Now that we know rose is pink diamond, it gives rose' s image a childlike cadence and I love that this art price shows both the strong leader but also the child sides of rose at the same time.
videos that include the sketch are always some of my favorites, i love seeing the whole process, and seeing how a wonderful piece like this was "born" is always nice

Steven And Amethyst are in love with each other and should be a couple! But they just haven't explicitly acknowledged their romantic feelings for each other yet Well there are a lot of reasons why Steven and Amethyst are in love with each other, here's a quick rundown of the ones off the top of my head, no particular order:
Steven and Amethyst got the most believable and endearing love in the series. I don't wanna go into why I feel Steven and Connie enduring love feels tacked on but basically there's no real reason her and Steven should love each other or anyone else. We haven't got a single reason why it's so. We have a slight reason why Steven loves Connie but it's pretty flimsy (he gives it while she's freaking betraying him by not texting him for weeks because he didn't take her to Homeworld because he didn't want her to die...) but with Amethyst we know exactly what Steven means to her, why he means so much to her and we've seen her growth through him.
Steven and Amethyst both give each other Mutual support, as above in part 1. Where she was the only one to see value in him, he was the only one to see value in her. Literally everyone else told her that she was weak and defective as a Amethyst Soldier to Jasper or to give up, or told Steven to give up on her. Steven was cheering for her and telling her she could change while she was getting beaten to within an inch of her life. Then when he showed his weakness to her before his fight to Jasper she supported him and gave him the self belief he needed to win.
Building on that point, Amethyst she is literally the only person he's ever shown self doubt/confidence to. His confession to her is far more open than he's with to anyone. He couldn't tell Connie that he's not really any good, he would never tell Amethyst that he doesn't believe in himself, he could never admit to anyone how painful his failures are. There's a number of times through the series we see Steven putting on an act/mask for his friends, where he's all happy and laughing then as soon as he's alone he's serious and thoughtful. His talk with Amethyst is the only time he ever takes his mask off, she's the only one he let himself be vulnerable around.
Amethyst sees Her growth through him, it's been inspiring seeing this girl who was weak, was useless to her team, who couldn't reach any of her dreams saw his strength, followed Steven's way and chased him endlessly to finally be able to walk beside him.
As a meta point. Because she's nice and sweet and nice sweet girls never ever win. If you've watched much Anime or read much Manga you'll know that the "First Girl always wins" and that the "Violent Tsundere always wins". Literally from the first episode of Steven Universe where Steven and Connie first met you'd normally assume it'd be a Steven alone or StevenXConnie ending. Amethyst changes that, girls like Amethyst never, ever win. We Stevethyst fans think It's nice that she may have a chance to win, Because we Stevethyst fans think this is the first time in ages it looks like one may have a chance. It's nothing if not a nice change of pace.
Amethyst and Her confession was brilliant, both in terms of character and in terms of story. Very few Shonen do romance at all as anything more than the most minor of all possible sub plots. They have a designated love interest and ignore it or they just use stupid cliche conventions and interrupts to keep it going. Steven Universe doesn't do any of that and it has a confession right in the middle of the series, not at the end, not after some romantic moment, but literally in the heat of battle as she goes to sacrifice her life for him. It was a really amazing moment, you'd never expect it.
Amethyst She was willing to die for him, but more than that, she's willing to face anything for him. Compare the girl that's literally shaking at the thought of facing her stronger Gem counterpart "Jasper" to the woman who's willing to face down The Diamonds, who'll block any attack aiming towards Steven without a second thought, who'll stand strong infront of the Homeworld Army and call Steven to her side to face down White Diamond.
And again we Stevethyst fans think she's just really sweet and nice. You can't help but want nice things for someone like Amethyst. But for me Steven would be be something nice for her
This show really shows that Steven and Amethyst are the only ones who can understand each other. Amethyst was weak and hated herself for her weakness, Steven was weak and hated himself for his weakness. Where Amethyst was about to give up she saw Steven and saw "the right way", how he worked hard, he never gave up and even though he didn't really believe in himself he believed that one day he would. The whole Proud Failure bit is really brilliant, she doesn't want some genius Gem, she wants him because he's what she wants to be, a Proud Failure rather than just a Failure. Amethyst works as hard as anyone, she's not weak from lack of effort, she works hard following his example and is still weak, she still can't match up... But she, like him believes one day she'll be strong.
So I can appreciate that, I think at this point StevenXAmethyst fans and StevenXConnie fans are mostly arguing taste and taste's subjective. If you like the kind'a girl Amethyst is then great, if you don't then all good.
Alot of Steven Universe fans think She's a foil but no more than the other girls are, none of them really get any kind of development at all Amethyst at least gets a full character arc, we see her grow from a timid self-doubting girl to a strong, brave woman. Having her idolise Steven was a good way of juxtaposing both characters together, it's not some baseless fantasy like what Steven (and Connie at least early on) had of each other. It's based in their joint weakness. Through the reasons she likes him we learn about Steven, we see how hard he's always worked, we see how easy he could have gone down the path she almost did, and to a lesser extent it ties in nicely with Pearl's conversation with Garnet about Steven making people want to follow him, to be their best.
Flawless? She's doubts herself to the point of ridiculousness. If you want more flaws she'd need to have more screen time, side characters in Steven Universe get almost none and women even less. I mean, what's Peridot's? What's Lapis? What's Jasper's? Amethyst flaw is her lack of self confidence and her inherant weakness, keep in mind that she trains hard, yet she's still weak, her growth is about working through those flaws.
What lies in Steven and Amethyst relationship is a golden feeling which makes them aware that they are accepted as they are. All of their defects, incapability, drama, nuisance, sarcasm, are acknowledged, respected(in that humiliating manner), and tolerated in all forms.
While Steven and Amethyst as individuals are good friends, they find similarity in themselves in some form or the other. This gives a mindset that they are equals and there's nothing to be proud or ashamed of in front of him/her. An individual is completely himself/herself among his friend's company. This brings out the originality of the person in all terms. This awesome feeling of being one's self is what makes their friendship so great.
They both start sharing their feelings about life, friends, about how they have lost someone in their life, cry out over burdening hardships, and help each other read or learn while everything seems torn. They both get along. This is the period of their life that they both enjoy the most. Leaving out all of their work just to talk to each other. Forgetting about all of their own problems when they want to help each other out. Living their life with each other. Loving the time with each other rather than 'spending' it.
Slowly someday. Suddenly. To a special song playing in background. In Steven and Amethyst mind. They both know . It's meant to be. That they really are perfect for each other. That she really means the world to him while he means the world to her.
Relationships according to Steven and Amethyst is best defined as a time when you feel a person who's turning to be ‘your' world. The day that person feels you to be their world. And your journey out to the time when you make these two different worlds into one.
They both become their world. A world of you two. The longer they are best friends. The more they know about each other. The more they can understand each other.
I know i have answered much more than you asked for. But yes, a boy and a girl who are best friends can turn to be each other's world if they so desire. This is the relationship Steven and Amethyst have. I'm very proud of boasting about it here. I'm proud of this relationship while Steven is Amethyst pride. Steven can't wait to make her his bride. To enter a house of their own. To see the day, Touch it, feel it, to live it.
And that's the kind of relationship Steven and Amethyst have which is why they are more than able to develop a romance with each other.
And I do hope that in the near future and I hope Rebecca Sugar decides to take their relationship to the next level, StevenXAmethyst for ever. :)
