  • The European Federation of Geologists (EFG) has unveiled its Policy Manifesto during a high-profile policy dialogue held at the European Parliament on 21 November. Titled ‘Geology for a Safe, Secure, and Sustainable Europe‘ the event has emphasised the vital role of geosciences in addressing Europe’s most pressing challenges, including climate change, sustainable resource management, and economic growth. This meeting presented a crucial opportunity to foster dialogue between European institutions and the professional geoscience community. It aimed to align on key actions and topics, ensuring that the community is well-informed about expectations, while also allowing geologists to present their strategic proposals for support. Notably, high-level representatives, including Presidents and/or Executive Directors from 27 national geoscience associations, participated. With EFG’s extensive international partnerships, the event had a global impact.
This first afternoon roundtable on Climate Change, Environment and Natural Hazards explored the critical intersection of geoscience with climate action, environmental protection, and natural hazards prevention.
