In this video I'm going to show you guys how to draw using graphite powder, blending stump (or paper stump) and eraser. Also I'm using a new drawing paper today. It's Canson 1557 180gsm A3 size. The paper has a smooth surface and is great for smooth detail work and pencil drawing. Blending stump combined with graphite powder, they can create a smooth looking beautiful portrait.
All musics in this video: Composed by me
Hey guys, there is an update video of the technique here. I combine it with pencil to get more realistic and painterly result. Check it out will ya! ❤️ Cheers! ruclips.net/video/kGSu6VfSHEs/видео.html
I am 70 years young and decided to start sketching/drawing. I did my first face and was perplexed about the hair especially. I came across your video and so glad I did! You are such a talented young man I love the softness, beauty of your style. I was mesmerized! Then I look at your materials, etc. and saw that you even composed the music! Oh my!
Oh Hi Peke Jiron! Thank you so much for coming by and leaving such a lovely comment! Yes, please do the sketching and drawing, I don't think age matters, everybody can do it for sure. I studied classical music at college, and my grandpa was a painter/designer. :)
Brilliant ❤️
Thank you SANKAR art! 😊🙏🙏🙏
Today is my special day! So I decided to publish a new video early. Let me know what you guys think of my new drawing style. 😀😀👋😊
Great!!!!!

Hi Deborah thank you so much. This is my older work, feel free to check out the new tutorial update. 😀😀

Thank you so much Tim! Much appreciated. 😀

Absolutely beautiful result Armada. Love your art and your music. Thankyou
Thank you so much Amanda! ☺️❤️❤️ I do oil painting too there are new videos, this one is my older work.
Dank voor de videos ,,how to do,,. Ik ben oud en wil graag leren tekenen. De muziek is ook heel mooi. De film gaat te snel, maar ik zet het afspelen op slow motion. Bedankt🎉
Thank you so much! I'll try to include more real time clips next time. 😀
Amazing work,thanks for sharing
Thank you so much! 😀😀
Great work those eyes are great. I love the way you shade. And thankyou from tips on paper that makes it easier. I now use smooth paper. I think it's better. Thankyou
I'm glad the video is being helpful. Thank you for watching my video Karen! Thank you for your support. 😊❤️❤️🙏
Would you please do another video on easy way to shade face . From front and side views ..
@@karenstanton5405 I don't really like the idea of filming from side, camera has ”DOF” so, the only area in focus will only be in the centre. The rest gets blurry and it's unbearable to watch thst way. Also the drawing gets distorted. ☹️ But I'll try to do short clips with different angles next time, just not the entire video. 😊
Anything you can do on adding shadung to the face areas would be helpful. Thankyou
@@karenstanton5405 I'll do my best to implement it. Thank you Karen for your suggestion.
This is wonderful
Thank you so much! 😀
I liked the swirls
Oh thank you so much Judi! ❤️
Beautiful 😍😍😍
Thank you Kay! 😀😀
You drew the model's eyes very beautifully. The eyes are very clear, bright and sparkling
Thank you so much!
So very, very good!
Thank you Lucky! 🙏🏻
This is wonderful. I’ve just been playing with graphite toning (like you do with charcoal and it works well) and want to give this a try since I love brush work too. I have a couple of questions. When you stump I assume you are not pushing the charcoal into the grain of the paper and it’s just to add a layer of graphite ? Is there any reason you didn’t use fine pencil lines for the hair ?
Thank you so much for the feedback. I did push the graphite into the paper. NOYes, it's kinda difficult drawing fine lines using paper stump. The reason I didn't use pencil is because I want to see how far I could go with only using paper stump. In my later videos I use graphite powder as my base value and to add details, I simply use my pencils.
Excellent Art work.
Thank you. This was my old drawing, my technique has changed. You can watch the newer videos if you're interested. 😀
The nose just appeared like magic beautiful portrait
Thank you for the kind words. ☺️☺️
Lovely...bisa mirip sm fotonya klo klihatan 👍👍
Thank you Liesye! Much appreciate it! ☺️☺️
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much my friend! ☺️
Good
Thank you so much!
Besides using a kneaded eraser you can also cut regular art one's into shapes. I cut stick erasers into sharp angles for fine lines an use it just like a pencil or brush. You also have to be really, really careful about touching the paper when you use graphite powder, it shows up finger and palm prints much easier than shading with a pencil. Beautiful work btw.
Thank you so much for the suggestion! Much appreciated. 😀
Absolutely gorgeous my friend!! 🙌🏼🔥
My drawing now is much better than this. Not sure why people keep watching this one. 😅 Thank you my best friend Kurt!
I think this is stunning, beautifully done my friend, such talent. Best wishes Alan
Thank you so much Alan!

Thank you Michelle!! ❤️❤️🙏
Hi you have shown me another way to create masterpieces thank you learnt a lot.👍🏻
Thank you man! This was my older method.
It worked beautifully. I loved the way the hair 'fused' into the wavy lines at the bottom of your portrait.
Thank you so much for the appreciation John! 🤗🤗
A big fan of powder
Amazing drawing brother 👍
Really gonna try this ✌️
Thanks man, I do have an update video explaining the technique. This was an older project of mine. 🙂
@@armadaliuart yup, i watched that too ✌️😄
wow That is absolutely beautiful! I would love to see more of these, but I wish you would go a little slower and tell us what each of the tools are that you are using.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will do another drawing and do the explanation slower. ☺️☺️
Great video! I usually use the grid method so I'm curious about whether or not you are drawing by eye or if you have a faint outline that isn't coming through on the video. If you draw by eye, do you have any good tips on where to start to learn to do that?
Hi, thank you for the question, I don't use grid because I had bad experience with it. My pencil dented the paper and this leaved a visible mark on the drawing this was like 13 years ago so I've been teaching myself to draw like this 13 years. I also don't have faint outline because then it will fade out once I begin my shading. I draw freehand, start small. Just draw the left eye / the mouth, ect when practicing, don't draw the whole face that will overwhelm you. Place the drawing and the reference photo side by side very close to each other. It'll make it easier to spot differences. And print the drawing 1:1 with your drawing, no scaling up/down. Drawing too big / too small will make it more difficult, find the size you're comfortable with. Lastly, drawing by eye doesn't mean you can't measure. Don't be afraid to measure things with any technic you prefer (pencil&thumb / ruler / any tools). Hope it helps!
@@armadaliuart Thank you for your reply, it's very much appreciated. You have an awesome skill and talent. I'll put your advice into practice. Thank you again.
So beautiful. Thanks a lot
Thank you Barbara! 😀
You good
Thanks man! Much appreciate it.
@@armadaliuart you welcome
I really like the creative ways you find to make it look original with all the different background textures. As an artist I always struggle to make it look less boring but I am afraid to try new things as I don't want to ruin my drawings :/
Thank you so much. I suggest you do mini thumbnail sketches prior to the actual drawing. I did some thumbnail variations of 1 drawing because I'm afraid to ruin it too.
@@armadaliuart Thanks for the tip , I'll try that.
This looks so easy. Am gonna try it!😊
Thak you! Give it a shot! 👍🏼☺️
I am in awe at your talent!
Thank you so much! This is my older work. ☺️
