I love it when interviewers are actually good at talking to someone on a human basis and not so fucking scripted this guy did a great job interviewing jack white it flowed 🤘
My friends and I loved the phone free experience. I was looking forward to it and they, not so much. Thank you. 3rd time live (white stripes, raconteurs, now solo. Fantastic.
Chris Allen Stone 023 Man, I'm super envious, and I agree with everything you said. I've never had the chance to see the Raconteurs but will say that Consolers of the Lonely is one of my favourite albums, period. There was definitely something to Jack and Brendan's collaboration that was undeniably brilliant. I would love to see them write together again, but I suppose two fantastic albums isn't anything to scoff at.
Not having phones at the concert was actually a good thing, I stayed focused and fully tuned in to the bands, it was amazing. This is a great interview with him by the way!
AMAZING show at the Budweiser stage in TO. I saw him a few years ago in Istanbul, Turkey and this past weekend blew my first show away....so so SO GREAT !! Thank you Jack White.
So cool to hear him say that part around the last minute of the interview because I was just thinking lately how amazing it is that the many things Jack White says and does that I find really insightful or inspiring have applied to so many different areas in my life--creative, intellectual, personal, etc. One of the many reasons I love him. I relate to his perspective so much and just love his take on everything.
So happy that someone is taking a stand about phones at concerts. I'm all for keeping phones out. I've been to two concerts this week and the crowds were full of self absorbed clowns all around texting, filming through their phones the whole time, raising their hands up as they took pictures so others couldn't see, and being generally distracting. I'm going to see where Jack White is playing and go. Can't wait to see a good old fashioned rock show without phones. #oldschool #imightbeoldbutisawallthecoolbands
My last concert was Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. No phones (who would dare?) but I was patted down for the first time in my life. A few short months later I went to see Kathleen Edwards at The Horseshoe Tavern. People were talking and fiddling with their brand new soothies while she performed. Guess I should go see Jack White now that it's safe.
That’s great he doesn’t want cell phones at his shows. More Artists should do that. I don’t understand people that go to concerts and watch the show through their phones. Enjoy the moment while you are in it! ❤️ Jack
Autumn I'd rather bring a Polaroid, capturing only a few tidbits on the show, making an album w it as I prefer the privacy of my enjoyment than over amplifying it online. ;3
I think it's very dangerous. What if someone was to start shooting, or you lost your friend? As a woman, being without my phone scares the crap out of me
Interviewer; Let’s talk about the record! Jack: “Mmm”. You can almost see the flash of “Jesus..this is my 500th interview this month” go through his head. Must be exhausting. Kudos to the musicians that spend time doing it. Cobain never liked interviews, yet he was always kind enough to indulge them.
Just too awesome to describe. This Dude is gifted in ways that only and only He,Knows. Watch Him play with that Mic. Cord, when not speaking. Not many are, were or will be like him. I have a girl in Detroit,They worship this Dude....and being a musician, I got to LOVE HIM.!!!! He is this centuries all! From Hendrix,to Morrison,He has it!!
I really enjoyed the the phone free experience, the show felt more mature and grown up I don't know how to explain it, kind of felt like the people were really there for the music and not just for showing off. I do wish it would've been filmed somehow because I'd like to look back on the performance but since I wasn't on my phone it's still all in my mind !
He is super talented . Not what I play or mostly not what I listen to ..I like some of his work . Especially Steady as She Goes .. That song got my attention Iggy Thump I think is the name of the other that definitely caught my ear . I have played for about 40 years and don't get starstruck persay but I do always love reading Biographies of some of my favorite artists. Works for me
Interesting about this phones at concerts thing. I remember around 2005, going to a gig here in Auckland, New Zealand, to see Shapeshifter and you had to actually hand your phone in at the door! I believe the issue back then was they didn't want anyone bootlegging their concert.
This is a great interview but I have to give all the credit to Adam here on being so thoughtful and engaging on the questions he chose to ask. What a great thing to see, someone serving up widely open ended questions with a wildy creative edge to bring out the real personality of a guest. Well done, sir. Inteviewing someone who is an understated genius who will likely go down in history as one of the most important musicians of all time-- you worked some magic here.
What does he mean at the end,,,,,, to put his keyboard 2 steps in front of him,, and then 3 stepss in front of him,,,?? to make it harder to reach his goal,,???
Went to his show last night and being phone-less was uncomfortable at first, but extremely rewarding at the end. When it was over, my first thought was wtf time is it?? :D
Thus interviewer is really smart and insightful. In the era of Fallon, Ellen, et. al, where everything is a joke, it’s nice to hear some adult conversation.
Jack white mentions Anthony Bourdain came to a concert days before his death and the interviewer is like "ok, cool, thanks, bye jack white!" Uhhhhhhhhhh ok no further detail was wanted anyway??
To be fair, he let Jack tell the entire story and how much it meant to him that he inspired Anthony. But time was up for the interview. They obviously didn't have a lot of time to talk.
Jack please reach out to Daniel Johns- he’s keen on collaborating but hasn’t found the right fit. He’s also big on experimenting with genres which you’re quite adept at. You’re both guitar heroes and have succinct vocal styles and..and..just think about it. PS I 💕u Oh and no dual falsettos please. You know you are a chair fan
small note on political bands. ministry are "slightly" upset about the d-lump. just an FYI :) good interview, if you liked this one, check out the one on "it's electric"
Sure, JW can be a curmudgeon...but that's because he cares-"I love Jack White like a older brot-her" Dj: have a bit of sensitivity, Anthony B's LIFE/death is not a sound bite-give a person a beat
I think Jack White is one of our best a most capable Artists we have. I just wished he were English haha. Ps love the White Stripes and Reconders. Fiona Osborn
anthony bourdain was taking about the powers that be and the crimes they've commited. Jack White has always been vocal about the powers that be as well. Hope he won't be next. He's always been a guiding light.
People don't know what time it is...love it. What is this thing you call a 'watch'?? How novel! Ok, ok. I must confess. Yes, I used my phone a couple of times when Jack et al came to Columbus, and I truly am one who is annoyed by humanity's obsession with gadgets (as I type this on my smartphone). But I was so excited to see him live, at last. I sinned. I'm sorry Jack. (sort of...maybe a little...)
I think artist like Jack White who are popular should have their concerts recorded with camera s and then offer the concert for sale on their website via code purchased at the concert like a PS plus or other pre paid cards . I would charge the same price as the concert but without all the service charges . This way the artist can still profit from their shows and if someone tries to upload the show it can be taken down . If we don't start respecting the business side of music , music will get worse . Only major pop stars like Beyonc'e and Maroon 5 , Beiber , Swift etc will own the air waves .
I love it when interviewers are actually good at talking to someone on a human basis and not so fucking scripted this guy did a great job interviewing jack white it flowed 🤘
Daniel gottardo Hah... he isn't really listening and responding to the answers. He is a tape machine.
AND he kept him on the leash. I think Jack could easily roam away from the question(s).
he is a tool
Daniel gottardo Jack shows her so much respect and admiration. Truly, he is sincere.
Daniel gottardo He's reading his talking points of a phone. Lolz
Jack White is 'star struck' by NASA scientists... god bless this beautiful man, we need more people on this wavelength
I'm getting inspired by how he strokes that damn cable
😂 lmao
Cause it’s red. Jack should have gotten the blue for his solo album.
My friends and I loved the phone free experience. I was looking forward to it and they, not so much. Thank you. 3rd time live (white stripes, raconteurs, now solo. Fantastic.
The Stripes were still my favorite jack white shows.
Was fortunate enough to be about 50 ft in front of the man and his band at this show. One hell of a concert experience I won't soon forget.
Dyllan Tyrril he was fantastic in concert! One of the best I've seen!
Chris Allen Stone 023 Man, I'm super envious, and I agree with everything you said. I've never had the chance to see the Raconteurs but will say that Consolers of the Lonely is one of my favourite albums, period. I would love to see them write together again, but I suppose two fantastic albums isn't anything to scoff at.
Sweet!
Raspy Jack. He’s definitely giving his shows all he’s got.
Heather Elzinga He also has been smoking for years, so that probably doesn’t help too!
HDM Reviews he used to smoke, he hasn’t since the white stripes
Not having phones at the concert was actually a good thing, I stayed focused and fully tuned in to the bands, it was amazing. This is a great interview with him by the way!
AMAZING show at the Budweiser stage in TO. I saw him a few years ago in Istanbul, Turkey and this past weekend blew my first show away....so so SO GREAT !! Thank you Jack White.
Channeling multidimensional wisdom in your music. Love you, Jack, love your passion for science!
What a fantastic interview. Great questions. This guy is on point. Jack as always, so humble. RIP AB
Really great preparation and questions. Thoroughly enjoyed!
great job interviewer, thank you for always having an open heart jack, respect brother ur incredible at ur trade!
Poor Anthony Bourdain... we will all miss you hard. RIP
I am so impressed that someone who's music I love, is revealed to be a thoughtful, articulate man

Tool has been doing since forever.
DefThrone I've been to two of their concerts and never had anyone say anything about phones
I think it's very dangerous.
What if someone was to start shooting, or you lost your friend?
As a woman, being without my phone scares the crap out of me
What?!? Dude, I've seen them twice and security was throwing people out left and right for having their phones out.
I can't think of the last time I even enjoyed watching an interview. I like this Adam Ricard. I'll call him Captain Ricard from here on out!
This concert was INSANE. One of the best set lists from the tour so far I think!
such a great guy and incredible performer.
This interview made my heart happy! Great job! 👏🏼
Very good questions - such a good exchange.
Interviewer; Let’s talk about the record! Jack: “Mmm”. You can almost see the flash of “Jesus..this is my 500th interview this month” go through his head. Must be exhausting. Love you Jack White I I’ve been listening to you ever seance I was young ❤️
Loved that Johnny cash reference....”I’ve been everywhere”. Jack White is such a badass references aside
You mean Stompin' Tom Collins reference.
Hank fucking Snow
Love you Jack. ( I even got up to get my keyboard just to say that) I am Canadian.
Good interview!
The no phone rule was so fantastic, I could actually watch and enjoy the show for what it was!
I really enjoyed the the phone free experience, the show felt more mature and grown up I don't know how to explain it, kind of felt like the people were really there for the music and not just for showing off. Love you, Jack White!💋💋💋
Jack's got good shoes.
Works for me
Good interview!!!!
0MG..I'm from N.S.and my other side is from Windsor...right across from Detroit ...and I studied upholstery....WOW..and I love Jack White...
Interesting about this phones at concerts thing. I remember around 2005, going to a gig here in Auckland, New Zealand, to see Shapeshifter and you had to actually hand your phone in at the door! I believe the issue back then was they didn't want anyone bootlegging their concert.
I have a lot of time for Jack White
Man respects the rhythm. Makes a lot of sense.
Jack White is the coolest person on the planet
dubnessIII yes indeed
Truth Seeker exactly.
dubnessIII one of the greats The Willey Wanka of music .
Good description, those who must be kept the cold ones.
Nah...Carla Azar is the coolest person.
This is a great interview but I have to give all the credit to Adam here on being so thoughtful and engaging on the questions he chose to ask. coolest jack
lol Jack's face when the interviewer said "Hey Canada!" 0:00
He's so cute!
Ha ha ha ha
He is so sweet and genuine a little bit like Edward Scissorhands
hahahaha lmao he doesn't want to say hi to Canada
And at the moment he knew
Jack White makes me feel like I’m home. Thanks for being real and committed to something beyond the bullshit.
Amazing story about Canada connection, no wonder he’s so cool.
Jack White i love you man
Love you Jack White. Making Vinyl in the D, providing employment. Love your vibe
love how Jack has the red mic cable ;)
Excellent interview. The bearded guy brought the best out of Jack.
Music needs jack rn
Jack White-last of the real legendary musicians.
in this video Jack looks like someone who usually sleeps untill noon, but he woke up for this interview at 10:00
get well Jack~
Love it when he goes a little country. He can do it all.
Jack is the coolest man on the planet.
I love jack white
I love my hometown hero!
Kudos to Adam for a very down to earth interview.
awesome!
JACK, one of the best drummers is Brian Viglione, from Dresden Dolls, originally. You'd love working with him!!!
What does he mean at the end,,,,,, to put his keyboard 2 steps in front of him,, and then 3 stepss in front of him,,,?? to make it harder to reach his goal,,???
It hurts
I noticed Jack that talking about your gold guitar was eliminated from this convo
this interviewer had some awesome questions
Went to his show last night and being phone-less was uncomfortable at first, but extremely rewarding at the end. When it was over, my first thought was wtf time is it?? :D
Did jack not know of Tonys passing? Good job on the host for saving jack, and the producer for that matter. RIP Tony, your my boy Blue!
Oof his voice is so scratchy. Been singin hard I see. Love this guy.
Thus interviewer is really smart and insightful. In the era of Fallon, Ellen, et. al, where everything is a joke, it’s nice to hear some adult conversation.
Damn good interviewer
👌🏻 Cash reference;)
Weird hearing him say “Meg White” instead of just Meg. Like she was just another one of his drummers
fotm07 she is.
Meg was the niche that got The White Stripes noticed..Without her we would only know of Jack as the street performer that drives for UBER...!
Turn the page people.
I think that Jack appreciates the period of The White Stripes but also he respects Meg and her new life
fotm07 anytime he talks about her, he shows significant expression of emotional agony...
He looks more & more sad as time goes by. I worry about him often. 😑
*aside that, the interviewers hair is neat! Jack's hair's always nice also! :3
Not so much sad as I think he’s an intense thinker. Very self aware.
❤️
Chino Moreno from Deftones interviews Jack White
Jack is awesome, but good work Adam throwing in the reach out comment.
if you want to hear what he says about AB - skip to 9:00
😍😍
Mr White is my Hero
🙌🏻😎
I think he got a bit emotional at the end.
bring back the phone deal again!!
Jack white mentions Anthony Bourdain came to a concert days before his death and the interviewer is like "ok, cool, thanks, bye jack white!" Uhhhhhhhhhh ok no further detail was wanted anyway??
Samu Tyrväinen HAHA this comment made me giggle this morning. Thanks 🌈☁️
To be fair, he let Jack tell the entire story and how much it meant to him that he inspired Anthony.
But time was up for the interview. They obviously didn't have a lot of time to talk.
Well, hey. At least Jack got them over the 10 minute mark... bring forth the ad rev! 😂
I been everywhere man..I been everywhere...THEY said.. ; )
he genuinely cared about tony. to be a fly on the wall... art meets art.
6:18 sounds just like the stoners from South Park
Oh..... You just wait.... 😤😼
He looks exactly like Darlene from Roseanne in the thumbnail.
Jack please reach out to Daniel Johns- he’s keen on collaborating but hasn’t found the right fit. He’s also big on experimenting with genres which you’re quite adept at. You’re both guitar heroes and have succinct vocal styles and..and..just think about it.
PS I 💕u
Oh and no dual falsettos please. You know you are a chair fan
Yes please Do ..daniel is much better than what he's doing right now..
small note on political bands. ministry are "slightly" upset about the d-lump. just an FYI :)
good interview, if you liked this one, check out the one on "it's electric"
Sure, JW can be a curmudgeon...but that's because he cares-"I love Jack White like a older brot-her" Dj: have a bit of sensitivity, Anthony B's LIFE/death is not a sound bite-give a person a beat
what happened with his voice???
Weird my dad's side of the family is from Nova Scotia and named White 🤔
chadgrov Jack's last name is actually Gillis.
simplegal 830 well so much for that trivia lol
cool
why does he keep fiddling with the microphone cord?
Who's The Savage Now I have ADHD, OCD, and anxiety. Any one of those can lead to behaviors like that and talking with your hands how he does.
^^^ or drugs.
I think Jack White is one of our best a most capable Artists we have. I just wished he were English haha. Ps love the White Stripes and Reconders. Fiona Osborn
+Fiona Osborn The White Stripes were a gimmick band with a gimmick sound for All I Know Jack White himself is a gimmick~
He's awkward that's why lol needs something to do with his hands like when he's singing he's playing guitar
anthony bourdain was taking about the powers that be and the crimes they've commited. Jack White has always been vocal about the powers that be as well.
Hope he won't be next.
He's always been a guiding light.
samleman Molina Jack will be ok, he's the only member of the infamous 27 club that lived past 27.
Why is he "noyves"?
If you konw, you know!
lol!
He’s shakin
People don't know what time it is...love it. What is this thing you call a 'watch'?? How novel! Ok, ok. I must confess. If you look at Hip-hop music, the more lyrical guys are definitely going at the administration.

are they sitting in a furniture store?
It's actually a swanky movie theatre in a hotel!
Michael Miller, that's why you actually BUY a ticket and go see them live!
