He wasn't defeated, but instead died a hero, sacrificing himself to save a starving family. (even if the money came from the "bad guys", lol.) T-bone isn't weak, he's just TOO kind... rip
I don't like the decision that TOEI made for that scene. Oda left it there so the readers can have open interpretation about what happened to T-bone. But TOEI is kinda ruined it. But then again I understand, this is a show for kids.

TOEI didn't even add the panel showing the old starving guy's family like in Chapter 1082, but instead showed only 1 of the kids (out of like 5 or 6 family members?) in the scene where the kid falls to the floor before T-bone runs to him. You can go to page 3 on chapter 1082 and see them, when he says "even if I can't see my family ever again... It's better than watching them die of starvation..." I guess for TOEI, 1 kid is family enough... Maybe they trying to be like Cipher Pol and have a thing for orphans... lmao
Is it just me or did they change the tone of Buggy’s declaration? In the manga, it seemed like he landed next to a transponder snail by accident when he yells the whole “let’s go and get it!” bit about the One Piece, but in the anime they made it very deliberate that he’s picking up the receiver. The manga version seems more in keeping with Buggy’s trend of failing upward and also his words felt more directed at Mihawk and Croc rather than to his followers and in the original, that just made it hit so much harder for me. Still one of my favorite Buggy moments but it's a rare case for me where the anime adaptation made some changes that detracted from the tone of the scene
Like you said about T-Bone's kind heartedness, there was also a theory where T-Bone took that to the extreme and just allowed the starving guy to kill him. T-Bone would've gladly sacrificed his own life, if it meant the survival of the people. He basically said that himself in the Enies Lobby arc. Also that one guy who betted 1 million on Sabo had binoculars and ate them. Also the blasphemy of fillers!! It just has to be right before the Reverie flashback . Fucking Toei, just has to put everyone in suspense.
I feel the same with Tsuru. Sengoku and her will go to Hachinosu to get Garp. Not surprised if Garp is just chillin in prison with Kuzan watching him. Hope that Kuzan is actually a Revolutionary.
