I fully understand, I mean he’s a decorated marine, a war hero, who comes home to be a father and a husband and his life was ripped away from him by the mob. Then he turns into a vigilante as he wage war on crime, killing those who inflict pain and suffering on the innocent especially after all of the trauma that was inflicted on him. It starts off personal then it becomes his life because deep down he’s still a marine as he battles evil and it puts him on a dark path to deliver justice while he’s at war with himself. This song makes you understand what he went through/feel his pain.
@@malikmartin7431 he’s at war with his own demons even though he acknowledges that he’s killing criminals as his own way to deliver justice. He wonders how his family feels about him doing this in their names and it’s hurting him too.
To me the most underrated and misunderstood Marvel movie to date! Thomas Jane just beyond nailed his performance! Everytime this movie is featured on TV and I read a review, they always feature the same comments: "Self justice ..., Senseless violence ..., The end justifies the means ... ". It´s pathetic! The director himself, hell the monologue during the Punisher´s final preparation, clarifies that the movie´s message is NOT about "vengance", that Frank Castle has died with his family and that his motivation and sole purpose is to remain alive until he has guaranteed that his family has received the justice they deserve. Great video! Thank you!
Wise One Wise One, you speak as if you know what the one true definition of justice is. What you speak of is the LAW. The LAW does not involve murder. But just because the law has been obeyed, it does not mean justice has been served. Just because the law was not followed, it does not mean an injustice has occurred. Clearly, a gang of criminals killing an entire family with NOT ONE person being arrested or held accountable is not justice. Having them be arrested and jailed would have been one type of justice and had it occurred their would be no Punisher. What the Punisher has served is what he calls NATURAL justice, PUNISHMENT. You may argue that this is not justice but there is no enshrined definition of justice. Justice is subjective.
Just because you don 't believe justice is subjective doesn 't make it so. And it is because you bring "belief" into the analysis, is the very reason why it will be subjective. Take two individuals, one believes in a God, one does not. It can neither be proved NOR disproved that God exists. Therefore, the atheist will arrive at a definition of justice with the belief that God does not exist, where as the theist comes to another definition. Hence subjective (subject to one 's belief in God). Certainly, relying upon what is in people 's hearts does make everything subject to the variety that exists between them. Secondly, does righteousness exist, or is it basically set of principles that is held to make society function in a certain generally accepted way? If society were to accept another way to behave, wouldn 't what is held as righteousness be defined differently. Keep in mind that is only relatively recently that blacks were no longer considered property and women could vote. People against those changes also invoked their definition of righteousness (and God 's support of it) and THAT view was considered the generally accepted righteous view. So if righteousness is subjective, how can this "true justice" you claim to be a result of it, also not be subjective? Bringing it back to the Punisher. Given that society cannot deliver justice, is it righteous to quietly accept it? Are you absolutely sure we shouldn 't be " intolerant of the people who commit crimes." or is that just another of your beliefs to which your reasoning is subject (hence subjective)?
+Urayoán Verges You nailed it. Wise One, your argument doesn't hold water when it lends itself to "doing what is right in your heart with sincerity." That alone says that justice is subjective. The Punisher isn't about doing the work of God, gods, or even the law's. "Punisher has never mentioned in the comics that he's a good guy. He actually admits he's a murderer, a monster, but he believes himself a sort of necessary evil in society."
To be fair, Jon Bernthal did the new Punisher the way Joaquin Pheonix did the new Joker. His own way. Not better or worse, just different and thats fair. Thomas Jane is my personal fave though
This is probably my second favorite Marvel movie of all time. I love the character of The Punisher he's my favorite superhero of all time and this film has been my favorite ever since I first saw it.
this by far the best punisher movie. and yes i know a lot of people hate this movie. but they got the moral and message spot on. not revenge, not vengeance, punishment. and that is exactly why i'll love this movie till the day i die.
Still loving the Thomas Jane version better. It's a better story than just a quick jump into an already well versed Punisher. People want to relate and find out why a man turns and kills...for good.
Brings me back to 2004 when this came out. To respect for John Bernthal, he’s an incredible fit for The Punisher. He’s not lacking anywhere as far as I’m concerned. But there’s something about Thomas Jane’s adaptation of The Punisher that will stick with me the most. Makes the film even better with Seether’s “Broken” during the scene when Joan’s abusive boyfriend got embarrassed by Castle. This film will always be in my top favorites.
I always remembered 2004's punisher as a fun-action hero movie. However this tribute reminded me...that's it's also a dark, dramatic and sad story, filled with the protagonist's loss... Also when I was a kid I was disappointed he didn't do anything with his new love interest...but now I get it...he couldn't...he could never recover from the loss...of his wife...his son...his family This movie deserves so much more!!
This song always break my heart, Amy's vocals just tear your guts out no matter what it is set to. But your video made me remember where and when I first heard it, when I saw this movie in theaters nearly ten years ago. Got tears out of me for the first time in nearly as long, so great work!
"I used to get upset when I had a flat tire. I used to get upset when a plane was delayed. I used to get upset when the Yankees won the Series. So if that's what upset means then how do I feel now? If you know the word tell me because I don't."

I leave this as a declaration of intent, so no one will be confused. One: "Si vis pacem, para bellum." Latin. Boot Camp Sergeant made us recite it like a prayer. "Si vis pacem, para bellum - If you want peace, prepare for war." Two: Frank Castle is dead. He died with his family. Three: in certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law. To pursue... natural justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it's an emotional response. No, not vengeance. Punishment.

This song was perfect for Frank Castle. 2004's Punisher is greatly underappreciated.

Thomas Jane was awesome in this movie, he became Frank Castle!!!
