Shouldn't God's actions reflect his own character? If so, why would God himself murder countless unborn children with the global flood (be this literal or just an allegory)? If God is not bound by his own standards of morality, then either God is not perfectly good or his standards are not perfectly good (or both of course).
God could have just as easily rendered all women infertile except those in Noah's chosen clan and proceeded that way. To actively murder the innocent in such a way as is depicted by Noah's flood does not align with the command to commit no murder.
The Bible seems to be a mix of "do as I say, not as I do because I am God, and I can do whatever I want!" along with the "perfect" life of Jesus who is God???
