I don't think Riley left things out of the book to protect Priscilla, I think she's held things back as ammunition if needed in the future. We know Priscillas writing another book because she wants to have the last word and use it as a rebuttal against Lisa's memoir. In the author's Note of the re-released Elvis and Me book she writes- It has been over 35 years since I first wrote and published this book. I can't believe how quickly those years have passed. So many wonderful and blessed things have occured during that time while, at the same time, there have been horrific events in my life that have given me much grief and pain. It's called life and, unfortunately, the bad comes with the good and you don't know what the universe is going to throw in your direction. Some good. recently, a very moving motion picture was produced and directed by Baz Lurhman, entitled Elvis and I'm proud of his work and the man he captured in his film. Just as this reprint is being published, another film, Priscilla, is being released into cinemas around the world after an extraordinary reception at The Venice Film Festival. The movie was conceived and directed by the creative and talented Sofia Coppola who I can't thank enough for her care and sensitivity in the creation of her art. Some bad. As you can imagine, the death of my beloved daughter, Lisa Marie, has been enormously hard on me and the waves of grief it brings can be unbearable. I also had to undergo the unpleasant experience most of us are subjected to at one point in our lives-the passing of my parents. Added to that, I also lost my grandson Benjamin. It makes me question sometimes what compels me to get out of bed in the morning. I'm honoured that the talents of others have kept interest in my story alive and allowed my book to be re-released in this new paperback edition. The renewed interest in my life journey has allowed me to tour the globe and make appearances in America, Europe and Australia. I've decided to get serious about a second memoir as I have much to say about this journey. I have many more stories to share including the birth of my son. I've reached a time and a place where I am ready to open up and share these with the public. It's all part of the healing process.
