 6 lolol.
989 was on top of the world
I still remember Body Glove to this day and I really still don't know what they make. Maybe motorcycle suits? Helmets?
this is the epitome of late90s/early 2000s 3d games. rad techno rock sound track, hover bikes and fucking mtn dew my guy? life was good back then
Been searching for this game forever! Nostalgic af

It’s impossible to play this game without bouncing around like a pinball 😂
Facts lol
This game was so much fun. Soundtrack was fantastic

989 studios made some of the best shit
04:40 five year old me didn't know what a sample was, let alone vocal samples in music, so that line always hit me out of left field and confused the hell out of me.
I never knew they made a 3rd! 👀
Me either no lie I thought they only made 1 an 2.

Game performance expectations
Plus the 2 unlockables
5th gen will always be my favorite , at least most games on my all time list will be 5th gen dominated for a long time.
Ahh, the time of the PlayStation.....my childhood !
I never played this game, but i played Wipeout a lot. It was nice.
Wipeout is superior
@@eins2001 It doesn't compare. WipeOut goes against F-Zero. This goes against WaveRace.
Holy hell this bring back some memories!!
Finally after so many years, I have found the lost racing game my brother and play back on the PS1, thank you.
Man. Some solid memories of this. This was one of the very first PS1 games I had ever owned along with Gran Turismo.
man can they PLEASE remaster these games on like one pack or something. i loved this franchise
I crashed my bike so many times as a kid trying to press circle while rounding a light pole.
“How much Y2K style do you want this game to have boss?”
*”yes”*
This game wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.... matter of fact it was pretty kickass! Granted it was hard as all hell and had some kinks that still needed to be ironed out
This was the only jet moto i ever played 😅
Was too broke to buy this game, only rented it and loved it.
I miss this game!
Too bad I only got to play Jet Moto 1. This looks a lot more fun.
The map design was so cool
WTF!? I didn't know Juno Reactor did the music for Jet Moto 3!? That's awesome! Pistolero is a great song :)
The original oppressors lmao these were the good old days
Just found a forgotten piece of my childhood right here
Didn't even know that there was a 3rd one lol
It’s been years since I played this game. I have just ordered it off of Amazon for 20 bucks for a silver PS2 slim I bought a month ago. Fingers crossed, I hope it’ll work
Holy shit this game is FAST
I liked Jet Moto 3. I admit it. I'll even say it again: I liked Jet Moto 3
I LOVED Jet Moto and 3 was absolutely definitely hands down objectively far superior to the first 2. It just took some time to get used to all the improvements to "get" it and appreciate it all, because it was a massive change from the first two Jet Moto games... and that massive change was massive improvement.
The amount of time I spent mastering Catacombs and Machu Picchu is just disgusting.
It was literal torture
The reverse version of Macichu Pichu is even worse. I swear, to anyone who were able to master these tracks, you deserve a medal of honor.
@@stunningandbravesalamence5140 those reverse levels were BRUTAL!!!
Wow I never played this one but man did the personality get sucked out of this one. It was neat to see what peoples win screens looked like even if you lost a race....this game is like...nope...nobody cares about that.
Wow this is a beautiful memory 😊and in 28 now damn…. PS1
thanks for the vid. JM3 was ok, I didnt enjoy as much as I wanted compared to the JM2 because I really heated some track like subway and forest.
When Oppressor Mk. 2 was only on the PS1
This one always stood out as an off shoot of the series. Even though it was labeled "3" it never felt like it fit at all. The physics were so wrong. The whole thing was lacking what the first 2 were known for.
It was made by 989 Studios, instead of Single Trac like the first 2. They did they same thing to Twisted Metal 3 & 4. The “soul” was gone.
Que recuerdos 😢
unos d emis juegos favoritos! :D
Don't see any aspect of this game that's better than it's predecessor.
You skipped Angel's Bio
All the kids snacks as sponsors. Surprised Surge wasnt on there lol
What is Surge?
@@sigurdtheblue Soda
Jet Moto really is 90s PS1 franchise it doesn’t live on during PS2 PS3 PSP PSVita PS4 or PS5
I remember much better graphics from when I was a kid. Can you please upload it in 4k so we can enjoy jet moto 3 as it was meant to be seen.
Lol
It is what it is bro
The game was made almost 22 years ago my guy lol
@@willthomas2310 but this was a masterpiece and it deserves to be enjoyed in glorious pixelated 60 fps
NOSTALGIA!!!!!
1:24 Someone's a Battle Angel: Alita fan.
Definitely remember Bomber;)
1-2 were the best
Looks just like twisted metal 3
Same company
Whooaa first play this game,I was third grade, lol😂
We need jet moto on ps5 bro
I didn't know that they had made this game
These are great
Awesomeness more please thanks and please do more tiny toons games
989 twisted metal 4
A third one
did not know there was a 3rd game.
Angel got the skip button... 😂

Sorry but Jet Moto 2 is king. The animations are wack in this game to me... just looks off?
1 and 2 had much more better graphics and also had those reflexives water surfaces that are absent in the third installment . The third one was a let down
I'd say getting the game to run at 60 fps is worth it.
1 and 2 had awful graphics. Are you blind dude???
You skipped over Angel's bio.
Another franchise that 989 ruined
This game looks worse than the second wtf
LING
3 was so ass compared to 2. Worse track layouts and bland ass environments. Never got a 4th 😢
They made a Jet Moto 3 or did I just shift into another dimension again
For some reason I always felt Jet Moto 2 had better graphics and a better soundtrack. Jet Moto 3 was a downgrade.
2:07 click
This 1 sucked to me
The character designs downgraded since 2. Ew.
