They finally hook up after the Youkai’s Goddess of Wisdom , on Yuki-Onna’s desperate begging for his sake , helps him get cleared with the police of the murder of his ex-wife (who committed adultery against him and then tried to kill him via poison because she resented that he was unknowingly in love with another woman the whole time they were married - who ironically looked exactly like said ex-wife -- Yuki-Onna herself) who was actually murdered by his own ex-secretary who herself was secretly in love with her ex-boss and wanted to get back at the said ex-wife for causing him to quit his job (thus leaving her) after having a nervous breakdown (which caused him to move to the countryside where he reunited with Yuki-Onna) after surviving her murder attempt and adultery against him
