Before going to Hanoi this would have looked so insane! Now after experiencing it and not to mention that this is a pretty smooth ride compared to rush hour, it is just reminiscent of a beautiful chaotic but organized mess. Once I built up the courage to use grab bike instead of taxi, riding in a car just couldn't compare. It seemed so boring and slow. All my commutes on motorbike were some of the best times because I was able to really feel the magic of Hanoi this way. So many things to see! I am so excited to be going back and officially move to Hanoi this December!
Yeah, this is definitely a smooth ride. hehehe You know what's up. hehehe Grab motorbike is the fastest and cheapest way to get around. And I love it too, enjoy the sights while someone else does the driving. lol
Omg! This chaos, something so iconic about Vietnam traffic, especially Hanoi. There is a reason why I feel so stressful everytime I have to go out (I'm Vietnamese). But yeah, living in chaos for long enough and people just smoothly goes with the flow. Don't worry my friends, all the fear will disappear when your hand firmly grips the accelerator. That's when you know you're a part of the flow, of this beautiful chaos.
Thanks! Glad you like it. I saw your pre-edit comment as well. I have a 360 camera, but the only reason I don't use it is because it uses up a lot of bandwidth for many viewers from around the world. My previous 360 videos from Korea were cool and all, but many complained about the low quality because their ISPs throttle their data or cap their data, so they could only watch it in low resolution. Also, many people still don't know how to watch 360 videos, so I got a lot of complaints about that too. The file size is also super huge, and though my laptop is custom built for 4K live editing and rendering, it still bogs it down a lot... especially if it's a longer video. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting!
OMG!! This is truly insane. This is the kind of video I live for. Something so unique and inspiring. Inspiring in the sense it is fodder for my art. Colour, motion, pattern. Never get tired of your voice Cory! Well this was kinda weird, in a good way though, I was right in the middle of making sure by September donation to you was processed ok when suddenly the notification of this vid flashed up on my screen! Haha. I was completely enthralled with your bike ride. OMG I don't know how many times I said "Oh Shit!"" while watching you nearly becoming a sandwich filling between two vehicles during that, so scary, wow I could not do that. Definitely one of your best so far, and showing a complely different side of Hanoi too. And that clear blue sky, looks like a crisp autumn day and not as hot and sweaty for you like it was in high summer? That big long flyover which went over a lake looked as if it should have had a Bangkok Skytrain running along the length of it. What more can I say, except I'll be running this vid again later in the day. Absolutely thrilling, thoroughly enjoyed it. Take care, Ian
Thank you so much for your support. ^^ I'm glad the timing was nice. hehe I've been living in Vietnam for over a year but I haven't really shown what riding around in traffic is like. So I think I'm going to try and make this a regular thing, showing what it's like at different times of the day and in different areas. It was hot and sunny but a cool autumn breeze was blowing. I am from Ho Chi Minh city but got shocked after watching this. HCM is the biggest and most populated city in Vietnam but people dont usually weave lanes like those in this video. It is seriously dangerous.I may consider riding in Hanoi if travelling there (I was, but just walked and it was safe kkk)
Just wait. hehehe After seeing all the shocked replies from viewers, I really want to show you all what CRAZY actually is like. This video is very tame and not crazy at all. Just wait until you see RUSH HOUR. lol
Nope mumbai has so many high rises . Vietnam doesnt. Mumbai is 12th richest city in the world . But I like vietnam a lot they are confident and strong people . Heck they have kicked usa, China and Cambodia's ass . Respect to vietnamese people . I admire them . Love from mumbai india
@@dhammadatta961 unfortunately not so, India is way more cleaner and organized than Vietnam, you haven't seen the whole India! Whether it be any North East state, any city in kerala, vizag, Indore, Bhopal, Chandigarh there so many!
Cory I don't know how you do this. My anxiety level is high after watching this! But thanks for the awesome video! Very interesting to see how different parts of the world get around.
so cory i just notice hanoi vietnam like in bangkok like a such the hyundai in there and ford and toyota and honda and mazda and like the innova and fortuner like the nissan taxi like green
Awe, I am always so late! Cool video Cory, the traffic wasn't so bad, also i just remembered! Isn't it almost your birthday? It's going to be mine in a few days, Go libras!
Yeah, this was "light traffic" for Hanoi. hehehe My birthday was good, just chilled and kept it quiet, just how I like it. When is your birthday? Happy birthday if it's today! hehehe Libra power!
Yeah, if 3D / VR technology was more mainstream and everyone was using it, I would love to make experiential videos in 3D / VR. Really make the viewers feel like they're there. I have some 360° videos from Korea on my channel, but they weren't very popular with viewers because of slow internet speeds in people's home countries, and the constant confusion on how to view 360° on various devices. I still have my 360° camera, so maybe one day I'll bust it out. We'll see... Thanks for commenting!
Hi Cory, you said on your way to work...so you do have another job beside RUclips? I’m glad you are back filming again. I hate traffic and people drive over there. They drive where ever they want , they don’t have to stay in their lane, they can turn right on the far left lane or vice versa....it’s really scary.
Yes, I think I mentioned it a few times in Q&A videos and especially in live streams, that I do freelance work and voice acting. RUclips doesn't pay the bills unless you're like famous with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. But even then, you might not be making much money. So most of those famous people have brand sponsorships or sell merchandise like t-shirts and stuff. And yeah, the "Me First" mentality is definitely a thing in Vietnam when it comes to traffic, standing in line at the store, etc.
You have not done video re boarding mini buses for sightseeing around Hanoi . I am a 75 year old going to Hanoi in Feb. I have watched most of your videos and find them very informative. As I am not able to walk long distances. , sightseeing will have to be confined to taxis, tuk,Tuk. May I email you re my forthcoming trip as there are lots I want to research into before I go.
I'm glad that my videos can help you learn more about Vietnam. I'm sorry that you can't walk long distances there. The only kind of tour bus I know of is the double-decker open top red bus that goes around the city to various spots. That might be nice for you, otherwise you'd have to book a private tour company to show you around.
Hey Cory! I'm now officially a registered nurse!! 🤗 I'll be going to Korea in about 2 weeks! It's been 8 years lol. Trying to travel as much as possible before working! I wish I could visit Vietnam!! Also this video gave me so much anxiety 😂 It's crazy how it all works out though!!
Ohhhh!!! Congrats!!! You deserve the Korean vacation, omg! hehehe It going to be so awesome. Are you only visiting around Korea? How long will you be there for? And yeah, Vietnamese traffic is a ballet of chaos that somehow manages to work. hehe
Yes Korea for now! I'll probably visit my best friends in New York and Cali when I come back hehe And I'll be there for about a month! It's my first time traveling in Korea alone (staying at my Aunt's) and in the fall/winter time! So excited!! Especially for the food 😋 Do you have any recommendations for food or places? Or maybe I should look back at your Korea videos lol
You had a really nice day! We went to Vietnam a few years ago and really loved the country the food and the culture. And oh yes, the traffic was scary especially trying to cross the street.
Great video idea. 👍 I feel like ppl stepping out into the street was more stressful than the other bikes or cars. It’s pretty cool that you didn’t have to stop very much on the way. When I was in Hanoi last summer I was so stressed crossing the streets and I found it so awesome that all the locals were so chill about it. Maybe next time I go I’ll consider taking a Grab.
Yeah, many times the people don't even look before walking. It's definitely stressful to not try and kill anyone while driving around. It's one of the main reasons I don't drive a motorbike in Vietnam. I had a close call almost crashing into a family of 4 (mom and 3 kids) on a motorbike. I narrowly dodged them and I can still see the fear on the face of those kids. So I'd rather trust a driver who's been doing it for decades instead of doing it myself with zero motorbike driving experience. Next time, definitely take Grab motorbikes everywhere! It's one of the BEST ways to experience the city for just $1.00 or two. ^^
Super interesting, but i can only watch half of it! What is the mentality required to deal with such 'traffic chaos'? Will this 'chaos philosophy' (if that is a sensible notion) will forever be part of this traffic system? Does this kind of chaos extent to other areas of the culture? It feels like a 'Western wild wild west" Am I right or wrong? thx.
Yes, you hit that nail on the head. Me-first... or... Eat or be eaten - just like all animals - except the vegan kinds. In 2015 alone, there were some 6.3 million fatal, injury, and property damage crashes that occurred in the U.S. www.statista.com/topics/3708/road-accidents-in-the-us/. On average there are 38,000 fatal crash PER year in the US and the number of injuries are about 10 times that. Closer to home, one of my extended relative got hit by a motorbike in VN while walking, and died from head injury - at least it was relatively quick. On the positive side, the Economist Journal list VN as the fastest growing economy in 2018. AND it shows from your excellent video footage. The lack of architectural regulations seem to bring out everything from the sublime minimalist to the grotesque idolatry. Diversity is the sign of fast-growing anything, science, art, or music etc. (no time to regulate). Excitement/ risks = 2 sides of the same coin. It seems Hanoi is very conservative still. Or does it hide its secrets behind the conservative veneers and sub-cultures? .... I read there is a group of nudists making news (ttps://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/travel-leisure/article/2125244/nudism-asia-vietnams-hanoi-naturists-arent-afraid-break ) - also on theguardian.com and even a LBGT parade video on youtube. But being a 'mono-culture', will the young VN generations be experimenting with, let's say San Francisco's sub-culture leather festival which draws over 400,000 people in a single weekend recently (the infamous Folsom Street Fair). S.Korea has some interesting punk sub culture. Any of that happening soon in VN? www.scmp.com/lifestyle/fashion-luxury/article/2116448/south-koreas-street-style-revolution-90s-k-pop-nostalgia Have a great and fun week - and thanks for the videos. LOVE THEM.
i went to Vietnam this year i loved it from the time i got there traffic so cool watching it i could watch it all day and driving in traffic fun let someone else do driving for you love it there you need to use your common sense or other wise cant drive love that
Well, I don't live in Vietnam anymore. I was there for 2 years. I did voice acting and just kind of enjoyed being unemployed for a while. Cost of living is so low I was able to just chill and travel easily and affordably. I moved back to my home country (Japan) in April 2019.
@@CoryMay81 Hey thanks for the reply buddy! Thats awesome! I hear what you're saying about affordability. Id like to do something along these lines for a few months. Asia is always a calling for people from Canada it seems =) Did you already have work lined up voice acting before you left or were you able to find it once you were there? Thx
Scary wow!! I would be a back seat driver for sure. Do they ride bicycles too? Nevermind just saw hah whoa no cops to police the wild driving, your uber guy went into on coming traffic to get around the median to the proper side of the road. Do people in Vietnam get road rage? The lady in yellow crossing the street almost gave me a heart attack. Do they need insurance to drive there? Well good video, Hanoi is a nice looking city.
There are police, in the video there are two guys wearing khaki-colored uniforms. They actually come across a guy driving in the wrong direction and though I couldn't record it, I looked back and they had stopped him. So police do enforce traffic laws here in many areas. There's lots of speed traps and check points to catch people driving without helmets or without a mirror. But, there are also many of these cops who accept bribes when they pull over people. Corruption runs rampant in Vietnam in all sectors. Yes, they do get road rage, but most of the time it's just a few bad words to each other then they drive off. Occassionally, arguments and fights happen, too. I think that's normal in any country. I don't know about the insurance thing, though, sorry.
Thanks for sharing, reminds me when I was a kid and my uncle said come on jacque let’s test my chopper he took off like a 🦇out of hell no rules I just closed my eyes and prayed to God we make it home wheelies and all , Glad u made it stay safe have a good one ☮️❤️🍀🦋🎃👍🍺👻🦇🕸🧛🏻♂️🧛🏻♀️🧟♀️😜
You know what's funny? The fact that the two police officers actually were violating a bunch of traffic laws, for example forgetting to turn off signal during the whole long stretch of road, even including turning right. That's amazing! I'm a Vietnamese and I'm afraid of Hanoi's traffic.
As Phuong said, it's the same as taking a bus or riding in a taxi. But I also don't let drivers get off easily for dangerous driving or breaking tons of traffic laws during my ride. I report them to GRAB through the app with details of what the driver did to make me feel unsafe. I have had to tell a driver in the past to just stop and let me off and cancel my ride, because he was so insane while driving like a maniac.
That was scary! I was surprised that there was no road rage, yelling, angry gestures. Traffic laws, signs, and signals are obviously just suggestions, lol.
Yep. Just suggestions. If police stop you, most are corrupt so you just slip them some money while handing over your license and they'll let you go. It's absolutely stupid. But this is real Vietnam.
OMG! That is some crazy traffic scenes, your driver had some narrow misses. How fast was your driver going and weren't you scared at times? He was going through the opposite of traffic to get by. Why do they even have traffic lines and lights if nobody obeys then? haha And how far do you work??
My driver definitely broke traffic safety laws many times in this video. It's not right, but it is normal here. I've never had a Grab or taxi ride in Vietnam where the driver obeyed all traffic laws during the entire trip. Someone always runs the red light, or drives in the wrong lane, or whatever else. I'm so used to it that I'm not scared anymore. I just expect it now. Vietnam is still emerging out of its 3rd world status. I'd say it's like 2nd world status, as so much economic growth is happening here. Lots of modernization, construction, etc. But for most of Vietnam, road safety and traffic mentality is still stuck in 3rd world status. Not eveyone breaks traffic laws, but since so many do, sometimes the best way to get home is to just follow the flow. I'm not sure of the distance from home to work, but in this video, my driver took an unusually long route. Normally, drivers will go a complete different way, which I was hoping to film that day. Instead he went this other way. Still made for an interesting video. ^^
This was filmed this past Friday morning. There's been some good autumn weather these days. I've been taking a bit of a break for personal reasons. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram (@FeedTheCory), I mentioned what has been going on with me recently and why I've been taking a break from filming or uploading anything. But don't worry, I'm getting back into it slowly. ^^
Yes, I moved to Tran Hung Dao street in January 2018. So I've been living here for almost 10 months now. Watch my $300 Rooftop Apartment video tour! 😎😎😎
I would need medication to deal with the crazy closeness and fast pace of the traffic, LOL. Too early to drink ha ha. You've got a long ride to and from work, nice view of the city. Have you traveled the route long enough it's become routine or do you still find places you want to investigate? Thanks for the ride.
Actually, this route is a very uncommon route. Drivers nornally take a different way. I had no idea which way the driver was going to go before recording. But I like seeing different routes, so much of the city I still have no idea about! Glad you enjoyed the video. ^^
Great vid! So crisp and clear, it felt like those 4d video rides that as if i was on the motorcycle. Just wanted to kniw if... 1. There is a suvway or skytrain system in place? 2. Does Grab also have sedans or just motorcycles and can you pay in cash? Thankies 😊
Glad you enjoyed the video. ^^ There's a small train system here. Very, very, small and no one even uses it. They're trying to build a new system with subway and sky train, it has been under construction since 2006 but delayed so many times because of accidents, corruption, funding issues, etc. It was supposed to open in 2010. It's almost 2019. lol
Oh and yes, you can select the type of vehicle you want. Including SUV or luxury car. They also deliver anything for you. And now they just added a rental car feature. And you can pay cash or link a credit card or bank account.
I am in egypt and after i heared about economic growth and achievements in vitnam i decided to see it and now iam sure it better than thousand time egypt
The project started in 2006 and was supposed to be finished in 2010. But now it's 2018 and still not close to being finished. Lots of corruption, bureaucracy, deaths during construction, etc. Here's an article about it from this summer: vietnamnews.vn/society/451764/watchdog-demands-answers-over-delayed-ha-noi-railway.html#pTrzPp2QHvPzMuAZ.97
Actually this elevated metro line started their trial run 3 weeks ago. There is another metro line currently under construction. That one has the first half elevated and the second half underground.
This elevated metro is finished and will be in commercial operation in the next January. There is currently another metro line still under construction which is elevated and underground. Hanoi is also developing a system of elevated inner city expressways.
@@CoryMay81the one you mentioned this is different line, Cory! Hanoi currently has two lines construction, both of them are slow! but gladly the elevated one finally reached the light!
Despite the chaos, the relatively slow speeds gives you a bit of time to react if there's a problem. Personally, the only time when it gets scary is when its raining hard. Too hard to see, and less control. By the way, please do a video of the new metro line.
Yeah, I tell people that even though there's tons of motorbikes and chaos, people are driving relatively slow so reaction times to things are always pretty good. And yes, heavy rain and driving sucks! I would need goggles to see anything. hehe I'll look into the metro line stuff, but no promises. ^^
all those cars on the road is ruining vietnam. creating even more traffic. imagine all them scooters are cars....no one will be going anywhere. love your vids. keep more coming. you have a soothing voice.
Yeah, I agree. Cars would be fine in this city if they drove nicely and obeyed the law. But many car drivers have a motorbike mentality, thinking they can go anywhere just like they do on motorbike. It's completely different. So many car drivers are aggressive and care nothing for those around them. It's a "me first" mentality, and those types of drivers are the main problem. If they all drove normally and by the law, there wouldn't be so much of a problem. Anyway, Vietnam's traffic laws and driving culture need to improve a lot if Vietnam expects to advance into a 1st world country. The lawlessness and dangerous driving habits hold them back a lot in the eyes of the international community. And thanks for the comment about my voice. haha Cheers!
Yeah.....Cars that drive crazy like that are a common sight in Vietnam. I drove only a few times. I usually just use Grab because I'm not that experienced at riding on a motorbike.
I know this is because it takes a lot longer to save enough money to get a car in vietnam, but I Prefer the streets stay mostly bike traffic. Takes up less space and decreases the odds of a fatal traffic accident (in terms of collision)!
I agree. Vietnam's roads are designed for bicycle traffic, which later became motorbike traffic. They weren't designed for buses, large SUVs, etc. But the mentality of those large vehicle drivers is that they are king of the road. They drive their car the same way they would their motorbike, thinking there is no difference. They create all the traffic jams because they're too stubborn to give anyone a chance to pass by. It's a "me first, screw you" kind of attitude.
Vietnam government hit high tax on imported cars, So cars in Vietnam will be more expensive 3 times than the same in Thailand & indonesia, Also I not agree when you said " Vietnam's roads are designed for bicycle traffic," that is misinformation , Vietnam road is small because lack of management & it very expensive land value in Hanoi, So open road you will cost more money to compensation
trust me, If Vietnamese can enjoy cheap car as Thailand & Indonesia, I bet that most Vietnamese will willing get rid of their motobike , it simple cars is more safety than motobike
What I meant about the roads being made for bicycles is the old roads. Many of the Vietnamese neighborhoods and streets are over 1000 years old. Back then, only people and carts really existed. Later on when bicycles were invented, that was the main method of transportation for a very long time. So many of the roads being built back then only thought about people, carts, and bicycyles because cars didn't exist and/or were impossible to own. Narrow roads built after cars became available to the public fits the description you gave about land prices and lack of management. What do you think about the government trying to ban all motorbikes in Hanoi by 2030? It seems impossible...
Driving into on-coming traffic, on the sidewalks, etc. are all very common to see in Vietnam. It's pretty wild, as you can see throughout the whole video. Thanks for watching!
hahaha It wasn't that bad, was it? I'm hoping to film REAL rush hour traffic this week, so just wait. You'll probably have to wear adult diapers before watching the video.
I'm not sure what the martial arts scene is like, but I know there are places for Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, etc. I don't do martial arts anymore so I'm not really looking up that kind of info here. And yeah, actually, this is considered "light traffic" in Hanoi. It looks chaotic and a lot of it really is chaotic, (and illegal), but this is just how it is. Everyone knows how to flow together and not crash into one another. It's a really interesting thing to observe.
There's nothing out there where I work. I used to live much closer to my work place, but it was just so boring. If I wanted to have a night out on the town, or explore and eat at some good places, it's all located in the eastern part of the city. So I moved that way instead. In general, a 20 minute motorbike commute to work is nothing compared to a 3 hour traffic jam in Washington DC or Honolulu, where I used to live. I also used to commute for 1 hour to get to work in Seoul. I'd gladly take this 20 minute cruise over those insane commutes in America and Seoul any day. ^^
Sorry, that kind of video is more like an in-depth news documentary. I don't have the time or resources to do that. You can read an article about the rail being built in Hanoi for the last 12 years that's nowhere near completion here: vietnamnews.vn/society/451764/watchdog-demands-answers-over-delayed-ha-noi-railway.html#pTrzPp2QHvPzMuAZ.97
Cool!!! I Wonder Does The Government Monitor the Air Pollution Index In Urban Areas?? I Remember When I Drove A Motor Scooter In Saigon In The Late 60's. My Nice White Tropical Linen Shirt would immediately become covered with a fine dusting of Black Soot. LOL!!! Why Do You Live So Far Away from Work??? Makes me Wonder what the Traffic Fatality Stats are??? LOL!!!
Vietnam's air quality is very low because of all the pollution, mostly from motorbike exhaust. There are many days, including this morning, where I look out my window and the haze and smog are so thick you can't see buildings anymore. Seoul, Korea also had this same kind of pollution.
Yeah, I'm all for that. Hanoi set a mandate to ban all motorbikes by the year 2030. I think that's a joke and an impossible mission, unless the government comes up with a way to get rid of 10+ million motorbikes in the next 12 years. No one is going to even follow that law here. I think the better idea is if the government invests heavily into e-bikes, setting up charging stations all over, reducing taxes on e-bikes so everyone can afford them, and come up with a trade-in program so people can swap their petrol-fueled bikes for an e-bike. Commuting and operating a business by motorbike is the number one way Vietnamese live their lives. Taking that away is not a good idea.
This situation is the same as in Phnom Penh. I hope that some Southeast Asia countries will use public transport instead of riding scooters or motorbikes. I'm so bored to use motorbikes in my city. Sky trains subways tram or bus would be better.
hehehe Vietnam traffic is not for the faint of heart. I can't wait to film heavy Hanoi rush hour traffic. It will make this video look tame by comparison.
Yeah, driving in Vietnamese traffic is not for everyone. I know quite a few foreigners who use Grab or ride the bus. I walk or take Grab motorbikes only, unless it's raining, then I book a Grab taxi car instead.
@@andrewzhang2621 Are you sure about that, Andrew? You might want to look at some online road statistics for Sydney and Vietnam before you answer that...
@@jeffreygrahamwhite72 Well yes you are right. Vietnam casualties > Australia. But i'm speaking in a sense that if you are in a herd of deers you will be less likely to get killed by a lion than if you were a sole deer. which is subjectively speaking wrong... ok. Hope that validates you :)

Yeah, definitely no f*cks given. Don't worry though, I reported this driver for that and how he ran a lot of red lights.
OMG......i just rewatched it.....glad you're ok....I would have been peeing my pants
Just wait. hehehe After seeing all the shocked replies from viewers, I really want to show you all what CRAZY actually is like.
This video is very tame and not crazy at all. Just wait until you see RUSH HOUR. lol
lmao
:)))
Why does Vietnam mainly use Korean cars?
Wow! This actually looks very very similar to mumbai or delhi! Nice city 👍🏽 Love from India.
Like the sound of a car horn
Not really
Nope mumbai has so many high rises . Vietnam doesnt. Mumbai is 12th richest city in the world . But I like vietnam a lot they are confident and strong people . Heck they have kicked usa, China and Cambodia's ass . Respect to vietnamese people . I admire them . Love from mumbai india
Morr clean than India
@@dhammadatta961 unfortunately not so, India is way more cleaner and organized than Vietnam, you haven't seen the whole India! Whether it be any North East state, any city in kerala, vizag, Indore, Bhopal, Chandigarh there so many!
Fantastic video, loved the pov!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
I got stressed even watching it, its clever to take taxi, bus or someone to ride you. But I just loved the flow of the traffic, it never paused!
Cory I don't know how you do this. My anxiety level is high after watching this! But thanks for the awesome video! Very interesting to see how different parts of the world get around.
Glad you could see and experience the thrill of Vietnamese driving. ^^
It's not scary if you live in Vietnam your whole life :)
so cory i just notice hanoi vietnam like in bangkok like a such the hyundai in there and ford and toyota and honda and mazda and like the innova and fortuner like the nissan taxi like green
I really enjoyed this video. The city scenes were great. I was a little scared for you on that ride!
hehehe Glad you enjoyed the ride!
Awe, I am always so late! Cool video Cory, the traffic wasn't so bad, also i just remembered! Isn't it almost your birthday? It's going to be mine in a few days, Go libras!
Yeah, this was "light traffic" for Hanoi. hehehe
My birthday was good, just chilled and kept it quiet, just how I like it.
When is your birthday? Happy birthday if it's today! hehehe Libra power!
Feed The Cory Thank you for asking! My birthday was on Friday. Happy late birthday to you as well!
It's even better riding through it first hand. I miss those times in Ho Chi Minh.
Cory you're the best!
Thank you! ^^
Wow ! That was awesome ! Like being in a video game ;-) Did U wear a helmet as it looks dangerous ? What an adventure !
Yep, I always wear a helmet. Grab drivers are by law supposed to have a helmet for passengers as well.
The road vehicular system in Vietnam is just similar to the Philippines
Love this vid! Beautiful Hanoi.. love from Philippines!
It looks so similar to the Indian cities but of course the roads in Vietnam appear a bit wider and they drive on the right
You have not done video re boarding mini buses for sightseeing around Hanoi .
I'll be going to Korea in about 2 weeks!
I'll probably visit my best friends in New York and Cali when I come back hehe
And I'll be there for about a month! It's my first time traveling in Korea alone (staying at my Aunt's) and in the fall/winter time! So excited!! Especially for the food 😋
Do you have any recommendations for food or places? Or maybe I should look back at your Korea videos lol
You had a really nice day! We went to Vietnam a few years ago and really loved the country the food and the culture. And oh yes, the traffic was scary especially trying to cross the street.
Makes me want to go there right now and drive on a motorbike!
Any of that happening soon in VN?

i went to Vietnam this year i loved it from the time i got there traffic so cool watching it i could watch it all day and driving in traffic fun let someone else do driving for you love it there you need to use your common sense or other wise cant drive love that
Oh shit.
Glad you enjoyed your time in Vietnam!
Hey you mentioned "on your way to work" ... I just assumed you were a youtuber travelling... What do you do if you dont mind me asking? thanks!
Asia is always a calling for people from Canada it seems =)
Did you already have work lined up voice acting before you left or were you able to find it once you were there?
Thx
Feed The Cory wow, ty for answering. 😊
Thanks for sharing, reminds me when I was a kid and my uncle said come on jacque let’s test my chopper he took off like a 🦇out of hell no rules I just closed my eyes and prayed to God we make it home wheelies and all , Glad u made it stay safe have a good one ☮️❤️🍀🦋🎃👍🍺👻🦇🕸🧛🏻♂️🧛🏻♀️🧟♀️😜
haha your uncle sounds like a fun guy. Thanks for watching!
You know what's funny? The fact that the two police officers actually were violating a bunch of traffic laws, for example forgetting to turn off signal during the whole long stretch of road, even including turning right. That's amazing! I'm a Vietnamese and I'm afraid of Hanoi's traffic.
That’s crazy! Don’t think I’d put my life in someone else’s hands by being a pillion on a bike.
Sitting in a taxi or bus is also putting your life in sb else's hands
As Phuong said, it's the same as taking a bus or riding in a taxi. But I also don't let drivers get off easily for dangerous driving or breaking tons of traffic laws during my ride. I report them to GRAB through the app with details of what the driver did to make me feel unsafe. I have had to tell a driver in the past to just stop and let me off and cancel my ride, because he was so insane while driving like a maniac.
Vehicles, scooters and people makes chaos, but they don't seem to care.
Chaos is theirs and worry is mine.
The roads are not that scary if you're Vietnamese and used to it lol
@@CoryMay81 The same as India
Yes but can we talk about those trees on the streets side?
Scary, the traffic condition is looks like in Jakarta, but we have lot of traffic line on the road , traffic light
When was this filmed? Beautiful day. Also, where ya been?
This was filmed this past Friday morning. There's been some good autumn weather these days.
I've been taking a bit of a break for personal reasons. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram (@FeedTheCory), I mentioned what has been going on with me recently and why I've been taking a break from filming or uploading anything. But don't worry, I'm getting back into it slowly. ^^
Looks like great weather for a morning commute! Keep up the good work man.
12:50, this is typical Pune style.
Oh now you live on the east side of Hanoi, so you have moved out from that nice apartment in Thuy Khue?
There's a small train system here.
Thanks a lot! Prepping for 2019 travel plans. Fingers crossed
Cory thank you for sharing your travels to work ! hair raising as it was i do hope you will take care . :-)
hehehe Thanks!
I am in egypt and after i heared about economic growth and achievements in vitnam i decided to see it and now iam sure it better than thousand time egypt
Wow. So when did they start to build an elevated skytrain? The city is really improving.
I would need goggles to see anything. hehe
I'll look into the metro line stuff, but no promises. ^^
all those cars on the road is ruining vietnam. creating even more traffic. imagine all them scooters are cars....no one will be going anywhere. love your vids. keep more coming. you have a soothing voice.
There is a gold Toyota sadan drive so recklessly... Cory, when will you going to drive a motorbike? or are you driving a motorbike yet?
Yeah.....Cars that drive crazy like that are a common sight in Vietnam. I drove only a few times. I usually just use Grab because I'm not that experienced at riding on a motorbike.
Traffic yes but they had a lot of trees on the sidewalk. That’s pretty awesome.greet from 🇵🇭
Saigon and Danang ?
Can anyone please give me the location of the elevated light rail across the lake at 5:22? Thanks
He was on Hoàng Cầu street then, Hoàng Cầu lake on the right side
Wow, anything goes.
7:39 omg 😮 is it your grab rider is crazy?
Driving into on-coming traffic, on the sidewalks, etc. are all very common to see in Vietnam. It's pretty wild, as you can see throughout the whole video. Thanks for watching!
I do not get sick of your voice
Hanoi is quite better than manila but traffic? Almost same 😅
Had to leave the comment for later....had to change my damn pants! Haha! What an adventure! Thank you! Stay safe?

hahaha It wasn't that bad, was it? I'm hoping to film REAL rush hour traffic this week, so just wait. You'll probably have to wear adult diapers before watching the video.
Thats condition of traffic are same here in jakarta indonesia
I would really love to drive there
Wow, no ones seems to care about traffic lights at all. Very impressive.
Some care, but the majority don't. It's just how it is there.
Great video...👍👍
Thank you!
I find that the traffic is orderly chaotic. It is fine for me. And I quite like it.
Around 8:00 we can see two GRAB drivers, one of them using the phone while driving, omg!
Yeah, driving a motorbike while texting is normal here. Everyone does it. lol
Dangerously exciting.
The streets do need clear lanes.
I hear the educated local people hate the car honking.
whats the scene like on martial arts schools Bro'? Those EFFING drivers are definitely out of control......yet in control, WTF?!?
I'm not sure what the martial arts scene is like, but I know there are places for Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, etc. I don't do martial arts anymore so I'm not really looking up that kind of info here.
And yeah, actually, this is considered "light traffic" in Hanoi. It looks chaotic and a lot of it really is chaotic, (and illegal), but this is just how it is. Everyone knows how to flow together and not crash into one another. It's a really interesting thing to observe.
Thanks for sharing your video,
Why don't you move closer where you work? Just insane to be in that traffic everyday.
greetings from Indonesia
can you do a video on the impending metro service being built? The route. When it is slated to be done. The different phases of the service.

Hopefully, Electric Scooters and Bikes will Catch On In Asian Urban Areas.
Good morning Vietnam.
Wow nice traffic
Yeah, this day was pretty good, the traffic was light so we were able to actually drive at a good speed most of the trip.
This situation is the same as in Phnom Penh. I hope that some Southeast Asia countries will use public transport instead of riding scooters or motorbikes. I'm so bored to use motorbikes in my city. Sky trains subways tram or bus would be better.
7:36? lol
Ill never complain about a traffic light in America again.
7:41 this man is insane haha
Welcome to Vietnam. hehehe
Gosh! If I don't die in accident, I may die heart attack.

7:44 BUSTED
Holy Shit!
I would never want to ride a Bike there!
Yeah, driving in Vietnamese traffic is not for everyone. I know quite a few foreigners who use Grab or ride the bus. I walk or take Grab motorbikes only, unless it's raining, then I book a Grab taxi car instead.
nice video great from indonesia...
